This series has become a great reference to fill in all of those little holes in my UE5 learning that have vexed me on a daily basis. Like... "why does this material allow tiling but that one doesn't?" etc. Now I have the answer (which now seems obvious). Thanks for taking the time and effort to elevate our knowledge of Unreal.
For anyone seeing this tutorial in Oct 24, the FAB "flow" is a little bit different from the quixel shown in the video. So I found this video below explaining what you need to do: ruclips.net/video/TSPPw14jfjE/видео.html
I struggled most with this episode so far. Spent so much time frustrated that I couldn't get the parameters to change correctly, only to realize I forgot to connect 2 nodes together on the parent material. I MADE IT THROUGH THOUGH!! I'm proud of myself, and extremely thankful for both of you. You've made this easy and possible for people with big dreams and no skills like myself.

This series is incredible i ve been watching 2 - 3 tutorial a day and never felt so comfortable learning a program before. This is by far one of the best lessons on 3d that explains everything with the logic behind. Good job guys and thank you
I have been following all of the tutorial series, let me say that I come from a Software Engineer for Android background and never touched unreal engine in my life. I installed it and just started with these tutorials and let me say that I have learned a lot in just 3 hours of this course, this gave me a lot of ideas for future projects. Thanks a lot for your time guys !
I have to pause. Pause everything. It's not very often you see a "noob to savvy" video on here and it's actually true. Let alone an entire series. I started the intro on a Sunday morning and I'm here, with Monday still around the corner. I want to thank you and your sponsors for making this series available. Unreal 5 has been sitting dormant on my PC until today, and today I feel like Megamind. This is FuMgking incredible and I now have a new hobby, at the very least.
Just a tiny bit of feedback. I'm an old man now, nearing 40. The course classes seem to accelerate at an exponential rate, and I found myself needing to pause more and more often to catch what's being adjusted in real time. That being said, it's still free to plebs like me, and pause is a small price to pay. Muchos Kudos.
Hello, I wanted to add a comment. Thank you for creating those tutorials. Explaining step by step and understandable way. Showing examples etc. Helps to learn and grow in UE engine.
I am shocked you guys aren't bigger than you already are... this is such an engaging and easy to follow course so far compared to the other UE educational content i've come across. This is the first video i've been a little intimidated by just because there's a lot of new terminology and I think my brain wants to understand the inner workings of the blueprint stuff more than it needs to right now. I am following along with the steps though, and I'm sure as i use the software more i'll get a deeper understanding. Again, thank you for this! Fingers crossed you guys make more unreal tutorials in the future :D
This is such a great series. I'm totally new to Unreal Engine and quite new to 3d, and have really enjoyed so far. I've found it way easier than I'd imagined. And also a lot of fun. Many thanks to you both (and anyone else involved) for making this.
I've made it this far for today from episode 1 and will be returning tomorrow! For anyone struggling to see Quixel Bridge in UE5, I had to delete the folder named MegascansPlugin in the Quixel Bridge directory and re-install from the Epic Games Library screen. Fixed the issue for me!
I can't figure out the new library now that's it's merged with Fab, if I download the textures to my computer I get a completely different set of textures then you have.
@15:52-Avoid issues after moving content by right-clicking on the folder you moved the content to and "Fix Up Redirectors." So you don't miss them, you can create a filter in your content drawer to show "Redirectors" so they don't slip past you and create issues in the future.
If anyone is having any issues with Fab and downloading the material, all you need to do is get the fab plugin then download it from there. I was having issues with download as it kept crashing at 100% but the fix for me was to sign out of fab on the plugin and sign back in. All is working fine now
Guilty. When I’m bingewatching or following a series of tutorials I’m so focused in what I’m doing that I forgot to give a like to each one of the chapters
Hi! This is an amazing video, but I do have one question: Not sure if there is an updated version of this video I can follow now, but it appears that the Metal Panels facade textures have changed, there is no longer an ORD texture, now replaced with an ORM and is missing a height map, second when I replace the RGB map with the ORM map and go into the instance to change the tiling, I can see the tiling change, but the original texture is overlaying it and does not change, while I can still see the texture change underneath. Not sure if I explained this correctly and I think this might need touching upon but is there any workaround for this? Thank you!
Ok, I think I've got this solved. The file "T_MetalPanelsFacade_udqmfeoew_8K_ORDp" is no longer available with the set, and it instead comes with "T_udqmfeoew_4K_ORM". Use this file in the texture sample instead of the suggest ORD. The pin links will work the same. Now, I'm not sure if anyone else had this missing, but I did not connect the NormalTextureSamples UV to the MF_Tiling Result. If you missed this, too, create that pin link. There should be three items going to your MF_Tiling Result: BaseColorTexture Samples Texture Sample for the ORD, now using ORM NormalTextureSamples.
Hi guys, I need to say thank you very much for your amazing tutorials like these. I'm just new to UE5 and thanks to you guys, I've learned a lot! Wish you the best!
I have a problem at 9:08. I dont have the option for Tiling X & Y. Just only "Tiling". I have noticed that the Parent Material is different from the Video. Mine Parent Material which comes from the new Fab Website is called "M_MS_Srf" the one in the video is M_MS_Surface_Material. I am kinda sitting here figure out waht to do. I can change the Parent Material and have the same option as well but the Material Texture not the black one anymore. Anyone have solved it ? From Fab: I have downloaded the "High" resolution Pack and then applied to my Engine. Any help would be appreciated.
@@stefanfarmer9133 Bro yeah i fell so stupid too. My usually thought was to open the folder and then search the black texture to replace with the white yellow one. Your comment saved me from going insane. thank you.
I found a way to avoid the problem. In the Parent Material "M_MS_Srf" Material Graph, find the "Tiling and Offset section". Remove all the tiling/offset parameters that enter the UVs node, and replace it with the MF_Tiling node that has been showned in the Part 6. Save and apply and you should be able to access the Tiling X & Y in your material instance.
This series has been great and easy to follow however, with the new FAB taking over the assets and whatnot I am struggling to work with and bring in the metal panel facade as it is not the same process as in the video. I am struggling to follow along because of this, is there any chance someone could help me out?

I had this problem at first. I had launched bridge externally and logged in through the app. What you have to do is close anything you are logged in to, and open it from Unreal engine, it should then ask you to login there to bridge and ask if you want to tie the two accounts together and then it will work.
Is there a way to tile the imperfections as well? My floor is a little longer, and as a result, the randomized imperfections are too long as well, and that looks like a pattern.
i am having trouble with quixel bridge and it not launching properly because of which i have to manually add the textures from its site instead. Some body help!!
I'm having the same problems, I can't seem to find the same textures they have. I have a question. I downloaded a material from quixel bridge, but it stored it in folder outside from my project. How do i import it? Because just copying the files dont work, it asks me for import settings
Am i understand this right? There is a node called Lerp which interpolates between min and max values using our texture as mask, which creates uneven rougness across the texture?

The Texture Variation in the Metal Steel material are all stretched out and aren't effected by the MF tiling setting. Does anyone know how to fix that?
What recommendation do you have if I want to buy a very good laptop that will run Unreal Engine 5 with no issues? I have a relatively good gaming laptop, but in big projects, it starts to slow down. I want to invest in something stronger. What should I look for? I could maybe spend up to 2000 dollars for this, but not more.
Honestly? If you can not do a LT you would be better off. Quick explanation. Hardware is power and temperature specific. The more power, the more heat, the higher the temp. The less volume you have to push/pull air and create flow, the higher the temps. This is why your device has issues and sounds like a fighter jet. Same when gaming. It is thermal throttling. That's why moving to a more power hungry set of hardware in a new device, 4080 mobile/64GB RAM/Intel i9 lets say, that thing can easily do your projects but it will quickly thermal throttle compared to those same parts in a larger case. Even a mini/micro ATX would be better. You may know this but for others it may be helpful. To also provide an answer more directly, RUclipsr William Faucher, gave his opinion on a mobile "workstation" option. As well as other information on what he thinks are important. (*link: [ ruclips.net/video/SkzNBKrn96o/видео.htmlsi=qREmQ2dJ_akw7qBX ] *Title* if link not allowed: *Is Your PC Good Enough for Unreal Engine 5?* ) Idk what $2k will get you but as someone looking to upgrade his PC components, Specs 64 GB GSkill RAM/AMD3600 CPU/RTX2080 GPU, I have to remember I don't need a 4090 or A6000 if that's not my bottle neck. Much cheaper to grab a 5800+ CPU and another 64GB of memory. Just random thoughts. Good luck! :🖖 Cheers

For use with Unreal Engine it's free. Figured it out because somebody on reddit wrote "Not sure if you already has the access but I went to quixel website and there is a button there where they are promoting to have an unlimited access if you use unreal engine. So just click it and log-in your Epic account and continue until you see the unlimited access part, then I relog-in to the quixel bridge on UE. You should now be able to download the assets for free."
