Came over from Bobby Duke' s channel, & so glad I did! You are amazing! I find it oddly satisfying that you & Bobby are friends. As well y'all should be, you are both so talented! Now I must binge watch all of your videos!!
When I saw the finish product of this beautiful piece my mind went straight to “Wow that’d make a sick bowling ball” seriously would love to come across something like that in the bowling alley lol
Yo I’m baked as hell right now and watching breaking bad season 4 finale (if you have ever seen it, if you haven’t you should it’s really good btw) and then I went to to Facebook and saw this I thought it was a bowling ball too, like just wow.
Not only is your work gorgeous, but your videos, from the lighting to the music, are very well done. I actually watched all the way thru because of the ingenuity and quality. Thank You.
I like all your woodworking gadgets. Like the handmade resin mould and the Perfect Sphere cutter. It's really neat to see what you use. And the finished product is breathtaking!
Good ole Dukster boy recommend you & thank God he did. I can't wait to binge watch your videos. I randomly picked one down the list & now I'm starting from the latest one. I'm going to put the "do not disturb" option on my phone now. Lol
The stand is beautiful! A lot of times I feel like the stands can break up the natural lines of the artwork and distract from it but this compliments it perfectly! Best way to display the art!
It's a burl. Basically when a tree gets attacked by certain types of bacteria it forms a nasty looking knot of alien wood around the infection. This doesn't make the bacteria go away but it does contain it...so long as the tree continues to make layers on that burl. Thus wood is great for carving on a lathe because the grain is so random and fine, meaning your piece is somewhat less likely to split. I say less likely because depending on the burl they can just shatter and fly apart on your lathe even if you're gentle with them.
@@michaelflash4048 I only carry a 224 average I've been a bowler all my life. It was just a joke. It's how they make some amiture bowling balls look today.
Saw you on Nick Zammetti's Channel. Came back over the pond. That was a beautiful piece you crafted. Thank you so much showing us the process very cool.
Lol, I think you are the first person who actually mentioned that resin is not cheap. It seems like everyone uses gallons of it. Love the sphere, it looks absolutly stunning!

STUNNING. Absolutely worth every second of 13 mins of my life. In fact, I’ll likely watch this over and over. There is so much depth and dimension! I’m going to play this video in a special topics art class Wednesday. (The only thing exciting about my masters degree at this point! Lol) I was thinking it would be interesting to do something with the pieces that get cut off when you round them out (before the resin pour, on the band saw). Would you be interested in sending me cut offs of burl like that? I’d handle shipping of course. An idea just struck me and I figured it never hurts to ask.
Thank you so much Cathie! :) I use most of my scrap pieces at the moment. My wheels are already turning. Those two pieces slap me in the face every time I enter my shop. Not exactly sure what I'll do with them yet, but I come up with something. Have a beautiful day Cathie!! :)
When you put the epoxy into the chamber, I thought this was a pressure chamber. But it seems to be just a container. How do you prevent the epoxy to develop bubbles? I have seen videos where they put such large objects into a pressure chamber for hardening.
