Merideth has been through: A bomb, abuse of a patient, a gunman, plane crash, miscarriage, being a widow, losing her mother, losing her father, losing her sister, losing her step-mother, a drowning, inviting the woman who killed her husband in her home, and putting the fate of her medical career in the hands of the guy who didn't order a damn CT...and for what? To die from CoViD of all things? NO.

Why does everyone want this ending so badly? It’s really the saddest one I could think of. After the life Meredith has had she just forgets it all? She loses herself? She forgets her friends her family and surgery. After all the loss and pain and all the lives she saved she doesn’t get to be happy? I don’t think Shonda would go for something so obvious. This is Meredith Grey she defies the odds. This desire for to have Alzheimer’s is a bit scary considering how traumatic the disease is to sufferers and their families. Remember how scary it was when Ellis came to the hospital?

If she does die from covid, it will prove just how deadly this virus actually is-- it will prove that this virus can break and kill the strongest of people.💯 that's how I'd see it. She is otherwise a healthy person who has survived many dangerous and deadly situations but the virus can kill you just like that.

My prediction : Meredith will be on the ventilator for almost the whole season and finally wakes up at the end after being on a ventilator for 30-50 days.While she was on the ventilator ,she encounters more characters on the beach.
Although I really love the characters on the beach episodes it would be crazy 100+ days on a vent, isn’t very realistic. After 10-14 days after being vented patients are typically undergone wake trials & trached or put on comfort measures. 🤷🏻♀️

If they stop showing her as much and work on finishing the other characters endings, I will be fine with her dying. I agree with the other replies. Keeping her vented for that long is unrealistic.
@@AF-ke8tl actually my father in law was vented for about 40 days because of covid. He went through it but he needs intensive rehabilitation now

@Mocha Swirl that is so true and interesting at the same time! I honestly hope that’s not the case because of everything meridith and the people around her have been through like losing her sister Lexie, her husband ( Derek Shepard , George, mark, her mother, countless patients, and many many more, surviving a plane crash that took Lexie and marks life, and Arizona’s leg, a bomb the hospital having multiple parts of it destroyed and countless other things.... her dying and all of the tapes being recountings and memories having her voiceovers being recalled versions of deaths and painful memories... that would be so sad and it’s just not a proper ending for such a great show. If shonda kills mer and just does this the worst has truly come. I’ve seen comments of mer getting Alzheimer’s and Zola being I doctor I don’t want that either. Give mer a happy ending. Bring Alex karev, izzie Steven’s , and Christina yang back. And give lexie and mark a cameo. They were extremely crucial to the part of the show we loved the awkward witty dark medical drama humor we love. I’ve been a long time fan of this show from season 1 to now and I personal think recently the show has been a mess. They have tried time and Time again to make it better but honestly the new characters have no depth they have there stories, there life’s exist but that’s it. In season 1-6 they had depth. They had fun and it work it made the show the success it became today. So it truly saddens me for the direction the show in going in today and I know shonda no matter anyone’s opinion on her can do better and be better and if she doesn’t fix this show and give it a happy ending this will go down i history as one of TVs most dissaponting endings of a great show. Sandra Oh has repeatedly said she isn't coming back except potentially for the finale. She has another show, Killing Eve, which takes priority. And it wouldn't make sense either because there was no international travel that early on where Grey's is right now.
Mer survived a bombing, drowning, shooting, a car crash in ambulance filled with flammable oxygen, plane crash, emergency Csection with Ellis, being attacked by a patient, and now COVID-19. Mer has to survive because she also has to face Alzheimer’s, but we all know Zola will find the cure for that. This is not the end for Meredith Grey.
Just make sure that they would not play Chasing Cars in this season.

She was put on a vent so she could breathe, as many with Covid are. That doesn't mean she died. It means she needed help breathing. They don't vent corpses. What a stupid question.
Yes but going off statistics going on a vent is a death sentence. Very few people come off them. Plus she told Richard she did not want to be on one for that reason. She didn't want extreme measures. So that shows how serious this is for her.

I recently started back up watching grey’s anatomy this season (17) after stopping at season 11/12 and all I can say is that there is no balance to the show anymore, they should to have some lighthearted comedic scenes but it’s ALL DRAMA and pain, which is very hard to commit to watching.

I actually think Chandra is right. Having the last season be about Covid just doesn't seem right. There are so many stories that couldn't be tied up properly that way. As for Meredith...just like when she had Hypothermia she'll probably take us right up to the edge of death so she can cross the sand to Derek and they can have the proper goodbye they never got before he sends her back to the kids with his blessing that she can really move on because he'll still be there waiting for her when her time comes.

even if they do another season... covid won’t be gone. if covid “magically” disappears in grey’s that wouldn’t make any sense.

So my theory is since Derek came back this season and this is hypothetically the last season that Meredith with peacefully pass, and all the original characters that’s left/died will come back, whether it’s at her funeral or with Meredith as she crosses to the other side..
Kind of like the Season Finale Desperate Housewives when Susan left the Lane and most of the Cast Dead or Alive from Every Season came or to wave goodbye. That ending was Epic!

They need to show a clip of mark derek lexi George her dog saying there goodbyes then sending her off where they get alex Christina and izzie to huddle around her and have like a touchy moment and tell her to wake up for like the last scene.

Right?! I grew up with this show. It debuted when I was a young teen and I'm now in my thirties. I feel like I know some of these characters as well as I know my best friends. I don't know what I'd do without Meredith, Bailey, The Chief... I still remember the trailers for the first show before it ever hit the air... When it finally ends, I feel like a part of my childhood will go with it.

It’s a great story line that shows the real world. I have several friends who care for Covid patients. Several of the many caught Covid themselves. Thankfully they are healthy otherwise and recovered. But it’s scary
I don’t think she’s going to die. Believe it or not, a VERY similar story happened to me when I had the flu, and I am 26 weeks premature, and I am 15 years old. If I survived that, she can survive it too. I’m sure of it. 🙂
this season has a very high chance of being the last season. I think that Meredith might die but it might be hard to tell.🥺😭

Poor Zola, Ellis, and Bailey
Before Grey's ends I want these characters to make a come back as a final farewell. Even if it's for just one episode. Cristina, Alex, Izzie, Addison, Callie, Sophia, and Molly.
Cristina should come back to check on Meredith. I doubt this will happen because Sandra Oh has said numerous times that she's put the show behind her but it would be nice if she could come back for just one more episode before the shows finale. I also want Chambers and Heigl to make a final appearance. We never had a proper good bye for Izzie or Alex. Perhaps after Meredith recovers from Covid they could come visit with their kids or she could visit them. It would be nice to see all the kids playing together. It would be really cool if they could reappear with Cristina in the same episode and maybe visit George's grave or his mom. Bailey could be with them too and give a last speech to her chicks.
Addison should come back as well. Mainly for two reasons. One, she and Amelia were very close. It would make sense now that Amelia has had her first child that Addison would want to see him and Amelia. Their may be a little awkwardness because Amelie live's with Meredith but this could be resolved. This leads to the second reason. Addison gained some healing, understanding, and resolution after Meredith and her talked when Meredith was doped up after her appy. But Meredith doesn't remember this. I think it would be beneficial to Meredith's character if she and Addison could put everything behind them and be family. After all Addison is the only one who could understand what it's like to lose Derek as husband and Derek treated Addison as a friend in the end. Amelia considers Addison family and Meredith considers Amelia family. It would also show strength in women's power and decision making. Woman know how to let the past mistakes be forgiven and forgotten to make a better future and we know there's strength in numbers. This would make a great women's power story.
Callie and Sophia should visit too. Maybe they could appear with Addison because she and Callie were good friends. Callie was one of my favorite characters and I always felt like she got a rotten deal with her love life. I was glad to see her happy in the end but I would like to know if that happiness continued after she left. I really want her to have a happily-ever-after. Plus she and Meredith became close before she left. It would make sense that Callie would want to check on her after she recovers from Covid. Also, it would be nice to see Sophia and Zola together again. Maybe Amelia and/or Addison could tell them stories about Derek and Mark. Or maybe Cristina told them both about the "Dead Dad's Club" and they talk about it together. That definitely seems like something Cristina, who is both girls' Godmother, would mention to them. Especially now that they are older. It would be nice to see that Mark and Derek's friendship lives on through their daughters.
Lastly, I want Molly to make an appearance. There really isn't a valid reason for Molly and Meredith to not have some sort of relationship. If Meredith survives Covid she should gain some new prospective and with that try to form some relationship with the sister she never got to know. Maybe Molly visits Seattle to see her father's grave sight or show her daughter the city and hospital she was born in. Meredith can tell Laura how she cut her umbilicle cord. Or even if Molly doesn't make an appearance but Meredith starts writing to her or calls or texts every now and then. Even if they don't become precisely sisters at the very least they could be friends and keep in touch. It would be good for Meredith to have resolution with the one person who is her last link to her father.
I know it's long shot for any of these characters to make a come back. However, I'm still hoping that it could happen.

Why does Shonda hate happy people 😭. I’m currently fighting against COVID. It’s a horrible illness, I wouldn’t even wish upon my worst enemy. Meredith has gone through so much crap, this illness isn’t taking her down. I WISH COVID WAS JUST FICTIONAL. I wouldn’t be stuck in bed unable to walk😓.

Mark and Lexie might come back but they might also not come back because they are both on different shows. She did wake up but her lungs were severely damaged after she helped a coding patient so Richard made the difficult decision of putting Mer on a vent.
I was watching baileys interview and she said she would be saying “I would not make a the last season about COVID” and so that just not the end
they have a contract for another season the 18th one

I don't know man. Yes, she has survived many unfortunate events, but what IF, COVID19 gets her. She is on ventilator now. She reminded me of how Mark died. This might be the last season OR the next season will be the last one without her. COVID19 is a real pandemic, not sure if they will continue forever.

I am a fan of Grey’s earlier seasons. If she is finally laid to rest after the 4 million horrible things that have happened to her, so be it. God Rest her soul!

Assuming she won't die from Corona. This means she has one life left and eventually when she is dying again she'll actually die. No coming back. Ha no wonder her nickname was Death.

I think tom is gonna be the one to die. Hes not an essential character and it would thicken teddys plot. It makes sense because his son is dead and he's unmarried, so its be easy to write him out.

I am apologizing up front and asking for people not to hate me. I watch the show, but not for Meredith. She's a girl in a bar that is supposed to be some brilliant surgeon. To me she seems like a scatter brain who always has a lot of drama in her life. Also a little girl that can't get over her past or any trauma for that matter. If I was in a hospital bed and she showed up to do surgery on me... well the answer is hell no! With most of the original cast favorites gone, and the many seasons with those horrible singers at the end, I'm more than ready to say goodbye to Meredith. I just hope the writers end Bailey and Chief well. They are the only reason I still watch.

Corona is everywhere... I hate Corona.. it's so depressing.. So niice to see it in your fav show then too lmao.. a few episodes would have been enough to show the horrible daily situations of a hospital due to Corona.. noo that's not enough! Now let's kill off the main character with Corona too ooookk. That's it for me for a few years. Ofc I used to like the dramatic stories in Grey's Anatomy, but man.. Ive got enough of Corona in daily work and private life. I normally watch series to have a break of my daily life and not to make it even more depressing. I'll continue it after Corona, so maybe never 😱😂
