“I am moving to a safe observation position…” Me: Back at my house… in my living room. Safest position I know.😂 Great video! Definitely looks like a time to stay out of the way.
Wow Stan the fall colors, the views the peace and pace of the animals, the sounds of wind and water are beautiful. Thank you for creating this compilation. Be well.
Stan I love watching your videos. Yellowstone is my ❤. My one place I could live and never leave if that was possible. I find the quiet videos relaxing. But when you make a sudden movement with your camera to back away. I jump a mile every time. You have a way of drawing us in so we are standing next to you.
I, as well, have never seen a difference in bear behavior toward humans during hyperphagia; however, the bears around here in the Idaho GYE spread out farther in search of more food, resulting in more sightings and conflicts. Throughout the years, I have seen far more bears during September and October. Typically, they go farther into the backcountry in late October and are far less concentrated. Love the video!
Thanks again Stan. We were fortunate to have spent four years in the Rocksprings/ Green River area in the early 70's and made many trips around Wyoming including camping and snowmobile trips thru Yellowstone. Please keep up the wonderful pictures.
Truly great video! Awesome job. Informative, too. Nice diversity of wildlife. Really capturing the beauty, essence, color, and energy of autumn and the wildlife activity that this season brings with it. 👏👏👏

Just awesome. My son and I drove through Yellowstone last week . I worked in Yellowstone 25 yesterday ago. Loved ever minute. Enjoy your videos very much. Be safe and God bless
Such a beautiful video, Stan! The colors and the sharpness really are spectacular. That wolf was really begging for some food, huh? Question: I am puzzled about the cooking in the tent. So you can cook, but store left overs high on a line far away from your sleeping area? Is that the procedure?
@@geniemedford9200 when it is that cold I will cook in my tent. But it is not a good thing to do if you are worried about bears along with other reasons. I only do that if it is very cold. When camping in Yellowstone in warm weather, you should always follow the safe practices. One other note; you are never allowed to have wood burning stoves inside the park during the winter. Are you in an area with a higher sighting of moose? Are you seeing them in larger numbers these days. When I working there they were everywhere. But 88 fires thin the numbers. But even of visits over the last 20 - 30 years I haven’t seen any.
Wow , was that frost !? Looks really dry . How has the temps been ? Been in the high 80s in salt lake city . Dose cool off at night now . This is quite a video . Thankyou .
You got to remember that Yellowstone wolves are used to seeing people. They don’t really display true wild behavior. I have been in the middle of large packs before and they just run around playing.
It’s funny that some grizzlies have very large humps and some very small. I normally feel like the very large hump is a sign of a male grizzly but I can’t say for sure unless I see it from the front also.
Stan I pray for you! On the one hand I don’t want to watch and support bc I feel as though this is very dangerous to search out the grizzlies- even though you are truly very respectful of wildlife- and on the other hand I cannot look away and I search out your videos! 🙏🙏🙏
If you are ever able to go out and see a grizzly in the backcountry, then you would understand why I’ve spent a large part of my life doing it. Thank you very much for your comments.
Stan, I love, love, love your videos, but with that said, why would hike in Grizzly County during hyperphagia? Katmai has had some problems this year. Just wondering? ❤❤
I am showing that grizzlies are eating machines, always eating, and that behavior is the same during hyperphagia. Their reaction towards me is no different than any other time. Hyperphagia is the body changing from muscle building and growing to fat building. The grizzly is not thinking that winter is coming so I have to eat more like people are always saying and writing. They are eating like they are always doing.
19:10 Stan - you are literally (maybe not literally…but perhaps someday) re-writing the book on grizzly bear behavior. These videos are a testament to the value of accumulating a lifetime (or at least decades) of in-person / in-field experience versus brief periods of focused study or remote/survey research. Obviously each has its place, but this RUclips material has ‘Never Cry Wolf’ vibes - you are the Farley Mowat of grizzlies; demonstrating the conventional wisdom is incomplete at best, and just wrong at worst. If I were a wildlife biologist starting a bear study, I’d spend the first week picking your brain. Seriously Stan - your perspective and voice are unique and deserve a wider audience…if you ever consider writing a (non-art-related) book and need a co-author or ghost writer to do the heavy wordsmithery, look me up. 3:04 ‘the wolves have spotted me and are moving off’ Not before the one on the right lets you know what he thinks of you.😂 Really some of your best wolf video I can ever remember, Stan. Love the barking at 20:50 - and howling at 24:40 (wait - are those coyotes?) very familiar sounding, and yet still wild… The two-bears/three-wolves (one-Stan) footage is fabulous. How lucky to capture one of Thoreau’s little dramas of nature play out…and some nice shots of that grizzly showing off his chompers. They should have named those teeth ‘ursines’ instead of ‘canines’ 16:45 love the grizzly in seeker mode. That guy’s scapulae are real museum pieces. Would be interested to know your actual distance (the zoom lens capability can make it hard to orient myself as a viewer) and wind direction… 38:00 love the mule deer with their flexible radar dishes…a favorite memory of overnighting in YS long ago was the pair of mule dear playing tag - running figure 8’s over and over right through my campground on Pebble Creek as if we weren’t there. (Or maybe because we were there? Show-offs…)
I don’t know if you have watched this video but I think is is my best wolf video. It was an amazing day. Thank you so much for your comments. ruclips.net/video/3iM_gt20Phk/видео.htmlsi=EwpwdfwZdTwQCkFV
Before hiking in grizzly country during hyperglasia inquire about the state of the bear's natural food. If it is a bad year for berries (or salmon) then the bears might have to eat something that they normally would pass up. And that something might be you. Hunters especially should be very careful about gutting out game. A bear will smell it and disposess you of the game and your scalp.
First thank you Father God for this beautiful earth and all the creatures of nature , second thank you Stan for this magnificent video . Nature is beautiful but it’s a hard survival . God Bless and keep you 🙏
@dennislesh2374 The stove pipe telescopes, and the stove collapses flat pack. I'm more curious about prepping food inside the tent in grizzly country. I've been through there a few times, farther in the backcountry.
Because some of the videos are outside of the park boundary. In the past, they have tried to allow trophy hunting of grizzlies so I am afraid of giving away locations.
A bit sketchy for an amateur, but not Stan. Everyone was claiming that snack spot; first time your camera shot wiggled as you got all predators into the shot.
why not just carry a firearm just to be safe? is it against the law? also, i think that was not a bluff charge. i think bluff charges are usually more fast paced. his run seemed slower like he was just trying to get from point a to point b. and by point b i mean eating you. or at least figuring out what you are. I think ive heard you say you dont believe in hiking with a firearm. so then the question becomes are you ok with the chance that you get eaten? because there is definitely a chance. if your ok with getting eaten then by all means continue your approach to hiking. but if you not ok with getting eaten then you should consider carrying a firearm. and if you are not ok with getting eaten and refuse to carry a firearm then you may not want to hike lol. and if you say your ok with getting eaten, i dont think that would be the case while your getting eaten. awesome vids by the way!
