Doesn't matter the time of year, I like my water ice cold. I got an ice cube maker last year, and it's been one of the best purchases of my life, I use it constantly. Before that, I was buying premade ice cubes at the store because it takes hours to make ice in the freezer, and it ran out quickly, so when I needed ice I was often out. The cost adds up, so an ice cube maker is actually saving me money over time. I especially love ice in my energy drinks and iced tea.
I won't put ice in beer though, that's just disgusting. I'll just put the beer in the freezer for 20 min or half an hour if it's not cold enough. Cheap beer already tastes watery, adding any more water to it just makes it taste like nothing. But I'll put it in white wine if the wine isn't cold.

I agree with Connor that there are some drinks I want that should have little to no ice in them because it is a waste to throw a drink away that still have ice in them. I ordered an iced drink in Starbucks and I finished it pretty quickly because there was so much ice in it and threw it away.

Gant, you can do better for defending Thais putting ice in beer! I lived in Bangkok for twelve years, Thai beer is kind of crap but has a higher alcohol content. When you’re outside, it’s 40°C (90s for you F folks) and humidity is also 90, cold is the most important part of beer. Thai beer vaguely tastes of beer as it is, and Chang tastes skunked when fresh. The only way to ruin it is to attempt to drink it warm. Knocking it back with ice is refreshing.

I don't even know where to start, it isn't that this is a bad take per se it is that connor isn't being specific enough, all liquids have an optimal temperature where you get maximum flavor even water but remember water has nothing in it so there is no real flavor everyone just likes it at certain temperatures so if he likes room temperature water fine but room temperature is different around the world and depending where he is he may need the ice depending where he is whether he wants it or not, so it really isn't about the ice, I don't drink water with ice but that only because I drink from the tap and that is cold enough for me and in the hot months I put a pitcher of cold water in the fridge at all times so I don't need ice but hey that is just me I put ice in all other drinks unless it is a hot drink that I want hot of course

You can control the temp so easily... one or two cubes of ice in a big glass of water will just slightly chill it... How is any of this a 14 min conversation ? Also about the beer... if you get it from a tap - how are they not chilled??????? in my country a beer is always chilled if you get it from a tap. And bottled beer can be and IS stored in refrigerators/beer coolers ?!?!

I agree with Connor. Drinking very cold water is not pleasant. I prefer room temp just to drink it faster and easier :)

    You are not alone Connor.
Like wtf ice-cold water so it feels horrendous as you drink.
A bit cold, room-temperature, is totally OK.
Lukewarm and hot... like wtf unless it is tea...

Ice in beer or anything us fine, just don't be a fuck nut who leaves it there for half an hour, just drink it a few minutes after adding ice.
Also.....y'all ever hear of reusable ice cubes?
All the greatness of ice, without the watering down.

My weird take: body temperature water is the best water. It's not very warm where I live and I want to hydrate without bringing my core body temperature down. Body temperature water is ideal for digestion.

Warm shitty beer is like drinking old warm vomit in terms of a struggle to drink it. Beer with ice in it is, at best, no different than a cold beer if you drink it fast enough. At worst, it's like drinking water with a taste of shitty beer. So unless you like old warm vomit, you probably you're probably going to consider the beer with ice in it to be the best choice there.

The thing with most drinking places in SEA, as far as I know, some of them don't make their own ice and order them in bulk from an ice factory. Depending on the night if it's packed or not, there are chances that you may get beer that's not chilled.

Wait Ice in water? If you wanted cold water you can just get one from a cooler or fridge or something o.0 ice takes too long to cool things or water drinks down if not also slow you down from drinking whatever.

American soft drinks are formulated with ice in mind. Drinking them without ice is harsh, too sweet, too much carbonation.
