NEW 2021 Frame TV Review here: • 2021 Samsung Frame TV ...
If you’ve heard about Samsung’s new Frame TV you might be wondering if it lives up to the hype. The TV is a 4K resolution set but it’s got another amazing feature that allows it to blend in with your decor seamlessly: Art Mode. More: www.TechGadgetsCanada.com
Follow Erin on Instagram & Twitter @ErinLYYC
The TV is ultra thin at just about 2"thick and comes with a black art-style frame around it. Different detachable magnetic wood frame options are also available.
The Frame uses what Samsung has dubbed the No Gap Wall Mount. The two piece mount comes with the TV, which is a huge deal, if you ask me. The back of the TV hides a recessed cavity where one half of the mount is screwed securely in.
Another amazing aspect of the Frame TV is the Samsung One Connect box and Invisible Connection which means you'll see virtually nothing when it comes to cords and cables.
All that’s there are a small power cord and the Invisible Connection fibre optic cable.
That cable runs from the TV to the One Connect box which can be hidden out of the way. this is where you'll connect your components like game consoles, DVD/Bluray players, sound bar, streaming device and more.
Art Mode is what sets this TV apart from other televisions. When the TV is not displaying video, it goes into Art Mode.
Here you can select high quality, high resolution art prints or photography that lives on your TV all the time.
The free art available on the TV is high quality and beautiful, and I found several pieces that worked perfectly for my decor. It's also possible to subscribe to even more art from Samsung. For about 8 bucks month you can get hundreds more pieces so you can keep changing your look.
A light sensor adjusts the screen's output constantly so that the art is always visible in its best light. Got sunlight streaming in and filling the room? The art looks realistic and bright.
You can also enable the motion sensor. This will power Art Mode fully off leaving a blank screen, but when the TV detects motion in the room, your art will pop back up.
With the amazing art properties, it's easy to forget this magic art portal is also a TV. An Ultra High Resolution 4K TV with built in HDR to boot.
I had the TV for a couple weeks and watched numerous programs and movies on it:
4K is an amazing viewing experience. It's impossible to accurately describe what seeing hyper-realistic video is like, but if I must try, watching 4K video on the Frame makes me want to reach out and pet the sloths, snag a line drive, and otherwise get up and walk into the picture. It's a fabulous party for your eyes, and the drinks are on Samsung.
Streaming is built in to this TV, so you can access RUclips, Netflix and even surf the web from the TV itself.
The TV comes with a small white remote, or you can use your smartphone whether it’s Apple or Android.
Does the basic black bezel not do it for your decor? You can purchase different color would look frames for about $200 USD each from Samsung.
The frames come in four pieces which are perfectly sized to wrap around your TV. They snap on and off in seconds with magnets. The concept is actually pretty genius
Normally when I wrap up a review I try to provide some balance about what's great about the product, what needs improvement, and what's just downright terrible. I am really struggling to find anything negative to say about the Frame TV.
The art mode is amazing and I would put it in my living room for this feature alone. The fact that it's also a deliciously detailed 4K TV is just the icing on and already amazing cake.
It goes without saying that the 4K picture is stunning and realistic. With the HDR support for more accurate color representation and that her light replication, there's just nothing bad to say about the picture.
I think the TV is very responsive and switches quickly between modes.
Even the basic speaker in the TV is pretty good. If I were going to have this TV permanently installed in my living room, I would definitely take the extra step of getting a proper sound bar for it, but for right now, I was actually a little bit impressed at how good it sounded.
Even the Samsung smart view app seems to be much improved since my last review with a Samsung TV. It connects quickly and easily every time so I am able to control the device with my smart phone there's no lag and it's nice having the extra option of a smart phone remote.
I think this TV is a genius concept. For the Home theater junkie you get amazing picture, and for the designer/decorator in the home, art mode just makes this TV blend in beautifully. I really can't find a downside to the Samsung frame TV. I think I've pretty much decided, and so has my husband, that this is going to be our next television. And yes, it's going right up on the living room wall.
Cool tv, your tv not being square with you cupboard is driving me nuts tho 🙈
LOL... I know! hahaha
Damn, now I can't unsee it...LOL!
OH MY GOD.. I totally agree.. was driving me insane !!!
First thing I saw.😂
Thank God im not the only severe OCD person here 🤣🤣
I’ve been eyeing this TV for over a year now but I just can’t get over the price!
Just got mines today to place in my kitchen area. I can’t wait to have it put up on wall. 🙂
Hi! What do you think of it so far? I'm really considering getting one of these
Hope you enjoy it! I'm considering one for my kitchen too!
Love the idea, my only concern is that art is mounted at standing height and optimal cinema viewing is slightly about seated head height. I don't see the two worlds meeting.
She only gave half a review. It has s portable stand, so its mobile.
JustifyJustin So don’t buy it then.
Good point. But I’m sure it’s way to blend both. Maybe some art above the tv or some type of mantel.
Modern tv's are much better with off axis viewing especially mounted higher. (as opposed to side view). We have the frame tv mounted over the mantle and its not an issue.
It has up to 10° tilt available from the flush bracket.
We just bought our 4th one tonight. I love the art mode. It makes the den look so much better.
I have this TV and it is wonderful, but still has a few flaws. The first one is one of the selling points which is the optical cable...it is transparent and hides away easy, but be very, very careful with it because if you bend it too much or have it around pets and children it will easily be damaged and the TV WILL NOT work without this cable as there are no HDMI in's on the back of this TV. Another bad part is the cable that comes with the TV is a 16 footer which suits most applications fine, but if you break it the only way to replace it is to buy a bulk roll (I think 49 feet) for over $200.00 - so be very careful!!! Another issue I have found with the TV is that it will disconnect and not "see" your wireless network at times. I have Orbi routers in my home so I know my signal is pretty darn good, plus all my other devices are working fine when this happens so it has to be the TV. The remedy is to either turn off the TV and then back on OR turn off the TV, unplug it - plug it back in and start the TV back up again. This doesn't happen very often, but just enough to make me go hmmmmm. Lastly is the One connect remote. Since I have had my TV (about 2 months now) the voice recognition seems to only work half the time. The other half of the time I get a message that it "cannot connect to service and to try again later." These seems like a possible issue with Samsung's voice recognition servers...and take note when it goes down completely it affects the whole remote at that point and you might as well bust out your old Direct TV remote. When the remote does work, it is top of the line in performance and ease of use as well as holding a small footprint compared to more bulky remotes. Also, after you take it out of the box and get it running make sure to update it immediately after initial setup. many bugs have been fixed and quality improved through these updates. Good review Erin....you should give us a follow up!!!
Hi Daddylogan, thanks for this; it's excellent feedback. I'd like to do a follow up but the TV has gone back to the manufacturer (short term loan) however we've been thinking about buying one for ourselves, and if we do, I'll definitely update. You're right about the optical cable; the Geek Squad guys told us to be very careful with it and mentioned it's pricey to replace.
Heck...with the review you gave on it one would think they would have let you keep it!!!! ;-) - Yep...definitely get one Erin. It's a great TV!
This wifi behaviour is consistent with many samsung products. For example my wireless printer does that too which defeats the purpose and convenience of AirPrint because I have to walk to the printer unplug it from the wall to get it to reconnect to wifi to print something. I think you buy this TV for the built in stand and Art mode and be prepared to live with the flaws.
daddylogan /
It's $299 USD to replace with a 15 meter one from Samsung's web store... Wowza!
0:15 OCD kicking in!!!
hahahaha.. You're not the only one! ;)
Was excited by this but its literally a screensaver😝 thanks for cash saver for me.
Drinking Game : Each time she says "4K Ultra High Definition TV" take a shot of Tequila.
1:50 in and I’m on shot 4 🤙🏽
Thank you for this great review, Erin. I wanted the largest possible TV with the best possible picture for our kitchen, but it had to fit under our cabinets (about 18"). The 32" version fit the bill perfectly. It has two detachable plastic "feet," so the TV can stand on its own rather than having to be mounted to the wall. I bought the TV from Abt Electronics who delivered and installed it, including a sound bar. I was not at all interested in the art feature since it wasn't necessarily appropriate in a kitchen, and I haven't used it. The picture is astounding, so clear and brilliant, and it makes time in the kitchen much more enjoyable. The only down side is the art frame function, which makes turning the TV on and off a two-step process, but your cable provider remote can pair with the TV easily and do this. Adding a sound bar further complicates turning the TV on and off because the sound bar volume will always come on but at the very lowest sound level. The sound is controlled by the cable provider remote. This means if you want picture AND sound, you'll need to use the Samsung remote for the two-step "on" function, and then use your cable provider remote to adjust the sound. Yes, it did make me crazy at first, but now I'm used to it. The quality of the picture has made it all worthwhile.
Thanks for posting this great detail description. I think you’ll help a lot of other people who may be interested in similar installation configurations.
You should pass that wire through the wall down to the media cabinet to really take advantage of the artistic features of that TV. It'll look much more like a piece of art, not technology.
I agree when mine was installed the guy built the wire into the wall so it completely invisible 👍
I saw on another review that the optic cable on the 2019 or later models is not in wall rated and you’d have to run it through a conduit that is in wall rated first.
@@Scoobysue1977 did you have best buy install your TV like she did? She mentioned you must have a pro to get a flush look, but it doesn't look much different than anything TV I have mounted?
I like your videos, but I think you should get the sound level to be consistent throughout your videos. It goes from low volume to high volume throughout your videos. Just a tip to make your videos better.
Thanks Smanny. It's true, my audio sucks. I've had two mics, but I end up with a wicked hiss on the tape when I use them. Any tips?
Erin Lawrence maybe get better mics? In any case I think a low hiss is certainly better than having users adjust their volume while viewing your videos, but that holds true for any RUclipsr videos.
Theodd1sout uses a program to level the audio. Maybe you can look into it: ruclips.net/video/rHDqF4iJs5U/видео.htmlm42s
Thanks Randy, I will. Would love it if you guys could look at my most recent video on G-Ro smart suitcase. Ive got some new audio equipment and would love some feedback.
Erin Lawrence the sound quality is good. However I still notice quite a difference between the voice over and talking head audio om the suitcase video. Except for the last talking head bit. Did you voice over that part? Compared to the voice over audio, the talking head audio sounds a bit muffled and the volume is lower.
Still... You did gain a subscriber.
Erin, Erik...
Your videos are awesome because you present a natural description of everything you love or not so much about the product. It doesn't sound like you're stuck on one brand. Plus, your Canadian accent is boss 😎👍
I soooo appreciate that! Thank you!
Erin, you're always clear and straight to the point. Keep it up!!!
Thanks Marco! 😁😁
1:20 “nearly invisible” yeah when you blind😂😂
They're not saying that about all the cables, they're specifically talking about the optical cable.
Wow that thing is freaking sweet. Thanks for the great vid!
Thanks for watching!
Cool TV art mode feature, but this means the TV remains actually on so the TV won't last as long as when you turn it off. If it is continuously on exhibiting art it means it is on and slowly overheating and most likely to damage the motherboard and its life expectancy will definitely drop.
What really want from a frame is to display my own pictures.
Use an Amazon Fire Stick and it will play your images as a screen saver
Very helpful review! my only recommendation (3 years late) is to use video stabilizer whenever you are holding your phone to record, it looks really shaky
Thanks for the tip!
Awesome video! Love it!!
Thanks Alex!
Thank you so much Erin. That’s great news! I called Best Buy yesterday to see if they had the tv on display (any size) that I could see it in person. Unfortunately I can not find it on display there or anywhere. That’s so disappointing. But, Best Buy said I could order it online and use it for two weeks and then return it to Best Buy in its packaging for a full refund. That’s pretty exciting! Now I just have to get my husband on board. :-)
Merry Christmas!
Awesome! Best Buy is pretty good. I want photos on the Facebook page if you do get one!
Nice review, update to the frame tv, The power cord is now into the smart box, so only 1 cable now goes tot he Frame. and If you can run this in the wall then you can have no cables showing. They also sell a longer cable to have the smart box somewhere else in the room, not just below it. I helped install 3 of these in a office and 1 had the smart box on the wall opposite of the Frame.
I just got one for Valentine's day!❤
Same
Good review! I especially like how you made clear that Samsung neglected to use nonreflective glass and I could admire bits of your room reflected on the great art during you video. Art lovers would use non reflective 'museum glass' (if they use any glass cover at all), so why should they put up with seeing what's behind them reflected on the surface of art displayed on Samsung's product?
Great review. I can't wait to get one.
Hope you enjoy it!
as a former geek squad home theater installer, feel lucky you got guys that knew how to mount a frame. Geek squad is terrible with their lack of standards across different crews.
Thanks for posting Miguel. What do you do now?
$200 for some metal plastic that looks like wood? :O That $8 subscription for pictures is pretty absurd as well. :|
Good thing its optional huh ;)
@@michaelandreasen993 LOL
I've seen the licensing agrements for reproducing art prints, it's not as cheap as you think. Of course it would make more sense if Samsung followed the audible concept of giving out monthly points and actually charging you the points on the amount of art you "consume".
My thoughts exactly. And tv paying for screen savers 🤣🤣🤣
Agreed, for $2,800 (65") it should come with all the art available... GREEDY imo.
200 bucks for the frame, bloody hell! great review too thanks.
Thank you for the compliment!
That art looks like a broken tv lol
LOL Which one?
Erin Lawrence @5:30
Ha! Those are rows of tulips in Holland. Looks nicer in person, I guess!
LOL I'm agree 😁
@@ErinLawrenceTV I really liked it though.
I agree it is an interesting product. But for me there are some downsides:
it has a "typical power consumption 145W" and "yearly consuption 201KWh", if it is on constantly actually 1270 KWh!
That is a bit more electricity consumption than my whole 2-person flat uses per year
Good points.
This isn't a review. This is a commercial 😂
lol I like how geek squad didnt even center it above your stand
Depends on studs sometimes
Is this the 65 or 55 inch set? Thanks.
It messes with your head at the store with how realistic the screen makes the textures look. It looks like you could feel the bumps in the paint behind the final glass layer.
Definitely!
Wow this does so much like plays TV, plays music , and plays pictures .
When installed correctly there are no wires to be seen. I love the frame.
The wire isn't rated for in wall installation, so putting it in a wall isn't up to code, since it's a fire hazard
Best TV.
Great video Erin. We install lots of the Frame and one comment you made about "adding a soundbar"...please please never add a soundbar to a Frame TV. Then it will look like a TV. We recommend using in-ceiling or hidden speakers to complement the stealth decor. Check out some of our amazing installs on our website and instagram @c9av and www.c9av.com ... cheers.
Hey Jeff, sounds like you know a bit about this stuff. Can I use this TV with the Harmon Kardon 7.1.4ch Soundbar with Dolby Atmos and get the full Dolby experience?
Sonos amp with arc is the perfect fit here
Your videos are great, pity that Brazil is so late. A hug for you.
Thanks Marcus!
I was going to buy one, but now I know I need to pay for those artworks, I am going to reconsider now.
Do that's it? No cons? Good review shall contain one at least
Erin this is an excellent review thanking for uploading. You gained a new subscriber.
YAY! I'm glad!
Good job Erin , I know its too late to comment on this video but i was surfing RUclips videos to see if there is any updates about Blackberry and TCL then your channel was in suggestion box ,Good luck and regarding the camera motion sensor TV was it SONY or PHILLIPS if i am not mistaken who provided such technology in the market for the first time?
I'm so glad to hear that. Thanks! I'm not sure who did that first...
Good review. Just ordered ours. Must hide the wires though.
Congrats! Yes, conduit is a must.
Another great and informative video. I think that this will be my next TV 😌
Thanks so much, Andy!
Edit your audio separately and add compressor or maximiser to get a consistent sound.
Thanks Ts.
That connect box sounds great
whoa.... what a great concept! I want one!
I actually like looking at the black screen, but then again I'm not an art guy either.
I've seen repeated concerns about ads that pop up on this tv, especially if you're using the free art in art mode. Is this correct? People are really angry about it.
I didn’t see that when I tested it. But that was a while ago now.
Rip electricity
It would be nice to know if there are timer options such that it goes into 'off' or a very low power sleep mode during programmed periods like nighttime.
I would be very sad to see this stunning TV go away after the test is done
I know! I'm already sobbing.
Love the tv...I’ll diy the extra frame s with velcro
Smart idea!
No negatives? What about the lack of "block reflection" features. If they're trying to sell this TV as a "picture frame" then that's one of the most important aspects IMO because that glass reflection is not going to trick anyone; and if it doesn't why i'm paying extra for a tv, then?
yeah this didnt really feel like a review felt like an ad
good review, you deserve more views
Thanks so much Cazzo!
There is no need to see the wire connecting the T.V. and the one connect. Simply cut in a one gang low voltage plate and run the wire inside the wall down to the one connect. Thus achieving the true picture frame effect.
Good review... getting an external microphone of some kind would improve your video immensely. :)
I've got one now! Hope you'll watch another new video and share your feedback.
@@ErinLawrenceTV I absolutely will!
Also, where's the matting that I see in all the ads? It looks like a regular TV screen here.
You can turn it on or off. I believe it’s off by default.
I can't wait to get this TV
Thats an awesome TV. thanks for the video.
Thank you Zorkor!
$8 a month for art work for tv? jfc its not bad but to think there's so many subscriptions for a lot of things today that $8 is just ridiculous
Companies are realising subscription services is where it's at
Hi. Can I use 6 seconds of this video? It would be the part where only the TV is shown on the screen! It's for a video that I'm working on. If no, that's totally cool. But please, let me know. Thanks.
Hi Vlada, we don't license our video out, but you're welcome to email me through the site (TechGadgetsCanada.com) with more details and I can look at it.
I was thinking of having this tv in bedroom. Is there a night mode where it can turn itself off?
Beautiful!
this only works if it's a small frame surrounded by multiple other real art frames around it to camouflage itself even more.. otherwise might as well just get a full blown full option tv and build something around it to hide it.. a second wall or something.
I love the Samsung TV's picture but I really hate the usability of the remote. Is the remote on the Frame TV easy to use?
Nice review. May I ask you the dimension of the frame used in this review?
Of course; That is the 65" size
Nearly invisible. It's completely visible
artenman You were looking at the wrong wire.
Thanks for this
Hi Erin.... nice review. We are in the market for a new TV in the near future and were leaning towards the Samsung QLED models. From what I understand, the FRAME is 4K UHD, but not quite the quality of the QLEDs. However, this FRAME concept is awesome. How have you felt about the picture quality? Also, is the TV that you were reviewing a 55" or 65" display? Thanks very much for your work.
Hi Tek, I really, really liked it and would buy one as my next TV. I thought the video quality was spectacular. I had the 65" size and it was plenty big for our space.
I came within a whisker of buying this TV today - the art concept is brilliant - but first had my local BB kindly wire an LG OLED beside it. The picture quality is not even close - the "Frame" is at best a mid-range / Series 6 TV. Wait for the reported QLED upgrade (which is still inferior to OLED). Thanks for the helpful review and replies!
@@johnc669 Inferior in certain areas, but if you're investing in a TV the QLED it'll be for the long run. OLED just aren't durable enough currently, the reason Samsung canned their first OLED back in the day. LG warranty is also a source of concern, something that would piss me off in this price bracket.
I would prefer an anti reflection surface.
Great review I like the 4K TV wish I can buy one 😎😁
Me too!
Yo what's up Huck!
Me too. Living on a SS check isn't easy as it is...much less buying an expensive TV.
Great review, but including the price would be the only critic I would give 👍🏼✅
Thanks Elizabeth!
So if it is on all the time, it gives you a high electric bill? Does the connect box also handle an Apple TV device? What about the HD cord? $200 for other frames is too expensive. What if the spot for the tv is over a fireplace?
Hi Erin, is the one connect box and invisible connection wire included or sold separately? Thanks before, nice review.
It comes with it.
And thank you!
PLEASE MOVE YOUR TABLE SO IT ALINES WITH YOUR TV
Hahahaha. YES
Aligns
the black levels are probably could be better also 4k is 4 times fhd not 4xHD like you sais
Can you please tell me how the TV looks with personal pictures. I’d like to display my personal pictures instead of artwork,
Alex Sabio looks great with uploaded photos although they should be landscape and in 16:9 ratio to best fill the screen. I convert my pics to paintings in a separate app. Love this TV
Very helpful. Thanks!
looks cool!
how much power does it use in the photo display mode?
Look around for actual tests on this set. The TV is ok at best as far as quality of picture. As for using it as a piece of art, most art does not glow. Also checkout samsung's quality issues as far as TVs go. All 4K TVs are not equal.
It would be really cool if they managed to blend the LCD panel with a high resolution color E-ink panel and switch to that when you turn off the TV.
Great vid! Thanks
Thank you for watching!
Can we hide the connect box in a drawer or cupboard? Or is this going to create a remote control lack of signal? Does it have to stay visible ? Thanks
Yes, this one can be hidden out of the way. it does not need line of sight to function
So is there one wire or two wires hanging down from the bottom ? You mentioned invisible wire AND power cable.....or is the “invisible” wire the only cable (cause it includes power)
Great review!
Thanks Kari!
If it is showing pictures it is not turned off.
Great review
Thanks !
$200 for those frames is too much.
Why is this so reflective?
Beautiful
4:08 Beautiful. Great place to pause
i love my frame tv, but the remote buttons are quite toucy and even if you just bump the remote it changes the channel LOL
Bought this TV last week love it. But still trying to work out how to use the remote.
The remote is pretty different! Takes some getting used to.
Picture quality god or bad
I’d make my own frame considering it still reflects glare. Shame. Good review though thx.
Thanks 🙏
Could you explain more about what makes it better for displaying artwork? Is it just the ability to adjust to the lighting conditions? Is it more of a matte finish on the screen or is it just as reflective as your typical screen. I noticed that I could see you reflected in the screen filming the video, so it has some reflectivity.
These are the questions I really would love to know the answer to also. I especially want to know how good the dimming is in low light: does the artwork "glow", or does it get harder to see, just like a real painting?
I'm seriously considering buying Frame, but what soundbar would be best to go with it?
What’s your budget?
I like Sono
If i will be getting this tv for 780$, a brand new one on a sale by exchanging my 2011 sony kdr-46ex520 FHD tv. Should i buy it? Will it be worth it?
Sale it to me iwill buy it
We have 2015 Sony. It's still working but the sound is going down. But I love the frame on it with Logo Sony
Gorgeous
I know this review was 2 years ago, but does the oneconnect box need line of sight or can it be hidden behind a wall?
Good question, Roy. The box does not need line of sight; it can be hidden in a cabinet or put in another room.
