If they worked super hard they could get back to where they were. Axl Rose, and James Hetfield both started sounding really terrible for a while, but both of them busted their ass and James in particular sounds better than ever. Axl also sounds eons ahead of what he sounded like 5 or 10 years ago (not that I really have a huge point of reference for Axl, I'm not a fan of much of his music, but the shit I've heard is a pretty crazy change).

So many people say Serj’s voice is ruined, but you guys don’t realize how great of a singer he is. His voice isn’t ruined, he’s just using it in a healthier manner. You guys don’t realize how high some of the notes are that he has to hit. Fatigue builds up fast if you’re constantly yelling and growling, and eventually that stuff can break down your voice. He’s singing smarter.
At least he can still sing. His voice is beautiful even if he cant scream, the band should still make some metal just without the screaming, honestly would be oretty successful

When I heard them the first time I was a teenager, I asked my dad to buy me their second studio album 'Toxicity' I really enjoyed all those hours listening to them, it is so nostalgic to see them now older (of course is natural for all of us). Powerful song!
It's a live performance, not a studio album, and they're older. If you want your music to sound like the studio album or what is on the radio, listen to that. A live performance has a different vibe, different feel. It's there in the moment.
I was at the festival and saw the show, Listend to them as a 15 year old and lost them along the Road, standing there as a 28 year old Guy the really had me in my youth in the first 15 seconds, great show great voice great down to earth guy
Serj hasn't lost his voice. It's still the same as it used to be. All he has lost is the aggression. All of the SOAD albums are aggressive as fuck. And serj is at an age where the aggressive young man in him has almost died, so yeah.
Crazy to me people are blasting this for them sounding old. I've listened to every live version of this I can find on YT and this is legit the best one IMO other than their SNL performance
Soad is the prove that you don't have to care about your voices to be loved by the people.. Every artist evolves over their career...I think they sound more mature and more on key than in old shows. The audience doesn’t seem to have a problem with how they sound. Serj probably got tired of blowing out his voice over the years and got some vocal coaching. A lot of pros get lessons throughout their careers so they can keep performing and improving.
If i hear another "old serj is gone" ill go nuts..Can you not hear hes not using his real voice and that he can scream and everything but he doesnt want to so he uses a "Squidward" technique to save his voice from idk really what xd
System of a Knot i think he uses this "technique" maybe due to possibly ruining his vocal folds because not that many people knew how to scream back in the 90's people to this day still fuck them up because they dont scream properly

To everyone talking about the changes about serj good or bad Serj himself replied to a bit of confusion that a lot of fans were making about the band. and Serj himself said that even back in some of the earlier albums he had already wanted to leave the band and diverse styles, he was bored of the same thing and same people he had been working with, so he left to make some new stuff (i.e opera). Serj and the gutairist got into a little bit of a dispute, nothing more than a very civil dispute because the gutairist wanted to keep things the same but serj wanted to diverse. Eventually the band got back together and everything they make and do now is all based off a unanimus agreement. So yeah, serj isnt exactly happy singing this. he doesnt really like singing the older stuff he made. im not saying this as a bad thing. if anything this makes me respect him as a person, hes performing for his fans, and his crew. Serj is an amazing artist also to add (edit) There is also the fact taht Serj is 50 years old now, so after screaming for over a decade, that would take a toll on anyones voice, so being at 50, serj is simply trying to save his voice. (also his earpiece was broken in this particular performance)
He couldn’t hear himself. He sang INCREDIBLY well considering he couldn’t hear. That’s why he sang so high, when holding his ear he can ALMOST hear himself that way lol
