I came here from a Google link on how to get the peach seed out of the peach pit and now I'm wondering on the necessity of watching the whole video to support content creators because of the algorithm of how they get paid from RUclips
Google owns RUclips so it's natural for a RUclips video to pop up when you're searching for something sometimes, especially when it's a very niche topic. You do not have to watch the video. New sub here. Great video! Very clear and informative. I have been growing peach trees from seed (not in pit) for 4 years and have beautiful peach trees. One tree produced a peach in 2023, and it was Devine. I just cracked open 34 pits today. I do it outside on a brick pile with a chisel and hammer opening the pits on slit.

'Don't hit the pit while holding in hands' She said it just for me 😅 Well I've found another way to open pits and requires even less efforts: 1) soak pit in water for 12-24 hours. 2) On thick side where you hammered, do light cut with cutting blade. 3) put screw diver and rotate it. It will open easily.
For cherry pits I use diagonal head snips and nip it at the flesh lip. And dry it for at least a week so the seed inside shrinks away from the shell. You could possibly use the same method for peach pits. Ps use a face shield when doing cheery pits they often send chunks flying everywhere.
FYI, If anyone has those same green, long nosed pliers, the little round/circular hole on one side is the perfect tool for breaking cherry pits open. Just drop the seed in and close the pliers. A few trials will show you how to orient the seed in the opening. The hole is just a little smaller than the pit so it cracks open. You may need something pointy to push the seed out from the back of the pliers because sometimes the shells are still sticky. Then you can germinate those seeds too.

@@parisp6629 Oh, that's a metal bench block for jewelry making. I believe there are rubber ones too. I think the one I got was from Michael's craft store. Just search 'bench block' and you'll be able to find it! Also, in this video I crack the cherry seeds open the same way @00:26 ruclips.net/video/561vvJ7UfKA/видео.html I use a slightly different method now since I just noticed that those same pliers have a space for wire cutting and the seeds fit in there. Now, pieces don't go flying everywhere. I plan on posting an updated video if the seeds germinate.
I found in my experience believe or not BOLT CUTTERS large enough to fit the shell in-between the blades one try and I got my seed right out just be sure to move slow it couldn't of went more perfect!
To safeguard your towels, counters and tables do this outside. The street and sidewalks are notorious for being free, hard surfaces most people have access to 🤔😅

Im growing mine from a peach pit and i did get one to germinate so far but mine did look just like yours, kind of shriveled up. They plumped up pretty quick but im wondering if this stunts their growth or if it will grow to full size? Or is it a seed from a dwarf tree? i hope not.
i remember when i was 5 and had a peach for the first time, i bit into it like an apple and the peach pit just cracked in half, do my teeth have the force of a hammer?
@vesmagardens I ate one as a kid and I was perfectly fine. Years later as an adult, somebody had mentioned them in a comments section, regarding a certain cancer and them being a remedy when consuming properly. It’d be really messed if this is true and we’re being taught the opposite by the FDA for some malicious reason.
@andrewvazquez4683 Could you ever trust anything our modern government tells us? They are definitely a good source of nutrients that our bodies lack. Ever wonder why the big-name corporations work so hard to eliminate the seeds in food? Seedless grapes, seedless watermelon, seedless everything. There is something in the seed that our body's need to fight off disease, infections etc.

It's almost as if the side at 00:24 sticks out like a small bulge, and at 00:27 it's flatter. That's what it seems like to me and maybe just me 🤣 it doesn't matter too much though.

But should you really be eating them unprocessed? I was trying to look up for information on web if they are safe to eat while raw fresh and there's no definite certain study saying that they are safe for consumption... That's just risking to potentially poisoning your body very slowly by eating them.

I used a reading glasses flathead screw driver and it was easier and cleaner to deshell

Yes, but you have to be careful, especially with the cherries, because you can crush the seed.

I had to use the vise and after much hammering, put a screw driver in the crack and mallet it to break open! Are Washington peaches just tougher?

I just opened my peach pits and my seeds look thin like these did these seeds still germinate even being thin?
Soak them overnight and see if they plump up. If they do, throw them in loose potting mix or use the paper towel method to see if they'll germinate.

the peach pits and seeds are also toxic, not sure why an animal would want to eat them, but be careful not to let them.
Peach pits are literally used to make almond extract it protects the fruit from the seed. This is incorrect
