Really holding back, 2nd to last was definitely coasting when it should have been flat. Would lose to see lap times topple once people get used to the circuit and start putting out some pace.
@@cam_121 no only 2 layouts original fast with 9 curves and this onenow 2 grand prix old kyalami is so fast but now dmolished that par of track, and some houses there ,old kyalami was fantastic
@@master-kq3nw wrong, there has been a few layouts. There was the original circuit (which my father regularly raced on), the 1988 layout, the 92 to 93 layout, the 93 to 2008 layout, 2009 to 2015, then 2016 to present
Synystr7 and Speed Wonk - It didn't really have anything to do with Pryce and van Vuuren, or even Revson's death a few years earlier. The real culprit, as has been the case for a number of circuits, is urbanization. Look around 1:01-1:03. Around there used to be the final hairpin leading to the original start-finish straight on the hillside. All one sees on that hillside now is housing. The housing plans were announced and approved after F1 left in 1985.
The circuit soldiered on with national series races but the facilities began to deteriorate and it appeared the writing was on the wall. The increasing urban sprawl of Johannesburg meant that Kyalami had gone from being a circuit in open countryside was no nestling uncomfortably against residential and commercial properties. Rising land values meant the viability of the circuit was increasingly in question, with pressure to redevelop for other uses high. In 1988, a plan to save racing at Kyalami - if not the original circuit - was announced. Half of the land would be sold for development and a new course established on cheaper land further down the hillside. Proceeds from the land sale would fund reconstruction.
@@alydarsnote yes they sold land part of track is gone that straight line original i search that part to see anything about old kyalami and i can not find anything, only street, trees houses....
It’s half a lap onboard. The other half is showing the driver’s head and arms… why not do two different videos? A full lap onboard would be thanked. For now, thumbs down.
@@andyboulet I've never heard that before but the official reason is because it only has a level 2 FIA grade. Needs a level 1. The reason for the level 2 is because the run off areas aren't sufficient for F1. The circuit can host everything except for F1.
Whoever edited this hates Motorsport
It beggars belief that you change the camera angle to the driver's face during the corner apexes. It adds absolutely nothing.
Good point, same here.
Came here to comment this. Video ruined
It's fucking criminal 😒 the guy who did the camera shots needs to be arrested 😑
It beggars belief someone would complain about a free video
Onboard camera. Switch to everytime to drivers face. = dislike
Thsi track in F1 wanna be insane , just imagine , wow , i hope 2023 we have a race in Kyalami.
Give me the lottery number please
Should be 2024! What a great news!
@@corentincarneau706 A bit narrow maybe?
@@magnodavide I'm not sure, it looks wider than most tracks on the calendar. Like Zandvoort?
You wish may be granted
if there is one single cut from the TV pod in any onboard video I refuse to take the creator even at least slightly seriously
What an amazing experience - can't wait to see all the cars on this circuit. The sound was incredible...
what's the point of switch the view to driver
kyalami must be in calendar f1
There are some unofficial news the Kyalami track will be back in F1 calendar in 2023. But still, to be confirmed officially.
F1 needs this circuit on the calendar.
F1 already has about 6 dogshit 'races' too many. It doesn't need more.
Would be great, such a historic F1 circuit and to have a race in Africa would help round out the more global feel of F1
This track really should be in F1 😍😥
Me encataria volver a Ver este circuito en Formula 1, me pone nostálgico :'^).
Worst video editing in history.
Magnifico circuito
The deceleration and acceleration at 1:04 are insane! (200 -> 80 -> 200+)
Рада за Кьялами. Что трасса жива. Не все смогли разрушить. На ней ведь гонял великий Сенна!
I assume one could take these turns faster or am I wrong?

So it returns?
Preferred the old track.
Which one, there's been like 3 or 4 different layouts over the years

Why did they get rid of the old track? Ugh... such a waste.

Too narrow! If it was a bit wider, it would be great for f1
Inside Line only reason it was denied F1 is the proximity of the nearest hospital, otherwise the Circuit itself is fine.
Andy Boulet i haven’t seen any visitors stands, so i think this would be a problem aswell
Not really Monaco is more narrow but F1 races there

Cameron I’m aware of the grading, the reason for the Level 2 grade was also the proximity to a hospital.
Bit like Catalonia
no better then catalunya
Pls no F1
I don't want to see the driver for facks sake
