  • This "Phylloneta" spider lady is the mother of several dozen babies. She guards her offspring in her hiding place.
And she will take care of her babies even after they hatch.
Without an examination of the genitalia, it is impossible to say for sure whether it is a "Phylloneta sisyphia" or "Phylloneta impressa".
Depending on which species it is, she will feed the young more or less long from mouth to mouth with a secretion from her intestine.
It will also depend on the species whether it even preys on the young and later on preys together with you.
Again, a behaviour that I was not aware of in spiders until a few days ago.
    Also exciting:
    Phylloneta builds cobwebs.
In them, the trapping threads are arranged vertically. If a prey animal runs into it, the thread loosens and the prey is pulled upwards, where it may become even more entangled.
