I love nature, small things and photography and videography.
In the Ruhr area, in the west of Germany, I find an incredible amount of opportunities and habitats in dense change.
I started photography in 2009 and videography in early 2023. In both areas I consider myself an ambitious amateur.
My equipment consists of a simple DSLR (Canon 90D) with macro lens (Tamron 90mm) and a bean bag. The editing is done with Lightroom and Premiere Pro.
I recently updated my equipment with q Zoom H2n recorder.
In the long term I would like to get a gimbal to go with it. Let's see when...

Spring in the Ruhr area and the northern edge of the Sauerland region brings many different snails out of their hiding places. And of all these snails, the vineyard snail is my favorite.

I saw this "Goldglänzenden Laufkäfer" (Carabus auronitens) out of the corner of my eye while I was filming a young vineyard snail. The rascal is devilishly fast! I only had seconds to follow the beetle with the camera - with manual focus. But I'm glad it worked out! I waited over a year after I first encountered this species...
Two wild bees mating

A pair of European orchard bees have found each other. I just stretched my legs - and was then able to enjoy these two right away. What I couldn't capture: The original sound. When you see the wings vibrating, please imagine a high, pleasant chirping sound, ok?

Anyone who thinks that snails are really, really slow is mistaken. That in itself I find exciting. But what I'm always really taken by is the snails' skin. They are so transparent. As if they were made of glass.

I spent my lunch break on my favourite fallow meadow again. I saw this insect jump into a net. But also that the spider didn't care about it at first. Actually, I was chasing a hornet that day on a meadow in the industrial area in Hagen. Unfortunately unsuccessfully. But at least I came across a crowned spider lady. I spontaneously pointed the camera at it - at random. All the settings, the camera work, the focus... Completely manual. I like the result and hope you like it too. kayhelena.work

A day in the garden. Actually not a whole day, but a short tour. Walking around the garden with the camera and seeing what's crawling. Since I haven't had the time so far, I'm catching up on it now. Due to the conspicuous markings, the place of discovery and the month, I suspect that this is a female of the "Eichblatt-Radspinne" / "Oak Spider" (Aculepeira ceropegia, Syn.: Araneus ceropegia).

Cute, i have a family of paper wasps right outside my door. They're pretty docile if you leave them alone to do their thing.
My fountain has two regular bees that hang around it these days. They love when I spray water and bask in it.
