    Great video. I took a shortcut. With a 1/4” drill I drilled straight through the outermost LED. The clip broke as expected and the LED popped out. I unplugged it and changed it out. The whole job took around 3 minutes in total

    • @unclemarksdiyauto
      @unclemarksdiyauto  2 года назад +3

      That is a great idea. I will be replacing another set, this time on MY truck & plan on doing that and recording it. 3 minutes will be the way to go and a lot safer than possibly braking the mirror glass!

      I just tried to it this way and unfortunately the cord was too short to be able to plug the new light in because the plug on the new light is in the middle rather than on the end like the OEM light. Ended up having to take the mirror off and doing it the way in the video.

      Some claim you can pop the signal out using a small screw driver without tearing the mirror apart. I think if a person is careful, it might be doable. The side that went in last on each light when installed would be the side to gently pry out first. If that makes sense.

      Depends on the make and model. I would think if your is a XLT, yes the wires should be there, but again depends on the mirrors. It is also possible that if the wires are there, the computer will not be sending a signal to them. If that is the case, you would have to get a dealer to reprogram the computer to now have that feature. (Sorry it is not a yes or no answer Vincent)
