That’s my son Jon! So very proud of him and everything that he has achieved. Like his brother, Scott, he was a decent driver himself but circumstances dictated a different route for to have a career in motorsport.
Well done to mclaren for recognising such an important day, and also Lando, especially after he's struggled with his mindset in recent races and qualifying 🧡
What an absolutely lovely lad Lando is. He's still so young and will have a long and successful career in F1 and beyond. Mental health is so important for everyone and can't be talked about enough.
When Lando mentioned “lack of talent” in one of the post race interviews this past weekend, I felt that he was beating himself up unnecessarily. I’m glad he spoke about mental health today with the past weekend in perspective.
@@carmelasicurezza I know he has said that many times . I personally dont think he thinks that is the case. It is to me comes across as more Landos humour or perhaps its a defence mechanism but I am no expert. I have followed Lando from F3 and see how he has matured and think he is just a nice guy with a lot of talent.
I agree. It reminded me a bit of 2019/20 and how he was so hard on himself and how much Carlos supported him and boosted him (if you remember the old McLaren unboxed videos). Let's hope that qualy response was a temporary response. He certainly bounced back in the race. Now he has to be his own mentor and learn how to deal with having a really competitive teammate who is being hyped all over the place.
@@purpledahlia1969 I personally think his race performance was the best of the weekend. Oscar is obviously very talented and new but Lando closed a 10 second gap to him and was mostly the quickest car out there. George did well to get 4th from his first lap incident but he was a half a minute behind Lando. Land hasn't`t been pushed in a while, this will be good for him I believe. Some are saying Oscar is the new Max but I think that's a bit quick to say. Both the McLaren boys are extremely quick and I'm not so sure it won't be Lando who prevails in the long run.
Proud of McLaren for allowing their team to talk about important topics like mental health! Thank you very much for giving us this space for reflection 🧡✨
Lando will forever have my admiration for his vulnerability and willingness to encourage an open conversation around mental health. The pressure and spotlight we put drivers under is insane. He's handled it with such grace, but I'm sure it takes its toll. Much love 🧡
This is a very different video than McLarens usual videos but it is nice to see and learn how Lando overcomes his challenges that he faces time to time. Stay strong Lando 💪🧡
I love that McLaren and Lando did this! Mental health is so incredibly important and seeing someone with so much influence and following is very beneficial. Love you Lando, you are doing such an amazing job on all fronts, keep being you!! 🧡
I love Lando's funny and goofy side, but his serious side (about work, mental health...) is important too, even tho we tend to forget about it. Just thank you Lando and McLaren for speaking up about it 🙏🙏🙏
I feel like Lando must be a great friend, he’s this funny bubbly overgrown child most of the time, but here he seems quite warm, open and smart, I just want to hug him
Lando opening up about the struggles he faces, and it being so many of the same I do, helped me so much. Purely talking about it is so reassuring in a way. As someone who used to have a really bad eating disorder, and still struggles a lot with eating, it's almost calming knowing that people you look up to are working through the same issue and that they're getting better. It makes me feel like I'll get better, too, one day.
Mental first aider. What a great idea! So often, companies will have a first aider to deal with physical injuries, but we forget about the mind. This should be widely adopted. We have employee assistance programs at work, but to have a quick point of connection to chat to would be a great initiative. Well done Mclaren!
So proud to have been a fan of McLaren for years. The fact that they pay attention to things like this, really confirms that for me. I’m very happy that Lando and the team help to normalise speaking about mental health.

Lando is the perfect guy to last this long without a race win driving soo well!! The fact that he battles with mental health this much makes it even better man! Keep this up and your first race win will be the start of many!! 🏆 Lando will not only get many more wins than if he got them early, but will be a magnificent and inspirational human in the process! 😁❤️

Huge huge props to McLaren Lando and John for this. Especially the part about self perception and accountability - on the one hand not being controlled by others perception but also taking pause and reflecting on differing opinions.

Lando is real for this, especially after Qatar he was being so hard on himself. We all love you Lando and you have so much talent and drive. Kudos to you Lando for being so forthcoming regarding mental health-sadly it continues to be stigmatized but people such as yourself speaking about it will only help. Have to add I wish all of the drivers in Qatar race had not felt the pressure to continue racing when the intense heat made them physically ill-that affects mental health as well as you all feel like you can’t stop during a race…and you should always feel free to do so.

This is outstanding. Given this Qatar GP where the last thing anyone seemed to care about was Driver welfare and safety. So relevant to so many people. Well done guys
Thank you for sharing this! It's sooo important to talk about the other side of 'success' and the importance of having a stable support net, wherever you are. Having a team like McLaren sharing it, with the impact that makes, it's truly awesome. Thank you
That was a really interesting conversation. Would like to see more content like that. Londo sounds so nice, I could actually imagine being friends with him, which isn’t the case for a lot of f1 drivers

Thank you Lando 🧡 I am having some mental health struggles at the moment and I appreciate you so much for doing this. That first win will come 😊 but you're already a winner in our eyes!
So glad to have stuck it out with you, McLaren! I almost jumped ship with Alonso then with Carlos. Danny came along but expectations were not met. It hurt watching Ric struggle. Then when I heard OP was coming, my ears perked up and I couldn't wait for him to get in the car. Tbh, L4N is my favorite driver and the way OP has pace to match makes me worry for Lando...please don't let it bother you, get inspired and fired up for if McLaren is truly your team you will only be genuinely happy for them. And never let anyone make you feel less valid for all your dreams are yours no matter what anyone else thinks! Peace

It's so good to see Lando talking about this, being open about these topics and raising awareness, especially after seeing him so down in the last race weekend. Hope his and jon the team's work will reflect worldwide for other athletes 🧡
Lando is the best and I watch f1 to see him race.
Thank you
I love Lando and hope he stays with McLaren for many more years.
That was a really interesting conversation. Would like to see more content like that.
Londo sounds so nice, I could actually imagine being friends with him, which isn’t the case for a lot of f1 drivers
thank you for shining light on this topic. it’s super important especially in today’s day and age and not many people focus on it’s importance … thank you all! 🧡
Well done to both of you and McLaren for recognizing the importance of mental health.
Peace
Thankyou McLaren 🧡
Thank you for speaking about mental health. I wish i could tell people that talking to someone is the key to getting over your sickness. ❤
John’s understanding of human psychology and his degree of empathy are incredible.
Thank you for bringing awareness! I struggle with mental health as well and talking really helps me a lot
