      How can your eyes burn from seeing Gynosanya get beat up?
      He is the worst champ ever after Aljo. He literally paint his nails, dyes his hair pink and wearing granny coats.
      Fiddling his dog and just being very immature every time something goes his wrong way.

      Is it solely because of skin color or what is there to like? Sorry for asking you that. Love ya champ!

    I would have liked to hear a bit more about what Sean did well. Yes, he inches forward slowly… But a breakdown of the timing/technique of his teep to the body, checking leg kicks, awkward hand movement would have been good. All of that together dictated Izzy’s activity. Just want to hear more details on why/how that is. Half the time was talking about how Sean could be punched here or there, but then in those same clips, Izzy is off balance and unable to throw a powerful counter because of his exaggerated defensive movement.
    Just a thought and I appreciate all the breakdowns!

    People like being mad and talk about being walked down by a jab like it's boring but the reflexes you need to employ a style like that without taking a lot in return is next level. It's one of the most badass styles in MMA. It's like a constant taunt, "i'm in your face and you can't do anything about it because I'm that good." It's crazy that the haters don't appreciate this. He walks down the champ and just dominates him for 25 minutes...walking him down. That's terminator shiet. It's funny that people wanna hate on it because Sean's abrasive. lol
    Great stuff, sir. Not sure if all those rights would have actually landed on Sean that night, but I'm sure we'll see in the future. I'm assuming he's adjusted from the Poatan KO and his reflexes were on point at the distance he dictated.

      100%. Mighty is the GOAT. But he assumes everyone needs to fight traditionally and technically like him. Not everyone is blessed with his mix of cardio, explosiveness and durability. Stricklands main weapon is patient pressure - he just likes to hover in range and grind you down over time. Strickland doesn’t look to one punch ko you, because he doesn’t have the power or a crazy chin so he doesn’t like to risk fire fights. He tries to win a war of attrition. Plus I think when Mighty watches the fights he pauses it and says look he’s open. But he’s failing to appreciate Strickland is a master of looking like he’s open and moving just perfectly out of the way the punch such that he doesn’t even alleviate the pressure. Standard explosive athletes don’t appreciate Stricklands ring craft I believe

      @TonecrafteLuthiery 4 месяца назад

      This isn’t boxing. Those are 4 ounce gloves. His chin is wide open for a right hand. Theres a reason the Philly shell isn’t as popular in MMA as it is in boxing. 4 ounce gloves cut right through the gap, the shoulder isn’t good enough to consistent stop right hand counters when you drop your left hand. With 12 or 16 ounce gloves, yeah, it works because it deflects the shot and takes some of the power off it so that even if it does land, it doesn’t land clean. In MMA, an accurate right hand can go right over the shoulder and hit the chin clean.

    Sean's style combined with Pereira training really helped the results here. Keep a good space where nothing KO can hit you and it's easy to block/neutralise attacks but also move forward just enough to keep him going backwards or sideways the whole fight. Throw feints and look for an opening but also don't overly commit because this guy can KO you before finish blinking. That one moment when he's stunned, land as many shots as possible to impress the judges.

    haha Sean looks like he's so far away and then his fist is sitting on your face, it's really fun to watch fighter's reactions to his jab, some get wobbled, some look like they squint in pain, others are like..GET OFF OF ME and others are like "okay, let me back up again try another approach...and then get jabbed again, Alex said it's like getting stung by a bee, DDP said it's like getting hit with a rock, he spears guys with it

      And he has his "paw, paw, HIT" where his hand is coming near your head but you think he's out of range because Sean isn't extending his shoulder, it's just a flat jab to measure distance. then he spear you with one with 30% more speed.

    I think a missed aspect of Sean’s game is that he rarely puts himself in a position to take a clean counter-strike.
    Even when he commits to a strike… he usually angles his body/head in a way that would make any counter attack get checked or a glancing blow at best.
    (Even when DJ is pointing out open counter strikes… Sean’s head is leaning away from Izzy’s fist.)
    Aside from the Pereira hook… I can’t think of any clean shots that landed on Sean in recent memory. And that wasn’t even a counter… it was just a sneaky left hook that knocked Sean out cold.
    His forward/backward movement is also second to none. He’s not as polished with lateral movement/strikes… but that’s why he stays just outside the effective range of lateral strikes. It’s simple… but it works.

    And he's raising his legs because his boxing is so much better, he can out box Izzy on one leg. Strickland defends his head mostly and closes the distance to minimise the damage from body kicks which require space. A smart fighter like Pereira and Driucus will use body shots to create openings to Stricklands head as Strickland has to eventually address the body damage.

  • @donavonhoward114
    @donavonhoward114 3 месяца назад

    Yes, that left hand is down, but if Izzy threw that right hand, that's when Sean would pull counter Izzy's straight right by rolling his shoulder, taking a half-step back with his back foot, and firing his own right hand, or a left hook over the top. Sean sets traps constantly. That's how Sean knocked Izzy down. After that, Izzy couldn't get anything going because he couldn't find any free shots against Sean without getting countered, or having to exchange with him which would risk another knockdown, and possibly a knockout. It's not like Sean is just going to keep his head on the center line when Izzy throws. Even if Izzy landed the right hand, Sean was going to roll with the punch to reduce the force, and then return fire. Sean rarely walks into punches unless his opponents find a way to set them up well. Pereira was able to do it, but he is a true expert of disguising punches, kicks, and finding ways to walk guys into his big left hook. DDP pretty much just had to apply heavy volume, and exchange with Sean, and take a lot of risks in order to be effective. He took a lot of punishment in the process, but DDP has an iron chin, and an iron will. Most guys who take the shots DDP, and Sean took in their fight would have been knocked out, or TKO'd. If they ever have a rematch, it will be another great fight, and I think Sean will make some adjustments because he could have won that fight with a little bit more offensive activity in 2 of those rounds.
