  • Today I am talking a little bit about how I operate in Flabby Chode studios in regards to compression. I talk briefly about the set up and then demonstrate a few ways I like to use compression with guitar utilizing the PedalPCB.com Byrdhouse Compressor. This compressor is based on the Janglebox compressor and is really great at evening out your sound and adding that delightful little squash.
I am using my trusty old 99 Fender Stratocaster into the Byrdhouse into an Effectslayouts Evil Owl Echo into an Effectslayouts.com Blue Wave Reverb into the Trinity Amps 18 watt with Celestion G12H30 and a Greenback 25. The Greenback has a Royer 121 and SM57 about 2 inches off the grill cloth and a Micparts.com U47 6 feet back.
All of these microphones are fed into my Scarlett 18i20 and blended in Reaper and everything is exported to Lumafusion where I then start the mind numbing process of editing.
Effectslayouts.com Evil Owl Echo is based on a Catalinbread Montevillian

Effectslayouts.com Blue Wave Reverb is an original design utilizing the Belton BTDR-2H digital reverb.

The Trinity Amps 18 Watt 2x12 is killing it lately for me!

The U-47 microphone is actually a old MXL V63M that I got for free when I bought my first interface 18 years ago and it never worked. I gutted it and installed this stuff into it and it is one of my favorite microphones to use.

Overdrive for your clean sound is perfect. That should be a common description of compressors!

Right! They do something so magical for your clean sound. It is challenging to demo them but I always have one on my board
