I think it’s a dark coaster they’re going to build a Oktoberfest because it in the next one is going to be over 200 feet of big launch, But launch coaches have reached the big popularity and then probably just trying to captivate on that
they have 6 chain lifts in their lineup if i have counted correctly so its not like everything is launched, also its what makes them the most money and what the gp like the most, which happens to be launches as of right now.
I do hope that the next coaster after this uses a lift hill. But this looks like a perfect fit for the park
They'll compromise and do a Maverick launched lift hill
I thought launch coasters were amazing
The castle used to be covered in snow and ice. I remember the day it opened. They blasted the ac inside the building so you felt frozen too. I miss it.
I actually really liked Dark Castle, and was disappointed when it was closed. Glad to see its finally getting replaced with something related, instead of just being used as space for something like employee holiday parties.

This ride was too good to be so unceremoniously shut down without warning. One of the best 4d rides you'd find outside of Disney or Universal.
I'm really hoping for more than lights, fog and projections when you "leave" the castle. I'm not saying they need to have intricate sets like on Haunted Mansion or anything like that. But it would be cool to have a few physical set features and maybe an audio-animatronic figure or two to spice things up. Maybe something like what you see on Flucht von Novgorod.
Busch Gardens is killing it. They need something on the level of Backlot stunt cars and this is spot on. It's like just as fast with better theming. Pantheon is my favorite coaster ever, and this plus the hybrid will be such a great addition!!

If you think 48" is a tall requirement, you should have seen the local news article abou the ride on announcement. They initially reported it as 68". And it wasn't a simple type because there was also a line like "Yes, over five and a half feet tall". By the time I saw something conflicting this they had fixed the article... but still.
From what I’ve heard from higher ups, the theming has gone over budget, so that’s probably a good thing
And I should know because…….I have been in television for TWENTY FOUR YEARS!
After Pantheon I am really REALLY hoping they do some theming here like they did with Verbolten's show building. Lights, effects, backgrounds, sound effects. Literally anything except for a black room with strobe lights.

I wish they were able to keep the old dark ride going. I know we all love coasters, but parks need other kinds of rides too.

BGW does an awesome job of turning a defunct ride into a spiritual successor indoor coaster
It would be cool if they would have made you ride on horseback instead of snowmobiles. I think it would fit the castle them better

I do absolutely feel the whole "another launch negativity with reason" angle coming from this announcement, though people following pretty much knew it was happening for a while, at least mostly. I think the cars should've been more looking like sleighs, and them actually redo it to be kinda like "revenge of the mummy" combined with the OG "curse of darkcastle." I also think they should forget about adding another coaster for a bit and save up to get a functioning, working dark ride. Also if this has 1/2 the theming it appears to be, it'll be fun and nice for people of probably nearly any age, and that is nice. I mean, 2 inches lower for "Invadr"(silent e) is about as functional as "Ice Breaker" getting knocked up after the premiere to 54" (might be 52"). I'd imagine this will be 42" not 46-48." I actually wish more would build these kinds of coasters, like Seaworld Orlando (unless this surf coaster thing actually has the seats rotate on areas then maybe that'll turn out better than it looks).
Really looking forward to it. Also it will be nice to spread out the haunt mazes. Will be great for the cold season too!

It just occurred to me that the snowmobile idea wasn’t nearly as cool as if they make the coaster cars look like wolves. It’d be a shout out to BOTH Darkastle and Big Bad Wolf in one ride

I mean verbolten does have different indoor settings so we could see something like that on this
The park wars between Bush Gardens Williamsburg, Dollywood and Carowinds are getting pretty serious..all 3 of them are solid parks but they keep raising the bar!
Gosh i remember riding Curse of Dark Castle
I remember being like 10 years old (it was the first week verbolten was open) and the line was LONG. The ride was in operation and we waited for like 2 hours?
I remember enjoying it! I’m glad I got to ride it! But I’m definitely excited for the new ride!

The only disappointment I have is that the ride vehicles are not the golden sleighs from the original attraction.
That probably wouldn’t have worked well considering the theme has to do with scientist and meteorologist, if you would’ve treated like real life they would rather use snowmobile than golden sleigh
As this may be a good thing to put in the building, I feel like this is kinda a missed opportunity. This park will have 4 launch coasters but non of them really have super intense launches. Usually you will have a launch coaster and the other one you will try to make a more intense experience but out of all 4 here, they are all kinda that boost LSM feel, no variety.
I think that’s more of a criticism of pantheon than this ride

I wonder if they will either recycle some of King Ludwig's voice lines from DarKastle or have the original actor or a replacement come in and record new lines...

I think people don’t realize how short 42” is, my 5 year old is 45”, when he was 4 he was 42”. Sitting alone in that seating arrangement in the upright position like that (even knowing it’s perfectly safe) makes me uncomfortable as a parent and most likely him. Maybe 48” is too tall, but not by much for this style of coaster. A regular sit-down where I could my arm around him? Easy-peasy

It looks ugly 😂 the ride itself is mega intense and probably will be kept till it kills somebody.
The enthusiast in me says "they don't need another launch coaster" but I understand why they went with this. Families won't necessarily look at this as "tamer Verbolten" and as a park that non-enthusiasts travel to the GP will see this as fully a dark ride so I understand why they went this way.
So only 1 more launch coaster after Darkoaster for this park to be tied with Kings Dominion with the most launch coaster record. So After this ride, the entire state of Virginia will have a history of 9 launch coasters.
@Coaster Studios, Busch Gardens Williamsburg isn't the only theme park that's looking to open a new attraction come next year. Dollywood is, too: Big Bear Mountain! Care to make a note of that?

I can only hope they do some good work with the theming, I mean small indoor coasters can work insanely well with the right kind of theming. I mean one of the best comparisons I can probably think of is Van Helsings Factory at Movie Park Germany. I just really hope they do the theming well.
At this rate, it won’t be long before I need to spend two days at BGW.
I love the idea of a family indoor coaster, but I don’t know, with the height requirement and capacity… this is a miss to me.
I will reserve final judgement until I ride it though
There was a time when Kings Dominion seemed to be gunning to be the launch coaster capital of the world. I guess Busch Gardens is taking the mantle.

a 48 inch coaster was decidedly NOT what BGW needed.
I’ve always wished that Cedar Fair would put a launch family coaster inside the Plants vs Zombies building at Carowinds, instead of demolishing it completely.

I am glad to see them using this empty space for a new ride. I honestly hate seeing them use space like that for seasonal or special events. That's why I wish Kings Island would build something in the former Crypt building.

Rode it today, it was ok but the animation is absolutely missing. I was hoping for something like the Harry Potter Coaster in Universal Studios and it was even close to the same level. I can't even describe how disappointed I was with the very little animation.

I rode Darkcoaster today. It is an okay experience.its not that great.
The fact that it's the park's 4th multi-launch coaster in just over a decade means that I don't care and find it to be a trash addition, I would consider a powered coaster a better addition (100% serious). If they didn't install so many multi-launch coasters pretty much back-to-back I'd have a better opinion on the ride as for what they had to work with it's impressive, however the oversaturation of multi-launch coasters in the park make this ride to be a waste of money in my eyes.
If the Drachen Fire replacement is yet another launch coaster (let alone a multi-launch) I'll lose all respect that I have for BGW, or what little I have left after ignoring other coaster types that would have benefitted the park better than just spamming multi-launch coasters.
I'm kinda disappointed here. "Hey this is the most gorgeous theme park on the planet. Let's build a rollercoaster indoors."
to be fair, the building is already there, and has been there for years. You can't even see it from the guest pathways.
First indoor straddle is a dumb record to begin with, but at least do you research and make sure it's even actually true.
