I have followed BTS for 12 months, yes I know such a short time, I actually received my army membership today!yay.
I’m a 65 year old Australian women and I absolutely adore BTS. I love Jungkook, mmm gosh he’s so handsome and talented, he has such a beautiful character his voice is out of this world! but then I love Rm so handsome and the perfect leader, but then how can you go past world wide handsome the man himself Jin! His beautiful singing voice, But then I love that ray of sunshine Jhope he’s so cute and full of joy and his dancing wow!! but then I love Suga , his rapping his deep thinking soul, but then I love Jimin my goodness he’s beautiful and so sweet, with the singing voice of an Angel, his dancing is on another level, but then I love V most handsome man, his velvety voice when he speaks and when he sings wow. How can anyone treat any of them with distain and hate. BTS is made up of 7 kings, 7 wonderfully talented gentlemen, each individual contributing their talent to come together as one. They have all gotten really stupid hate. In the early days people said RM and Hope were "too ugly" to be idols. They said Jimin was fat. And in recent years, really horrible people will make posts on the anniversary of V's grandmother's death and say things like they hope he joins her soon. I really don't get that sort of negative energy.
Taehyung is one of the most popular and highly paid KPOP idols, he is one of the few artists who is popular in many areas of entertainment and SNS. Of course, this makes insecure people jealous.

It is impossible not to love all the members. Each member brings something special to the table, each member is a beautiful soul who loves ARMY and does not discriminate. So it does not make sense to me that people love one member and not the others. True ARMY loves them all because we see who they are inside first and love their music above all.
I can't stand solostans who call them selfs Army! My ultimate bias is Yoongi but I love all 7 of them and I am so proud of all 7 of them because ALL 7 of them saved my life. Plus... how the hell can you NOT love them all. They are all so talented and adorable and they have their own beautiful personality's. I have a Bias Line, with Yoongi in the center, Tae to his right, and Jimin to his left. And the rest of the members are right behind them, arms about each others shoulders.
But when I first found BTS, I was initially drawn to RM and Suga.
I think a bias is just the one you resonate the most with - whether it be musically, performance wise, personality, their looks, or any combination of everything about them.
And all seven are amazing individuals, who are talented in so many ways. And it's not just their powerful, deep, and moving rap; the powerful, soaring, emotive, and moving vocal; the awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping, and fluidly beautiful dance that takes your breath away; their controlled, refined, energetic, and sometimes chaotically ecstatic performances; their intelligent, humble, compassionate, caring, enthusiastic, sometimes deeply philosophical, emotionally astute, perceptive, thoughtful, enthusiastic, sometimes chaotic, introspective, and artistic personalities; the amazing painting skills of some of the members; their writing skills - whether it be poetry, letters, music, song lyrics - they find the words to express their deepest selves, while still keeping parts of themselves, necessarily, private; or the sheer, seemingly innate - though honed by years of hard work - athleticism of some of members (all to individual degrees, and some more than they give themselves credit for); nor is it just they way they are always there for each other, their tight bonds of love and trust - their BROTHERHOOD.
IT'S ALL OF THOSE THINGS, and so much more. That is why we love them. ALL OF THEM.
And that is why I will never understand toxic solo stans. How can you claim to love one member - and hate those that are dearest to their hearts?
I have been lucky, not being on social media I have missed a lot of toxicity. I have only encountered one toxic solo stan on RUclips - an "RM stan" who tolerated the other members of the rap line, and whose comments about the vocal line were offensive to every member of the group. And I have encountered (in one videos comments - and I deeply regret checking out that video) a couple of "OT7" or "ARMY" who were quite happy to try to tear down Jimin. Unpleasant experiences I hope never to repeat.
But the sheer ignorance in those haters comments was mind-boggling. I was offended, even angered, by their comments. At the same time, much of what they spouted was laughable, and sadly desperate and pathetic. I didn't know whether to yell at them, laugh, at them, or feel sorry for them - reasonable, rational, discussions DO NOT work, sadly.

I remember when Tae was growing his hair out a bit and a hater said he should cut his hair. He said this with the guys around him. Funny thing is JK said he was going to grow his hair out like a rocker after hearing Tae say that. All 7 boys, did, grow their hair long. 💜
While Tae is my main bias, the rest of the guys are just as important to me. BTS is 7 and we are blessed to be able to see and hear such talented young men!! I actually look on them as if they are my sons since I am so old, LOL, I'm 60. I have children their age and older! BTS is so unique and special!! i never thought I would become so invested in a group as I am with BTS. Solo stans and those who like to "ship" the guys with other members are not ARMY and I don't even consider them fans per se. They make the rest of the fandom look bad in my opinion

Anyone can 'stan' a member harder than the others but not go overboard... Anyone can also have a single bias (or a few)... but what's infuriating are those 'antis' who pose the members against each other, victimizing their own biases and saying that their bias isn't getting the same amount of love and support compared to others (and in turn, making it other member/s fault that their biases are a 'victim').
Some antis would pretend to be OT7 but insinuate negative notions against one member. There are also romantic shippers out there who basically make it their life's work to support two members and believe themselves that those members are in a committed, romantic relationship. These can get t0xic pretty fast if they feel like their 'ship' is being interrupted or 'messed with' by another member... T_______T even though NO ONE in the group has ever mentioned about their romantic partner preferences (and dare I say, they would never divulge any romantic relationship because of these over-the-top shippers --- maybe unless it's for the sake of the members announcing their engagement or marriage to an actual life partner)...
Basically, there are different types, including 'sasaengs', those who are hardcore stalkers who take idols' personal information, may or may not follow idols around even on their personal time, or those who fund their fellow sasaengs to get the idols' information, and there are also those who sell or trade those information to private individuals. It's crazy.

Solos/akgaes ("toxic fans") often don't watch content except for the member they stan, and if a member does speak up and say something about how much they love the other members, solos/akgaes will claim that "the company made them say that."
I am personally looking forward to the day that solos and shippers give up stanning the guys. Especially the solos for the maknae line (Tae, Jimin and JK) because they are absolutely savage against the other vocalists because of the perceived 'competition' between them.
I have been with BTS since their debut and seen them seven times in concert. The hate for individual members is getting worse and worse unfortunately. I hope when they return that all ARMY come together and cheer them on as a group, but still respect each of them as individual artists as well. None of them deserve any toxicity.

Akgae aka solo stans also pop up in comment sections, e.g. a JK akgae said some rude things about RM's artistry under a recent MV, but he received pushback ranging from "Solo stans should shut up" to someone pointing out JK being on record saying his happiness began with RM and he always wants to be in a place where RM is the leader. The akgae had nothing further to say.
The members have joked about creating their own BTS village where they'll live. The idea of the members getting together for cookouts with a karaoke machine set up while JK is in charge of the grill (this will be much funnier after watching Suchwita!) or going on fan cruises after they're too old to do their choreos just makes me smile.

Jimin has been my bias since 2019 and it has never changed hes the one that cought my eyes first but with that being said I love all them and him being my bias I dont talk bad about the other members because they are first a group and when they first started BTS has been built on love and hope and loving one another If you are a true Army you should know that some have been Army longer then me and it shouldn't be any hate because thats not what BTS teach. Im pretty sure BTS have seen and heard the hate that some Army's has commented about there member and its sad really .

First example was 2013 and they were all teens (V was 17 )
While I do agree with the points raised in a video I find do it exaggerating the situations used as an example.
First, the video of a lady passing Taehyung has nothing to do with haters. It was one of the first fan signs in 2013-2014, when the fan base was not big enough, so there are only few fan cams available. But on another video it was clear that this lady was a staff as she passed Jin as well and went to RM to tell him something. There is no line up behind her and soon BTS finished up the event and left the setting. Taking this into account it’s clear why V kept looking at her trying to understand what is the message. This specific fan cam does not show the whole situation and is open for interpretation. I think that’s why it gets referred so much by newer fans (2018 and later) as an example of a rude fan behavior. I do believe that these things happened on fan signs, however framing the staff as a hater feels unfair to her.
Second, comments about one’s looks are NOT uncommon in South Korea. And yes, it puts pressure on a person and is considered a rude behavior on the west BUT ignoring cultural differences is also not the right thing to do.
Third, comments about gaining weight might not be rude depending on the context. For example, Jimin once had had a really tough time with his dieting. It went to a point that the members themselves had to step in and expressed their concerns. So it might be that the person saying that had really good intentions and really mean it.
I think this video raises important topic, however it would be nice if we can be nicer and more understanding to each other and towards the members.
The comments made in this video were legit so mild compared to some of the things I’ve read and seen about some of the members, particularly on X. I’ve seen some absolutely disgusting, cruel, demeaning posts about some members by ‘apparent’ ARMYs. It is so messed up! And unfortunately then other ‘ARMYs’ say horrendous things about a member in defence of their bias. It’s like this spiral where solo Stan’s are competing who can be the meanest and cruelest towards a member that isn’t their bias…..
My bias is Jimin first and foremost 🥵💜 and Suga 💜 but I absolutely love and support all 7 members!!! They are all so incredibly unique, talented and beautiful in their own way. I couldn’t even imagine posting crap about ANY of them - even to defend another member.. It is very sad that some Akgaes can be so negative and hurtful towards other members they dont like. Unfortunately I have seen a lot of this, not just from BTS fans but other KPop fans too. I agree with you Nesto that its great to have your bias but also please appreciate the other members of the group too, after all, it wouldn't be BTS if it didnt have ALL of the 7 members.
As soon as someone asks You to not react to a certain member there is a red flag. I feel more connected to Suga, but I love the 7 , I AM an Army who loves the 7 of them. when others release their music I stream like crazy for them and not only for Suga. I love Jimmin videos because he is in fact mesmerizing! I just loooooove V's voice, RM is for me the most incredible rapper, Jungkook is an amazing pop singer, Jhope has so unique sound as a rapper and I just melt with Jin's voice and personality. So we should appreciate each one of them as members of the group we love even if we have a bias.
I watch another reaction channel for bts, too, show support his bias but also the group as a whole has a separate channel. I believe this is a good balance to avoid the rude people.
All the guys have been severely hurt by haters. Jimin reading the hate comments when RM and Suga noticed kills me. The lives are filled with vicious comments that ARMYS do their best to counter by commenting until they are run off the streams chat.

There’s no OT6 or whatever, it’s only OT7…. If someone has a problem with it they should search for a solo artist who’s not in a group

In the beginning...even in the video for No More Dream...J-Hope used a mask. It's a pretty cool looking mask. Until you realize/learn he did it because people said he was ugly. For a while, he didn't get any fanmail. There is a clip of Jimin delivering mail to them all and the look on J-Hope's face when he realized he did actually get some? It's both priceless AND heartbreaking. If I remember correctly, he even asks Jimin "Me? Really???"
Unfortunately, there are always going to be solo stans (akgaes). Especially the more popular a group gets. But, as we all say, those AREN'T real fans.
As you said yourself, we can have a bias but we still love the whole group. There is sometimes just a "stronger" connection to one member in particular - due to his vocals/raps, his personality, his looks, they way he dances, maybe even one of his other skills (or lack thereof), etc. - yet, in the end, we still support all 7...and always will.
