- Less known that the lengthy Pacific Crest and the Continental Divide trail, Canada's Great Divide Trail follows the Rockies northward. From the bushwacking and routefinding in the Palliser Pass region to wandering by luxerious moutain lodges with large backcountry campgrounds. Researching the what would be the best section of the whole 700 mile trail from the US / Canada bordor from Waterton Lake to Kakwa Orovintianl Park just north of Jasper this 120 mile section was chosen as the ulimate sampler. The route connects the North-Over ridge in the south, then heads north to Assibone and Banff and then crosses over the divide westward to the acclaimed Rockwall trail. With many reports of a majority of the Great Divide trail spending too much time in the forrest, this route in contrast rarely maintains more than a few miles in the deep forested valleys before climbing to the views and beauty only the high country provides. The route contains unparrelled mountain scenery; it ranks with some of the best two weeks you could possibly spend in the mountains.

Dan has the greatest backcountry videos out there. His photographic sense is superb, and he picks the greatest trips (a few I didn't even think of..). Thanks so much.
Thank you for this beautiful video. I hope someday to trek this area. Totally awesome!
Love the high country. Thanks. Humped many a mile in Glacier NP with film and gear. Old school! Loved every minute, bugs, devil's club, wind, hail, and snow included.
