@@DJALEXBROWN not sure how they could help me, maybe I bought the wrong frequency, the thing is that the handheld works fine 90% of the time, and specially indoors in big saloons is fine to do like 30-40meters, but in outdoor ceremonies I have dropouts that I can’t stand and afford to have..
People often "think" of it but engineers need to have the receivers close to them in most situations so that if anything goes wrong they can troubleshoot. Take for example if a mic battery dies, without the receiver next to me, all I see is that I am not getting audio from the mic, which could mean the mic is off, having issues, or a dead battery. If I have the receiver next to me, I can glance over and see the battery is dead and communicate to crew that the battery needs to be changed when possible. Same thing if the mic is off or faulty, if I see it's off I can have crew tell the actor to turn their mic on, and if we are having issues with a transmitter, I can have crew give the actor another mic.
Totally agree. Had mic receivers up on stage for many venues, never had a single problem. Seeing extra info is nice but it's not worth it if the sound desk is too far away.
Yes, my typical wedding setup for a ceremony is a cardioid or omnidirectional lav on the officiant with a handheld for any readings. Ive seen videographers use this method too. Another way of doing it is to have the officiant hold a handheld but this opens them up holding the mic in a bad spot and screwing your audio.

@@erichochgesang3070 The omnidirectional mic will pick everyone up as long as it is places properly, most dynamic mics, which are most lavs are somewhere between cardioid an omnidirectional so either will work, personally I would look for omnidirectional lavs when picking a mic to be safe. Omnidirectional means it will essentially pick up sounds in every direction whereas cardioid, supercardoid, and hypercardioid have varying rear element rejection. We could also discuss other mic pickup patterns but I doubt you will encounter them in your search for a lav.

I have a BLX 4 with BLX1 Body pack...could I use that for ebook recording/podcasting or do I need to buy a handheld mic and a pop filter? I'm looking to reduce noise as much as possible and get really clear sound in my recording.
You can use it but If you want really clear sound, wireless is not the way to go. Look at podcast mics like the shure SM7B for the clearest cleanest audio.
Depends on the application, they both sound just as good, most of the difference is in build quality, the PG is definitely cheaper than the SM, they also share that difference in price. Since my mics get handled by a range from professional to consumers, I chose the cheaper PG option in case it gets broken, since it will be cheapest to replace. That being said, I've had professional performers use the PG's and they love them.
