    Great video! I also use that device exactly as you do but I really recommend trying out some modeled instruments with it. If you think it is expressive with sample libraries wait till you use it with audio modeling‘s wind instruments or other similar libraries!

      Oh man. YES. SWAM brass and winds are sexy as hell with a breath controller. I don’t know why anyone bothers with sampled brass anymore.

    Thanks Zach. I also have a TEC BBC breath controller. When it comes to strings, have you experimented with the "head tilt" controller for controlling CC1 and/or CC11? I also combine the "bite control" feature for vibrato - so you get a tilting head for modulation and a bite to add vib. Sure you look like Stevie Wonder with a migraine but it works quite well!

      Hey Greg, do you use the bite controller a lot? Is the extra weight noticeable? I’m looking at purchasing the TEC with or without the bite controller.

    • @totalmusicfreedom
      @totalmusicfreedom 2 года назад +2

      Hi@@dbmusicproductions9181, I can't profess total expertise with the TEC controller and I don't use it as a matter of course. That said, I don't think the extra weight would be noticeable (given that I don't know what it would be like without it. I only know the TEC with the bite controller so that's my only reference point). It takes a bit of bending and twisting the holder/frame to feel comfortable and well balanced. If you don't get this right, it can sometimes feel a little awkward in the mouth but with some patience it works out just fine. I wouldn't say the bite controller is a game-changer. It's just another CC you can control in real-time so it's more flexible, but if you don't have it, you could simply play in any other CCs after the fact. Hope that helps...

    thank you for telling composers to actually play music. without getting to[o] into it. i wrote a thesis studying the performance practice of pianists in the late 19th C. back then improvisation was crucial to how they introduced new repertoire. and what i came across is that it was virtually unheard of (unintended pun) to see a composer who didn't play something. it's crazy to me to see now how many composers don't even play an instrument.

I have a DX7s keyboard but Yamaha's original BC1 controller is no longer in production. Wondering if I can use this TEC controller with my DX7s instead.

    Hi Zach. Really appreciate this demo. I've been watching many video's about the bbc1. I am wondering why you chose the bbc1 instead of the bbc2 which adds nod and tilt? Unless you had bought that before the bbc2 was released. In that case which one would you recommend. I'm learning to compose for movie, media, and video games.

    Zach, I purchased this same breath controller about 2 years ago. I could never figure out how to set it up in the instruments in Logic Pro. So, it’s been collecting dust.
    Also, how do you get the virtual instruments in your template to sound so good? I think I’m doing something wrong. I have VSL Special Editions. When I’m trying to record midi I can barely hear the instruments, and they really don’t sound like their characteristic instruments. Sorry to ask all of these questions but you seem to have videos that I can follow along and understand so I thought that I would ask. Many people on RUclips or these “online courses “ skip a lot and assume things that people like me don’t know. And asking for help in the forums is almost like asking to be ridiculed for what you don’t know. I just thought I would ask.

      Hey Jon, that's a HUGE question worth hours of material and years of practice. MIDI realism happens over time through lots of trial and error, listening and imitation, and learning your software.
      This video might help as a starting point for you:
