If you click on a sun you can see how many planets are around it even if you haven't discovered all of them yet. Didn't matter in this game but worth doing before you colonize something with only part of the area discovered.
One major issue I have is the Alien GPT and how hyped it is when it's still feels VERY limited. The portraits are not generated each time you make a new race, it just picks portraits based on what it thinks will fit. Why you got robots when you asked for feline. And the few races I've done, it's felt like it doesn't quite understand what I asked for. Having a description of unified peace lizards and the bio it generated was about conquering for war. It's got some weird quirks.
Haha I think it was actually because he was saying it really loudly and in a high pitch and the filter on his mic automatically cut it off a little as a way to limit the loudness from his mic. Prevent earrape type of thing. But it was great timing
I joined Early Access last year, but try as I might, I just could not enjoy the game there were too many bugs. Has it improved at all since and is it worth another try?
I still don't know why they made the Altarians blue. I will probably get GalCiv 4 at some point, but there are some things holding me back; for example, I was never a fan of the whole citizen mechanic. I must admit though, the whole sector thing really intrigues me.
From what I can see in the video its mostly tweaks and upgrades as mechanics go, no major changes (outside of sectors and slipstream? the last one i played was 3 and it has been almost 10 years since then). But graphically and what the AI can handle looks like major upgrades, and on top of that its only 40$ US on steam.
Is this like ordinary Civilization? Are there any good video animations in the game, do you build cities or something, how long can the games last in it ? Thanks
Something smells......this looks excactly like my GalCiv III game....which looks excactly like my GalCiv II game..... Is Stardock a synonym for milk the unsuspecting public for all its worth?
Agreed. One of the holy grails of 4X games is rock solid diplomacy. I think that generative AI has the potential to be an absolute game changer in that regard. Something that can dynamically respond to player actions and also push its own 'agenda' has the potential to be revolutionary and if there is a company that has the drive to see something like that through to completion it's Stardock. Say what you will about Brad Wardel and his tendency to run his mouth, shoot himself in the foot when it comes to PR, and bite off more than he can chew, Stardock has a history of continuing to support their games long after most other dev studios would have abandoned them and moved on. I mean Fallen Enchantress was getting updates 9 years after release in 2022.
I've wanted to like Stardock's games from time to time, but... I just don't. Major features of GalCiv III never actually worked as advertised. Sins of a Solar Empire was just... not very good. The whole Star Control II debacle was just plain embarassing. They moved from their Windows utility market into games, but just... never quite understood that games were supposed to be fun.
Why? This is only some additional lines in the source code implementing a quality of life feature. AI is not evil. And to put it in the right context... Most famous AI systems are not even really intelligent. Just artificial. 😉
Seeing the floating cat heads with the same body color as the background and the cut off text 20 minutes in... Instant amateur hour vibes, shit that would look bad in a free mod, let alone a game they're actually charging money for.
@@araulius2132 100% I was listening to Brad on one of eXplorminate's podcasts. They are actively hiring artists and writers to add to their art library and train the AI. There is a lot of danger to creative fields with generative AI, but it really seems like Stardock is trying to go about it in the right way.
The AI stuff can be ignored, its in no way a turn-off. The text wasn't cut off, it was too large to fit on a policy card, if you hover your cursor over it you can read the full text. Its also not a finished game, it clearly states it is pre-release and it may lack some polish. If you don't like that, don't buy it yet, no need to be disparaging.
Choosing to support and take a sponsorship from stardock after their past anti-consumer practices is a bad look Quill. I really hope your streaming channel isn't doing so poorly as to require this type of continued sponsored content.
AI generated art is my #1 reason for having zero interest in this. Artists get the shaft enough as it is, and this is just going to make things worse for actual human beings, as a whole.
Yea, but they are using AI ChatGTP clone and limited Ai art. So getting no $$$ from me. Also all AI art is not protected. This is a unsubscribe for me.
Mate they fed there own art and no other into it im pretty sure that aint the enemy why the hell would you unsubscribe from quill for that hell he donates most of his cash to charity why do you think he has to take sponsorships
Part 2 will be out on the 17th!
so long wait! I was hoping for p2 already ;)
I note Quill has the obligatory GalCiv4 Catgirl civ already generated
Theres a Galaxy Civ4?
*Originally dropped on Epic Games store*
Ah, thats why i didnt know.

The day the space cats meets space dogs is going to be glorious

"This divine entity... guides the Church's every action with a celestial hand." And then knocks it off the table.
I'm consistently impressed by the quality and depth of your video content.
Excellent playthrough....quite informative and entertaining!
It's not just from other GalCiv games, the alien wriggling around as you generated it is from Star Control Origins, one of their other games.
Why is part 2 before part 1 in your youtube playlist?
So disappointing that their influence spread like whispers and not whiskers.
Vids are out of order in the playlist
I kiss the charm of Masters of Orion (and MOO 2)
Great description, but I was upset that they don't menace of with spikes of anything.
I don't care if it's intentionally done because of algorithms or some kind of automatism - but "mASSive" being censored at the beginning is hilarious.

imtro made me think of spaceballs the movie
I think that opening cutscene is new, I don't recall it. That council thing seems new, too.
all hail the holy cats.
I didn't even know this was coming to steam, i'm definitely going to buy it (eventually, not now, i'm busy with other games).

Where is the Orange cat of Chaos?
Is the move from Gal Civ 3 with all DLC to 4 worth the jump? Is there much change? 😊

Nope, AI is BS
Vizzard I is a class 18! planet you say? sounds like a great planet ;)
the playlist is in the wrong order

RIP art dept. AI created. So wonder if there's a content filter? What would the Empire of Large Breasted Nudists bring up?
You can move your capital for free, and in this case you probably should. That's not a great place for it.

He said straight up it's from stardocks own art library as input. They aren't stealing anything from anybody by using their own art as input.
