    I don’t think people realize how impressive it is to close a CoC #3 gripper. It’s essentially as impressive as his shooting. Nasty hand strength there. 🤙🇺🇸

      Right? Yeah, I think only two people on EARTH have closed a #4.

    Great Points!👍 I would add from the perspective of an older guy that as we age into our late 40s the extenser muscles on top of the forearm can develop problems from a very strong grip. This can cause a lot of pain at the top of the forearm near the elbow. I've tried the bands to strengthen the extensors to compensate but the best for me has been to hang from a pull up bar by one hand. That strengthens and stretches the extensors back out allowing me to have a strong grip with no pain.

    The second you said captains of crush I knew your advice was solid. Low rep, strength, not from the spring goods store. Great advice.

    So glad for this video. My hands were weak enough that my grip on the pistol varied greatly depending on how tired I was, or my energy levels etc. I watched this, ordered a 6 piece set, started with a 150lb. After 6 days of this, my right hand can close it and my left can almost close it, and my grip on the gun at any given time is consistent and sufficient. Once my left hand can close the 150, which at this rate will be like tomorrow, I’ll move up to the 200lb. Vogel is right, I truly am amazed at what a difference this has made, even in a very short time.

    Just ordered some on Amazon. Because Im such a strong old goat with weights I have never dealt with the loss of grip strength due to aging but Ive been feeling it lately in my training. Thanks for the push, "A close buddy trained with you".

    i got SKLZ grippers from the store and they are adjustable and the max is pretty good so maybe a good place for some people to get started. i'll have to pick up some of these crush ones though. thanks.

      fyi, i just got my first captains of crush. I went with No. 1 which says it's 140lbs and i can do at least 8 reps. So i picked up a No. 2 and could already do 4 each hand and 2 inverted. Maybe move up to a 3 soon. Nice quality. The SKLZ gripper is 20-90lbs apparently and i was doing about 15-20 reps on the max setting. Think it feels harder bc grip is more slippery maybe. Just a point of reference for anyone interested

    Bathroom scale for example shows at how many pounds you can squeeze and not shake, that shakiness in the hand goes away as your hand strength increases making the pounds go higher, the shake or bounce in the muscle means it has reached its limit and it can make your shots go off center, especially if your a competitive shooter who has many targets and stages you don't want shake or bounce in muscle, there is a tendency for a competitive shooter to loosen grip to go faster so focus must be on having that same grip pressure with no changes for your whole shooting course

    So, I injured tendons in my support hand doing pronated dumbbell curls, and my grip strength on my left hand has been bunk for the past three months. I can feel it when presenting, and while I can close a grip tool easily with my right hand, my left hand takes a lot of effort, and causes a decent amount of pain.

      Train finger extension. You're spending too much time trying to close the hand between training it and gripping firearms. Your extensors in your fingers can get weak and create a painful imbalance in your hands. Amazon has cheap rubber sets that fit all of your fingers and allow you to try to open your hand.

      @samuraiman7777 I started off with the trainer it's 100lbs I recommend programs from Jed Johnson of Diesel crew helped me make huge gains. Stick to iron mind grippers they cost more but are the best made and most comfortable. Other brands use thinner handles that bruise your hands.

    I have shooter's elbow (tennis elbow, whatever). Curious if Robert has dealt with this and if so, how he treated it. I think if I hit the grippers now it would make it worse.

    • @saveapossum7195
      @saveapossum7195 6 месяцев назад

      Same problem, grippers make it worse. As far as relief I use a deep tissue massage gun.

    • @tomanderson6140
      @tomanderson6140 6 месяцев назад

      @@saveapossum7195 It finally went away, though it's threatening to come back if I overdo anything. True to what I read online, it will go away on its own in about a year. Massage gun or maybe red light therapy could be good, but I've also changed my grip to Grauffel's grip, with the support hand index finger on the trigger guard and pressure front to back instead of crushing with the grip. Since he's world champ, the take-home is that with practice, there are many approaches that work. He switched to that style because the chest and back muscles are bigger and fatigue less, which allows him to put in more practice time. That would also help avoid hand/elbow injury. In any case for those of us with no hope or desire of being champion material, avoiding injury as we age is even more important, so I'm gonna call baloney on Vogel's gripper training, at least for me.
