Judith Martin In Conversation 2024

The Rue Pigalle Textiles Group meets online once a month, on the first Friday, to share our own work and catch up - we have embroiderers, quilters, knitters, weavers, felters, appliqué-ists and all kinds of fibre artists in our numbers - and those like me who are just there to appreciate and learn.
Sometimes we invite a speaker - recently we held a very special online meeting to hear from the Canadian textiles legend that is Judy Martin. I first saw Judy’s work at Guildworks in Bloomfield, Prince Edward County - she recently sold the piece ‘My Awakened Heart’ there. I knew immediately that we had to meet her, and was so excited when she agreed to.

I was so lucky to see a wonderful exhibit of Judith Martin's on Manitoulin Island. We were visiting and in Gore Bay. Her work is interesting, deep, beautiful, textural. I came away feeling touched by beauty and much to think about.
