I started playing 2042 again consistently since like early 2022 and I can say that its definitely much more playable than a year ago but it still doesn't feel like how Battlefield used to be. The gameplay is fun but all the immersion and military feeling is just lacking completely.
Yeah. Better performance didn't give me enough fun to keep at it. Uninstalled last week. It's just not Battlefield.
Yeah, it feels more like a huge chaotic Cod game mode.
@The Omnissiah but there’s a reason it’s called battlefield 2042.. they wanted to be a futuristic immersion. Hence that’s the point of this project. At this point.. people are basically saying keep repasting the code on a new engine with a new name.. honestly people need to learn to adapt… look at COD.. that game forever will be the same and people complains that they never change and then be hypocrite that it changed.. people can’t make up their mind. One thing for sure though.. At least they’re doing something different.. just need some revamp and it shall be good

The map atmosphere between 2042 and games like bf3, bf4 and bf1 is so different. In former bfs the maps felt lived in or like a battle is taking place. In 2042 it feels like a movie set where the cgi department forgot to put in the atmosphere. It‘s just props put around somewhere.
The explosions are mediocre the new maps are shockingly bad and the specialists, they’ve done this game so wrong.
Its true for bf1 and bf5 but not bf3 and bf4 where maps are mostly just maps that look like they are made for a movie just like bf2042 and this three games dont have atmosphere .

Or BC2 or BF1942 for that matter.

I just can't understand why they dumbed down tanks so much. In BF3 you had active protection (finally added - and only to the rail gun tank), reactive armor, and directional damage differentials. It is SO stupid that someone can sit backed in with the unarmored portion of the tank and it sustains the same exact damage as if you hit the sloped armor on the front. Every single battlefield since at least BFBC2 had directional damage models and it constantly irritates me.
Specialists should just be reworked as a gadget you select instead of a character.
They will doing it in next updates as they said in they roadmap videos
their passives should turn into some sort of perk/specialization aswell.
This is exactly correct. I'd like to see something like a point system. Say you get 3 points and specialist gadgets are each worth 1 to 2 points. You build you specialists gadgets, then you get a class gadget, and then one more gadget. It's hard to run a spawn beacon when you can't also run c4 or a launcher with it.
Dice just needs to drop a map and weapons pack, we definitely need more content

INFURIATED EVERY DAY PLAYING 2042!!
Because I play with my clan… and because DICE restricts or limits the “stay and play” experience from server to server you can only stay and play with 3 friends or a single squad.
This is infuriating as the “second squad” or additional friends have to abandon and recreate a party EVERY FRICKING SERVER WE GO TO!!!
You cannot join a party on an existing party already playing! You can only join on a party as an individual.
2042 was designed with ABSOLUTELY NO CLAN OR PLAYING WITH FRIENDS ASPECT!!!

After it came to EA Play, I tried 2042 for the first time since the beta. I thought it was broadly fine. Playable and reasonably enjoyable, but all it made me do was think about actually good BF games, so I just re-downloaded BF1 instead. The last two BF games have just left me hankering for the better games.
I bought this game on sale for $28. Which even felt steep for how BF was running at the time. But the recent update has improved my graphics quality and fps. Its decent now. But I wouldn't pay full price.

Increasing player count to a battlefield gives it that large scale war feel. Like you said, it just comes down to proper maps. I hope they keep 128 for the next game

Good content, as always. That gameplay in the background got some sick gameplay with great Battlefield moments! I had almost forgotten how good you were at the game.
The switch to live service has been a disaster for Battlefield.
There are some features I love to see, like peek and lean mechanics, maybe add support for FSR 2.0 for people with AMD gpus

I think that “specialists” would have worked so much better if they just kept the 4 classes and put each of the abilities into class categories as well. For example you could choose assault and choose between a wing suit or parachute as the “passive” and then be able to take a gadget like a grappling hook (more like the hardline grapple though), armor or med pens. Support could choose an ammo bag (angels bag) or health pistol as their “passive” and then take c5, or armor as their gadget. So on and so forth. Obviously go back to restricted weapons and throwables as well. It would be the best of both worlds. Allowing for more variety of gameplay than bf4 but still encouraging roles and teamwork in order to win matches.

It's free to play on xbox, so that says a lot. The shitty games usually get dumped there for free.

RUSH has been the most "TEAM" oriented version of 2042 I've found and it's been pretty enjoyable
Rush is dead here in Brasil, we dont have enough players and we dont have a server browser :(, noone wanna wait 20 minutes in menu to find players to start a server, what a STUPID decision, i made many friends in bc2/bf3 just by play with or against them in the same servers.
The music in 2042 is awful and grating. Someone needs to do a montage of 2042 gameplay with the epic music of Battlefield 1.
The game has certainly improved but it still needs work.
but my biggest wish I would be the addition of gyro aiming option on Ps5/PC.
I personally think that it should already be a standard option in games…
Oh yes - while it will probably never be added to 2042, I hope gyro aiming becomes the new standard for FPS games on consoles or with controllers in general. Personally, I'm M&K guy, but I believe gyro aiming is the key to end the 'aim assist debacle' that's been with us for decades at this point and only has gotten worse with forced crossplay that's not input-based.
Whilst overall the game has improved, the lack of a server browser is my main complaint. Being in a region (AUS/NZ) with a small player base can make it difficult to find a game even with cross play. If a new map comes out, forget about playing any other conquest map. You can't even get enough players to start a match even with bots.

How bf went from BC2/BF3 to this? I still cant believe it
It’s only a half decent shooter, on Spearhead, after spending too much time trying to make controller input feel comfortable. Specialists are still the game’s biggest problem and will never be removed. It’s definitely not a Battlefield game, as fighting a Dozer reminds me on a daily basis.
Yet it’s a multiplayer game I can actually have fun in, automatically making it my second favorite multiplayer game at the moment. Sad.
I think the game became quite enjoyable. But unfortunately I have some weird id_pc_corrupt_save_body issue going on since last week that I wasn't able to fix yet. And with the release of the formidable Darktide I don't see a lot of reason to investigate the issue.

I've been playing since day one and to me the latest map makes it feel like new game. Honestly loving it at the moment... alot more then Warzone2.
Going to add something here that Flak can't know about.
If you live in south america and want to play this game i have a couple of points to make.
The new patch made the game playable on middle end PCs but it stills feels horrible compared to BFV for exemple.
Breakthrough match making is non existant, it's incredibly hard to find a match on any mode that isn't 128 conquest and even than you'll find it hard to fill a server because the people are scatered. There is not a lot of people playing this game, at least in SA.
I appreciate comments like this. I know it's a struggle in Oceanic regions, but this is good to publicize.
I'm in New Zealand and have no problems getting in to either servers.

Posting this before watching the video.
As someone who reinstalled about two weeks ago for the first time since beta and have been giving it a go... it's pretty mid. Operator/Loadout system still grinds my gears. Gameplay feels slow unless you get your FoV right and the way they did FoV feels stupid to me. Side note, friendly reminder to all that if you normally play with 110 FoV you need to set your in-game FoV to roughly 78. Don't just max it out. They did Vertical FoV for some reason and maxing it out makes it fucking impossible to see anything long distance.
The game has improved but thats a bit misleading to say since where its at now feels like where it should have been at launch. It's worth picking up if you find it on sale now. More players are coming back. There's more maps and weapons. Hoping DICE can add more new content to keep it interesting.

Ever since I’ve played mw2 there’s no going back to bf2042 or any future games in the series. It doesn’t come anywhere close to the detail and quality that activision has created.

I just picked it up on Black Friday sale and I’m hooked. It’s not perfect yet, but there’s definitely something good there. Gunplay is solid and the plus system is great. I actually don’t mind the more limited selection because it makes balancing easier. The new CoDs and even something older like BF4 had way too much stuff in them and most of it was just useless.
Problems: all rockets are too weak and infantry don’t carry enough ammo. You need three people with rockets to take out a single tank half the time. Less damage can be balanced by faster resupply times from the crate but that isn’t the case. This also makes the rocket less useful for use against structures because you keep saving them in case of a tank. Heli rockets are useless with how slow they fire. Tanks and C5 are the only way to reliably knock out enemy vehicles.
The specialists are still pretty lame. I’ve been playing some bot matches to grind guns and I can’t get over how much better the bot models look compared to the specialists, and they’re easily distinguishable from one another.
Jets handle like crap. Sidewinders fire too slow, lock too slow, and lock at comically short range. Controls are sluggish and it feels like you’re doing Tokyo Drift in the sky.
If air vehicles were mostly irrelevant I wouldn’t really shed any tears but the stealth choppers are just broken. The vertical bomb thing combined with the stealth to prevent locks makes them supremely annoying, but thankfully they don’t ruin the game
If you're having fun that is all that matters, but from watching videos it reminds me of Call of Duty. Running around without any strategy just shooting everyone, it's chaos. That's not the Battlefield I remember.
Speaking of picking it up cheap... what package do I need to buy on sale to get all the maps/guns (i.e. season content)?
I've downloaded it now as it is free on game pass. Having played it for a while I am glad I waited for it to be free. The game feels soulless. I don't feel absorbed into the map more as a peripheral player. The maps are colourful and in high resolution they are good looking. But I am not engaged with other players or involved with working together for the objective.. I have gone back to BF4 and BF1.
I just wish they would add more Portal maps for BC2 and BF3.
Also figure out how to allow those factions to use 2042 era guns, gadgets and vehicles and progress and unlock things for them.
That...or just make the heroes into actual classes like we have had in other titles. No, the upcoming class rework doesn't count...
In my opinion, it’s a playable game now and you can enjoy it, but it’s still not even close for what the asking price is

I’ll be honest, I still dislike the plus system. It sort of makes the whole process of picking and choosing attachments moot and sort of feels like a lazy “eh, do whatever you want”
I preferred the balance that came with being locked-in to your choice once you spawn.
Came back at the beginning of each season but left after a day both times. Was thinking season 3 would be it, but I think I have moved on. Took to long, lack of content, and Specialist make it hard to want to come back. It could be good, but all I see is a bad game. Maybe the next one will be better. Big maybe!

I waited a year to purchase this game, i don't regret it, its in a playable state now. They need to update the squad system. I play battle field for the large scale tactical squad play. you don't get that anywhere but battlefield. These are big steps but they must update squads next.

Re: mouse issues, yes. But there is promising stuff in the pipeline.
Where are the refugee camps? Flooded favelas? Map in the middle of a foresr fire?Bombed out cityscapes and town centers, downed bridges and collapsed sewers? Apartment buildings with multiple rooms with makeshift bridges across other buildings over flooded areas? Map design is still lacking in so much character or complexity of playable space.
No, I am not happy with where the game is. A year in we should have most of the original content from the Battlefield titles available in Portal, and at least the starting content of one additional game. Instead we only have a couple of new guns per game that must be unlocked in their, or worse other, portal game. I appreciate that DICE is willing to accept that they blew it with this game and commit the resources to making the 2042 maps better, but we should not have been in this position to begin with. Finally having a passable launch condition for the game over a year after being sold is unacceptable, ad after the bungling of BFV's end of life I do not trust that 2042 will receive the amount of content and reach the quality required to earn back my trust.
I want 128 player Breakthrough back. Chopper flares need to be nerfed. We need the BF5 squad system, including the ability to lock squads. We need normal map rotations with alternating attack/defend system for Breakthrough.
Been trying to play this again but the player visibility is just terrible. You can't see anyone unless you're constantly ADS-ing with a 3x scope which means you might as well just be playing on the lowest FOV setting, it's actually abysmal and they need to fix it ASAP.
I'm happy with the amount of content the game has right now, but my biggest concern from the beginning is aiming/aim assist with the controller, which is still bad after so many patches. They improved the moving target tracking but they broke something after the season 2 update. The aim assist pushes your aim away sometimes. Not to mention the huge input delay.

The jets and attack helicopters still feel god damn awful
no amount of tweaks or content can fix the fundamental problem which is it doesn’t feel or play like a battlefield game. it still feels like a failed attempt to steal land from other AAA titles when it needed solidify and strengthen its own foundations.
there’s enough market room for multiple fps shooters to co-exist, and when battlefield tries to compete is when it starts to crumple.
I recently got my PS5 a few days ago and got Battlefield for $10, can't complain

Gameplay is generally good, they just need to stop forcing crossplay, and to boost their anti-cheat. Too many dodgy players slipping through.
I say this is the best free 2 play battlefield game I've played. Got the game from my brother who left during season 2 and it's been a blast. Now that it's on game pass so I think its definitely worth it when u pay less than 20 dollars.

Started playing few days ago since it game to ea play. Only thing i hate is the crossplay with pc
Got it at launch and despised it, felt fully screwed by Dice/EA. It's certainly better now and I can enjoy it for a few hours a week but it just doesn't grab me in like previous titles. Will try again with the class changes but overall it just feels soulless.

Iv literally bought it for £16 just before Christmas and it wouldn’t work your version of windows needs updated and it’s fully updated as are all my drivers iv just got it Runing today so I’m gna have a good session for a couple days and il put my opinion on iv not played 5 min of it I was disappointed in bf5 and not played a battlefield game for probably 2 years I hate cod now it’s just gone to far so I’m hoping this is what people now say it is compared to what it was and hope the devs keep supporting it and listen to the player base

Hard-core servers where it's at if you want to feel like every step you take is calculated because you'll get shot and killed real fast.

Not giving it the time of day. I liked the portal 1942 a bit but last I looked that's gone now so screw it.
Season 3 makes the game worth playing. A pretty big improvement over the launch offering.
They still need to release more maps that rival the quality of the most recent map. The new map is easily the best in the game as it actually feels like a battlefield map.
Once the specialist system is reverted back to the class system, then it should be in a pretty good place.
Im happy im able to play for free right now thanks to ultimate game pass esp bf1 which i have about 400 hours on a basic ps4 before getting an x
Performance still needs to be heavily improved. Only certain people with high end systems got an fps boost after the update. The vast majority of pc players are still experiencing crap framerates and now tons of people, including myself, are saying that the game takes up 100% of the cpu, which ain’t good. I would seriously take better optimization over more content any day of the year. 2042 would be so fun for me if it actually ran well.
I got GTX1070 - around 50fps at launch during EA Play 10-hour trial. Now, after testing it in Game Pass and buying on discount, I'm getting around 70fps, so the performance boost is real. It's just way harder to optimize it for different PC configs.
@@bugbuster8598 True, different systems are affected differently. I just assume my combinations aren’t optimal. I never noticed a boost. I could never even imagine playing with just 70 fps though. I got a 3060 ti and get everything between 80-130 fps on low graphics in 64 players (I don’t even wanna talk about 128) although it usually stays around the low hundreds. BF1 could easily run on high with 100-144 fps, which just makes 2042 feel that much worse.
@@carlh0352 Maybe the new nvidia drivers are bad . Forza horizon 4 runs great until new driver update came which caused lag when looking into rocky terrain no matter locking fps nor unlocking them . And I can't downgrade the driver . Maybe you may downgrade the driver . The new driver also causes huge fps drop in warzone 2 I got 60 fps before the driver update and now I barely get 28 fps .
Maybe y’all should get ps5 since it doesn’t cause any problem whatsoever. No lag, no complain, smooth af, but you will feel the 60 fps or mouse input problem but on conso😂. Overall it’s amazing on console
@@assassin7250 as I said, I'm currently running it without a problem after the recent update. About consoles - yes, I do respect the current gen for how good it is for it's price, though I just can't stand playing anything with a controller. I know it's technically more intuitive than keybinds, but I'm M&K guy since I started gaming. And I'd miss my PC exclusives in Steam library like Squad or Arma😞

I have a Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1660, 16GB RAM and the game is literaly unplayable on low, do you think a better CPU would help?
Tbh, to me it looks like everything except RAM (if dual channel) would need an upgrade. I don't really think GTX16 series is worth it at all, maybe for sone lighter games. 3060 is a perfect choice I think.

I feel since the last two seasons worth of updates it makes the game feel so much better and I have a great time everytime I play no where else will you get the kind of moments that battlefield can give you and this is no different with 2042

As a 20 year BF only player. This is all your opinion. Some of which I agree and other opinions... I don't agree at all. So keep that in mind people. 1 man, 1 opinion. Keep watching and listening and make up your own mind. Also, this will never play like BF we are used too. So always come in with that in mind. Here's hoping the next game in BF Universe will be bring us back to the 'good old days' of BFBC2 or BF 4.

@@alexr.3319 fully packed air transport is still a flying fortress, Condor is exceptionally good with two different flight modes. Jets made a comeback only recently and their flight model is still bad.
@@bugbuster8598 Even though. It's still not enough, especially with Rao, stinger, and now a devastating rail gun which will get nerfed but it's even sadder that even the trailers show more than one air transport :(
I got 2042 for $10 at best buy I decided to try it out since it was so cheap.
Its definately have been better, and the spearhead map has been one of the best and if not the best in 2042. We need more maps like that.
At this point, i think the only thing that would bring me back is an official hardcore mode.
Still mad i wasted money on the big boi edition, missing seasonal content due to the game being unfinished, empty and boring.

This game would be 50x more enjoyable if it just had more weapons. Nobody wants to use the same weapon, especially a weapon that most of other players use at the same time.
