Same (but white) here. Just read a wonderful biography of Thomas Sowell called Maverick, if you haven't read it already.
The best book to read is God's Word, the Bible. I didn't read anything but New Testament books until I retired 2020. I read and listened from Genesis to Revelation and now I am convinced it is the best book ever! Reading the entire Bible gave me an entirely new understanding of God's plan for all of us. It's amazing to watch or read the news and read the Bible that prophesied the exact events that are taking place in current times. I highly recommend the Bible.
