I am 63 and live in NZ, this guy apart from my family is the only one person who makes me fell homesick, what a beautiful lyricist, love morrissey always.
Mike Luke ....I’m 57.. thankfully I’ve never really felt homesick - I moved to NZ from the UK in 97....always loved Morrissey and The Smiths. Only seen him once - and it was The Smiths last gig together at the Brixton Academy, London it was an anti apartheid benefit show (it’s on youtube ...grainy black and white) 👍
@@taurangasurf thank you for your lovely comment, I think the smiths were the most meaningful band I ever heard, we are lucky living hear now!! Love to you and all your family. " there is a light and it never goes out". Peace.
I was at this gig with my sister, she moved to Christchurch NZ, in 1989, she was only visiting back to Manchester, because our dad was terminally ill, unfortunately our dad passed away the day before she arrived from NZ, this gig was only 2 days after our dads funeral...It was such an emotional and bittersweet evening for us both, in our (and dads) hometown, watching another ex-pat Mancunian!
Flying from South Africa to Manchester for the weekend to see the man and his superb band was a dream come true. Morrissey, love your vibe. Manchester, love your vibe. Now my heart is full, in a good way
Travelled down from Middlesbrough stopped at Salford LadsClub which was fantastic done a little bit of boxing upstairs then to see the great man, what a night!! Goosebumps still haven't gone away
Good God I love Morrissey. I'm 44 years young. As an American kid in the mid 80's, The Smiths were big at my high school. I played in a Death Metal band at the time and would geek out on The Smiths and later Morrissey. I was multi-genre since I was six, but it was quite confusing to others. Mozheads were near exclusively Goth in style and here I was torn jeans with hair down to my waist, a leather jacket with denim vest and patches of Sodom, Celtic Frost, Kreator sewn on it. I would often zone out for hours with headphones on the road to calm down my horrible stage fright. Absolutely fearless performer, Morrissey. A man of the people, any people. Loves his audiences dearly, the songs hold up today and frankly embarrass modern pop music. I remember reading the lyrics when I was 16-17 ish and found much of it funny, but couldn't articulate why- at times even to myself. I'd borrow shapes from Johnny for instrumental intros or breaks. And despite my ability to play Randy Rhoads, Iron Maiden and Rush and even some Pat Metheny quite well through the early years , I never heard anything like Johnny and failed miserably for five minutes and accepted it as legend. Moz was on fire during the encore of Irish Blood English Heart. What a turn of events. Wow! For the record, I was glad Britain left the EU.
Same as that mate. Was a metal head ( still am ) but The Smiths crossed all musical divides. And this Morrissey fellow, he’s got balls of steel. Totally fearless. The new album I am not a Dog on a Chain is possibly his best. He’s as real as it gets.
57:36 and the crowd sings.....perfectly in key.......my endless, undying, and absolute love to every single resident of Manchester......I want to be there with you in your loss right now.....
I saw this set 3 days before in Berlin. So I got a little imagination how the feeling was in Manchester. It is his hometown and he rocks it. All the best for you, Moz!!!

I was there with my daughter. I never saw so many people crying at a gig before. If you could see the updated "Meat Is Murder" video played at the gig you'd understand. The video played after he walked off - man it was 10 times worse than last time. I'm 54 and have been fully vegan since that night.
I stopped eating meat in 1983 after seeing a film called, if i remember correctly, djurens film (the animals movie) on swedish television and about the same time i really got into the anarchopunk thing, Crass, Amebix, Rudimentary Peni who all had songs about animal rights, and of course, the band that really kicked my arse, Conflict, who released the "to a nation of animal lovers" ep. When The Smiths came around i wasn't a fan at all but i remember the meat is murder buzz and thought it was really great somebody in that scene spoke up, now years later as a 50 year old i love both, the punk thing and the smiths/morrissey equally.

The M for Manchester concert was much better but you can still feel his heart belongs to Manchester.
