This show was the best concert I’ve been to and this video captures the beauty of it well. Im not even a big dead head but its an out of body experience truly with the visuals
As an old dead head who saw her first Dead concert around 1975, this is so bittersweet. Seeing Bobby as an old guy, he was always the youngest most energetic of the bunch and then to see there are only 2 originals, Bobby & Micky. It just pulls at the heartstrings. Not that John Meyer isn't doing justice, he is and I give him kudos for keeping the dead alive and bringing the music to our newer generations. Oh gosh, I guess I just miss Jerry in a big way.
i saw them for the 1st time in 1968 kansas city kansas. i got drafted 3months later. this is so *ucking cool.but i really like jerry, jhon is good,BUTT. :)
D and C don’t just don’t cut it. Started listening to the Dead in 67. I’m glad you enjoy them to a degree but I just can’t listen to this. Other solo Dead members and group efforts are definitely better. In my mind D and C are nothing but a money grab and it’s disgusting. I’m happy playing the huge amount of music I have collected over the years listening to Jerry and the band cross bridges, space travel, jam, and take me to places that no other band has done or could go. The youthful experimentation, energy and exploration of a time gone by, that is why D and C to me just doesn’t cut it. Again I’m glad for you and the people that enjoy this, me, I’ll keep living in the past without any regrets.
Im 24, been listening to the Grateful Dead since age 15. Paying attention & listening to Dead & Co for the last 5 years. These last 5 years they have been my #1 most listened to band on apple music every single year due to their incredible live shows being uploaded. Every other year itll be Grateful Dead as #1 most listened. Im talking 14,000+ minutes listened to a year at the very minimum. I was unable to every, single, year to attend a Dead & Co show due to taking care of my grandmother (its just us) and this year when they announced their Sphere run, her condition worsened to the worst its been. i was hoping to arrange my sister from California come stay with grandma for just a couple days so i could go. Didnt happen. Anyone who got to go and is able to go to their August shows, please understand this is a monumental point in history in live music, especially for Grateful Dead music and you are beyond lucky. Beyond lucky.
I think Bobby was correct, you could not get the full experience via streaming you have to see this live. I have never been a Drums/Space guy but the Drums/Space segment was AWESOME last night with the seating bowl shaking and the sound traveling across the Sphere.

I drove 1400 miles for this show. Best concert I've ever been to in my life totally blew me away visually the bands performance was extraordinary as well.
Best concert of my life. The Sphere totally blew me away. Two days later and I’m still trying to process what I saw. The band was on point this night and the whole thing was an amazing unforgettable experience. Thanks for posting. There’s no way to convey the experience of the Sphere on video but this will help me remember it!
That July 4th show was the best concert I’ve seen. What a special night. High energy from everyone in the band, great tempo, sound was amazing, visuals were bananas (🍄), great vibes, and they delivered perfectly gelled heaters ALL NIGHT. Exceeded my expectations by miles. Thank you Bobby!! ❤💀🌹🪩⚡️
Thanks so much for posting this. I saw the July 11-13 shows. This is the best video I've seen of a full Sphere show, capturing the crowd, stage, and visuals. Absolutely first rate work. My first Dead show was in 1973. Haven't really followed Dead & Co., but I'm so glad I went to see them during this residency. Absolutely first rate production, beyond anything I could have imagined. Thanks for preserving and sharing it.
This is a great video of a fantastic show. Thank you Joe for doing such a professional job of capturing the sights and sounds for all of us to enjoy. You rock!
One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to, performance was incredible , sound was incredible the sphere was incredible… Thanks for the video man, Been looking for it since last night haha
Thank you for recording and sharing.... I have only seen snippets of July 4 and wanted to see the entire thing... I was able to be there the June 6, 7, 8 nights and it was just beautiful.... and have been watching as much as possible since then. ☮🎸🎹💜
This gave me chills watching it. I was sitting in the 300 section that nite with my wife. We just kept smiling throughout the show--such an amazing experience. Thanks for uploading it!
Had one of the best concert experiences of my life at this show. Im so incredibly grateful to have these musicians giving their heart and soul to the music. So much love its hard to describe
Went to this weekend of shows. Stumbled across this. Thank you so much. Looks like you were in the 200 level like me and the wife. Best concert experience with or without a headful! 😎
There is something cathartic about these shows. The ultimate Dead experience with sound and visuals. What a way to round out 50 years on the road. Wish I could make it. A bit difficult from Europe😢
my lil bro and his gf got to go see this - i'm just now watching for the first time and i'm blown away already 2nd song lol). wow the sphere grafix visual experience sure takes a "dead show" to a whole new level - AMAZING 🙏🏻❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Happy 4th!!! God Bless USA 🙏🏻❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I saw Dead & Co the first week in June at the Sphere and it was amazing. The sound was better than the Wall of Sound from 74. That is saying something. The visuals were like the sound. OH, the band was excellent too! The jamming was first rate. Overall I would go again but I would stay at a cheap fleabag hotel.
Wall of Sound was pretty good. I was at the convention center show in Philadelphia. You realize they spend over $2 billion to build the Sphere and the technology to create a sound system didn't exist in 1974. There is nothing that rivals the sound system at the Sphere anywhere in the world. It was designed and built from the ground up to create perfection.
So glad they kept the screens to be mostly about the live performance. That makes me super happy. I was worried it would just be a trippy thing. I would definitely see them play here in the future if I given the opportunity simply because of that.
Seen and been into the dead since 73, 1st show buffalo aud.. still listen on a daily basis, still missing Jerry and wish I could see a show at sphere it looks awesome
Seeing them open with cold rain and snow a few weeks back at the show I saw was amazing. Spent way to much money to make the one show I saw and I'd do it all again!
40 years to the day after seeing the Dead at Cedar Rapids Iowa in one of the last years of manageable sized crowds and a financial outlay required that was of reach to a much higher percentage of people. I will say that 7/4/84 was near certainly my favorite 4th ever.

Back in May I asked my Daughter whom I did not have the pleasure of raising if I could buy her a ticket and she experience a Dead show for the first time with me, my treat. Tickets were bought for this show (july 4) and she said she was not going because of not feeling well on the night before the event. She went without me. She goes to the river without me. She goes to Glamis without me. She has Christmas and Father’s Day without me. I have no love without her.
She 36, the tickets were bought through her man, he held them leaving me with no ticket and no ride from LA to Vegas…..I see tickets for sale and think….can’t give up on family/love
Ok I will preface I have not gone to the Sphere and I am 100% sure the visuals are amazing yet at what point do the visuals take over from the music. The Grateful Dead was always about the music first. Though I guess why this is called Dead and Company I hope at some point they release hi quality audio from some of the shows 😊
The venue's sound quality is actually more stunning and immersive at the end of the day imho. I taped hundreds of GD shows back in the day and know the audio quality of so many venues I can pretty much tell where a recording came from just by the tape. The visuals were incredible, and remember... the Dead came out of the acid tests so having a trippy light show is in their DNA, so it is nice that Dead & Co is able to be on that frontier to keep that torch burning too. However, in terms of the audio there, and what they can do musically with such great clarity, is stunning. Have to agree, hope they release audio of it too because I think they are really playing at a high level night to night right now.
Thanks you! I’m 70 and followed Dead over 30years. Cannot buy tickets anymore and can’t go to concerts. I wanted so much to see the Dead Sphere! Thank you! Saturday Morning Jam! Love you!
