I don't need a rubber mallet to pull my shift knob off. It comes off when I hit 2nd to hard

i was wondering how to do that!!!!! Now to figure out how to properly make a short shifter.

mine would not come off at first no matter how hard i pulled or hit it. and i did not care about the oem knob that much so i began to cut the bottom off the knob off a bit. and there are 2 pins that hold it on, i assume if ur pins are bents or broken the knob should come off easily. my pins weren’t broken so i slid them out of the way and with one little pull it came off like nothing!

man ive tried many times im still having a really hard time getting my knob off i made a cool gear shift knob in wood workin class and i need to drill a hole in the bottom of it but i cant get my knob off so i am not sure how big i need to drill the hole

Hey Richpin, I'm looking at getting a different Aftermarket shift knob and putting it on my 99' SL2. Is that even possible with how the shift rod is shaped? Recommend any certain aftermarket knobs for it?

@@carll.freemanjr.9867it just took me 30 minutes and an almost broken finger this was probably easier 12 years ago but i have an 02 with a shift knob that’s probably never been removed so i’m sure it was really on there 😂

Don't turn on the car, then there is no power going to the transmission.

Ok, I didnt have to use a hammer.... It was all bicep, it wasnt hard. Hammer really wasnt necessary.
