It’s not about winning or losing, it’s about the work and if we had fun and having a good time We’ve found new friends and made enemies in this band We’ve also learned throughout the process of practice Best of luck to our seniors, you will all be missed, especially to our two senior drum majors May the power of Fontainebleau be with you
Even as an alumni of this program, I'm constantly blown away by the quality of these shows. Way to beat Fontainebleau. I know you had to work your butts off for this - that is some CRAZY music and drill. So freaking proud of y'all. ❤️
I saw your comment Myles I played the things that sound like tin cans in the beginning and broke this was one of the better run throughs the drumline had.
we won fifth....we're still confused but still happy, we got farther than a lot of schools, if only they could stop giving Lafayette the win year after year after year
Here's a better question - are you saying that because Lafayette has been Grand Champion at Showcase for many years now, that they don't deserve to win?
Benjamin Brown they actually dont have that large of a budget. They have an insane amount of parents who are willing to help to out! Its amazing honestly.
Idk Tbh their band fee is like $1000 dollars. And yeah I know, the power of band moms is powerful. I just Jealous that I can’t have brand new jazzy as hell uniforms every year
Benjamin, the fees are about half that, with a good bit of fundraising. We get very limited money from the school district, so everything is done in house. All the uniforms are hand made, and we repurpose things from previous years. We've used the same handmade jackets in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016, just edited. The props are reused as well (the white platforms and baby grand were used in 2015). We save and salvage everything we can. This program would be nowhere near as great without the time and energy of the parents. It really is its own community and family.

Good job and nice pre-show. That trombone solo in the pre show was crisp. What were the final scores?

I don't believe they "give" anyone the win. Whomever wins probably deserved it.
Here's a good question- when was the last time Lafayette has NOT won first in showcase?
