    With the hydrogenated oils, irradiated fruits and vegetables, and grains desecrated with glyphosate, our food supply is destroying our biome and causing a health crisis unprecedented in the history of humanity. All of us are going to face a health crisis if we don't take charge of producing our own food.

    The woman in your video who shows her pantry seems to be doing storage wrong. She has jars double stacked and has not removed the rings. I thought these were not a good way to store.

    • @MelissaKNorris
      @MelissaKNorris  3 года назад +2

      Double stacking is fine, both Ball and the Nation Center of Home Food Preservation state its okay. Rings can be stored if you remove, wash and fully dry before putting back on. I don't store with mine on but our tested sources say it's safe but many choose not too

    Our 10-yr old son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a year ago. Before then we were eating store bought pasta, processed foods, breads and other garbage. We found an online community of other type 1's and a medical dr who eat low carb/ high protein. Our son lives on meats and low carb veggies and the thought of our government phasing out red meat consumption by 90% before 2030 is frightening. We just moved out of suburbia OU to a 1918 farmhouse on 10 acres in hopes of growing our own food. I work full time at the moment as a retail pharmacist and spend more time searching than actually doing.
    That being said. How do I join? I didn't see a link.

      Way more info in the Academy. Each video has a full written guide, charts, worksheets etc. Plus monthly seasonal harvest and recipe guides, live monthly videos, and new courses. There's a full seed saving course, outdoor cooking, fermenting has a vegetables, dairy, sourdough and kombucha series (meaning not just one video on each of these but a full series) with equipment lists, recipes, troubleshooting and more just to name a few.

    My husband and I are living full time in a fifth wheel until he retires and we can move to our ten acres in Idaho. Is it worth it to start this now with my limited space, or should I wait?

    • @stedvet
      @stedvet 3 года назад +4

      My family of 4 live fulltime in a bumper pull trailer on our 8.5 acre homestead and we’re making it work with an additional 40 foot shipping container and a small shed. We climatized the shipping container (insulation, air conditioning, etc) and this is an “extension” of our living space and storage. We’re holding out on building in this ridiculous housing market/building supply madness. If you do wait to move to your property, consider planting any fruit and nut trees on the property now. These can take some years to get established and bearing decent fruit.

    If I’m in zone 8b will this academy be helpful to learn gardening?

    • @MelissaKNorris
      @MelissaKNorris  3 года назад +1

      Yes! We have members from all over the world and the gardening course teaches by frost dates so you know when to do things by your frost dates, the zone is used for the orchard, berry and perennial planting. The gardening monthly live videos are also broken up by climate so you know what to do in your area each month 😊

      I am currently living in a suburban area on a tiny lot(1/4 acre). We are trying to get a piece of land for ourselves. We've always had a garden wherever we've lived, but now we are forced to container gardening; this year's produce for my husband and myself:
      Cabbage, green pepper, jalapeño pepper, green onions, sweet peas, spaghetti squash, white onions, yellow onions, red onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, rhubarb, strawberries, dill, okra, chives, Brussels sprouts, Carolina reaper pepper, potatoes, green beans, cilantro. You can do this!

    This feels like an infomercial. "Time is running out", "the door's closing" ... to what exactly? What is the purpose of the time limit and rush to sign up, other than it being a textbook marketing trick? You post very good content here on YT and this group seems like it could be a positive experience for many, but the implied urgency without explanation seems disingenuous.

    • @MelissaKNorris

      We have members only live challenges that start on specific dates so we have specific period when people can join so it doesn't disrupt the group or have them coming in missing half of it. It's not disingenuous or a trick.
