It took me about a year to pull the trigger on my tank. The most difficult part was deciding if I wanted to use tissue sample plants or community tank plants from my LFS.
Good luck with your tank! I set one up myself few months back. Lots of mistakes and lessons learned, even tho I followed Walstad's book closely and watching Foo's videos over and over again. Now I'm obsessed with this hobby and going to setup a second tank!

Your tank doesn’t have to be full NO CO2, NO Filter, NO ferts tank, but a similar setup would also do.

I had a betta. He was a dark purple and blue Veiltail named Kage (meaning shadow) but eventually being named Ninja. He was such a character. He had a 5 gal tank all to himself. He would always great me when I came home from work. Would swim back and forth flaring his tail in a "I'm sexy and I know it" fashion. He LOVED pictures. And would watch me when I cleaned his tank ( transfered him to a small bowl--no nets as he swam willingly into it). Sadly he didn't make it when I came back from a 4 week vacation. My friend who was caring for him didn't clean his tank like I wrote instructions for so it spiraled out of control. I miss him. He was my best friend.
I’m so sorry, the same thing happened to me but I only left for 2 weeks.
My deepest condolences. I remember losing my Betta I named quack after my divorce in 2015. This guy was such a stud... he was a good friend & when he passed I drove him to the beach to release his body... I was so sad 😞 then.... time healed me. I know have a 14 G tank with plants, ghost shrimp, red shrimp, 5 tetra, guppies & guppy babies. This tank is amazing 😉

I first started watching these videos when I was struggling hardcore with sleep when the pandemic was first starting. I couldn't lay down and rest without panicking about it. Then one of your videos came into my reccomended and I was finally able to rest after TWO DAYS of starting at the ceiling in panic. Watching the fish and shrimp scoot around the tank, doing their thing and picking up on everyone's personality is so relaxing. Thank you for making videos 💙💙

my first tank was heavily inspired by you, then i read walstad's book, and eventually went extremely off the deep end in terms of planted tanks. my tanks are mainly running sponge filters now, but they're all capped by something along with organic potting soil underneath. i won't submit a video or picture because it's not a classic 'foo the flowerhorn' or a walstad tank anymore as i have also begun trying many other things which included a heater, dosing, co2 injection, etc.
the fact remains that ill always be a fan ever since the first few videos i saw, and i will watch any and everything put out by you. i think now, at least for me, ive transcended to the point where i think so much about aquatic plants, fish, shirmp, that it doesnt matter what kind of tank it is, but that i enjoy the many, many tanks i have. my level of husbandry that increases by the day and to create not only an aesthetically pleasing home to my eyes, but a home for these animals and plants. i am learning more and more every day about biology in general and the inspiration and impetus was your videos.

You inspired me to get back into the hobby after my 75 gal disaster. (Sump failed and water went everywhere) it wont be a no filter no co2 no fert tank but it will be a 5 gal planted shrimp and fish tank. Love your vids keep up the good work!!!!!!

I’ll have to dig up some pictures of my 10 gallon tank, I had a betta before finding your channel but your videos inspired me to go above and beyond for my little Cinderella. Unfortunately this past winter I got really busy with college and didn’t realize that the heater in her tank had stopped working until it was too late... I miss my blue princess..

I just set up a tank 4.9 gal, it's 2 weeks old right now, the plants are growing well so far with (mayaca, cabomba, vallisneria, rotala, bacopa) for sure the tank is my very first tank, inspired by you :D im struggling with the temperature right now in my room is almost 35°C (95°F) if not using air con huhu
