  • This is a quick example of how to light a green screen. Getting good even light is really important for filmmakers hoping to remove a background in post.
    Have you ever used a green screen? What did you find difficult?

    Excellent coverage! Green screening has long been the bane of my existence, especially when the subject has hair going everywhere!
    If you're using After Effects to key I would recommend using 'Selective color' first to boost the greens (maybe even do that twice) and then key the result, I've found that works particularly well if if you don't have good or consistent lighting on your green screen, or if you have a creases in your green screen that cause subtle shadows.

    Yes, it's very helpful. My question is about the intensity of the light on the subject. Should one of the light sources be less than the other so as to create a soft shadow to prevent the subject from being too flat.

    Pls can you do a video on how to edit green screen pertaining to shot sizes. For example, A close up shot shouldnt have the same items in the background as a wide shot... How do you achieve that in Premierre pro cc

      Thanks Remedy. I think I understand. But can you elaborate more?

      Thanks,.. Lets take the news background you used in this video. When you take a close up shot on the same background, you should get less of it, ie: a cropped or zoomed part of the whole background.
      My question is how do you achieve that since you the same background is put under all the shot sizes. I hope am much clearer now

    How do you handle green casts from the background onto the subject in confined spaces? Do you ever use a light meter to ensure lighting consistency across the background?

    • @simeonquarrie
      @simeonquarrie  7 лет назад +1

      Hi David, I don't use a light meter because the scenes I shoot aren't so big. The light hitting the subject needs to overpower the green spill. Back light helps with spill, though backlight sometimes takes space.
