could be wrong but my sense is to play this more like a bunker shot. take some turf. get it in the air. no point in taking the risk of it getting stuck going up the hill or coming out hot adter it gets up there and going flying over the green. even if getting it high in the air with a 56 is too risky feeling at least play it with a high lofted club and punch it to get it in the air somehow. anything to get it over that top ridge somewhat softly.
The problem is this shot is dead into the grain on Bermuda. This makes it very easy to chunk a high lofted club. The PW or even a 9 iron is the best choice for most amateurs in this scenario.
@@TheErockaustin That's why I think play it more like an uphill bunker. Play the chunk. I'd be too scared of it coming bcak down the hill or rocketing it over. Very tough to gauge speed. Next up I might putt it lol The Mercer shot at 1:30 seems to make some sense.
@@jgallagher1359 Honestly, playing on grainy bermuda every day, my experience is that the low runner into the hill has much less chance of coming back down the hill.
@@TheErockaustin Got it. Will try it out next time I'm on the stuff. Am pretty 1 dimensional with my short game and just like to play teh ball hi so that could be part of my reasoning.
@@jgallagher1359 I'm the same, usually would prefer the higher chip. But the bermuda around here is really, really grainy. Lofted chips tend to get chunked a LOT if you find a grainy spot. I actually use my 4-hybrid sometimes for this shot. Almost like I'm putting it, but it skips and skids on the first bounce then starts rolling.
This is the 'art of golf.' So cool! Thanks.

Very cool stuff👍
never thought cut spin would help going into the grain....the pros know all the secrets,
What a great weapon to have in the arsenal - cut chip shot pitching wedge into the grain
