    No KO but excessive prescise body shots, great KD, this was a real manly fight and an unexpected ending with the crowd rising to their feet in unison was cool I’ll admit.
    I won’t say Ferguson made Tyson look great, Tyson did that by himself but at least ferg hung in long enough so people got their money’s worth and he tried to fight back at times and most of all he took amazing body shots which excited the crowd by mikes deliverance of them.
    If he’d have gone down from the first body shot the crowd would not be the same and I also believe this was Tyson’s first fully nationally televised fight and the crowd was bigger than his early day fights no doubt.
    Respect to both and love to Tyson as a young fighter and as the older man he evolved into that we see today. He’s a real sweet guy I mean I’d love to shoot the shit with him.
    After all as long as mikes not swinging at ya, he’s not a threat and in his later years has toned down the aggressive behaviour so people can get to know the sweet side of him
    In things like podcasts, etc.

    I just don't know if there ever was or if there ever will be another fighter like Tyson. I was in middle school during his prime years, and he was just awe-inspiring. To me, watching him is like looking at a corpse - I'm fearful, reverent, beside myself. I would rather fight both Klitschko brothers simultaneously with one arm tied behind my back than face a prime Tyson in the ring. Of course, that might sound absurd to many people...but I'm just telling you the way it is for me...

    Though Tyson dominates every round, you can see the seeds of the troubles he would later have against big, accurate punchers. He gets hit too much at range and doesn't react well to being tied up. When the other fighter is busy on the outside, Tyson forgets to use foot movement and stands there waiting to get hit. All the things that would later cause him to lose the title and derail his comeback tries.

    Jesse said the referee told him to protect himself at all times. That is what he did.. Which ended the fight.

    He seemed to have a tenacity that he dwindled down as the years went on.This was an explosive combination fighter but when he won the title and after,he seemed to slow down that tenacity.Its this fighter in 85-86 that might have been at his best.

      Even here typical Tyson shows the speed and power that made him so indestructible 'only 19 'he looks more like a boxer of 32 years 'all that natural talent in someone so young 'and just look at his body 'for a 19 year old the muscle s hell I haven't got them muscles and I'm 45 'just a natural brilliant Tyson

    that fight was nothing special, the larry holmes fight owns that. tyson hits him with like 50 good shots in this round, breaks his nose and i believe his jaw

    With all due respect to Ferguson he was ok but VERY VERY far from a great example of a fighter, retireing with a record of only 26 wins over a two decade career. Thats a mile away from real contender stuff. His highlight was beating an out of shape Mercer (who got a boxing lesson from Tommy Morrison before he gassed in R5). Tysons giggest problem to his legacy was his era. Not something he can control sadly.

  • @fadethetrade
    @fadethetrade 15 лет назад

    But tyson here punched differently then the post rooney era.He fought a few bums after 1989 and his wins didn't look complete as he looked from 86-88.Tyson became a head hunter in 1989 and gave the edge over to the other guys but not from 86-88.Dundee felt so strong that thomas could beat tyson,he trained thomas and coached him but tyson demonstrated a ko of thomas not seen since Joe louis ko's.tyson punched more accurately,faster and instinctively fire combinations.After 88 he stoppd that.

    @elmoskater yeah, I'm familiar with the argument. it's wrong. Tyson was 23 years old when he lost to Buster Douglas. You can't get any more "prime" than that. You can always make excuses for a fighter after the fact, but the reality is Mike was never as good as we thought he was.
