I agree. A lot of people just think nothing will happen to them or that they can always talk their way out of it or out run danger. It must be great to be so lucky, clever, and fast lol
Yes, you can oil the pivot screw (any oil will work) and try loosening it a little. Some people take apart the knife and sand down and polish all the parts around the pivot area. I've never owned a Rajah 3 so those are all the steps I can think of offhand, but those should help.
That is the best knife design, by my personal hero and youtube mentor Michael Janich. I just bought the spyderco Pygmy Warrior, and it is the literal 'bomb diddley!!!! Hope you never have to use yer slice or pistol for anything other then practice man.
Emerson Karambits are sold at Knifeworks, Knifecenter, BladeHQ, and Knifeart however, often they are sold out, since they're released only in limited runs, a few times a year.
I think the 2nd lock is just for a tiny bit of reassurance, but yeah, I mean Emerson and Al Mar don't bother with secondary locks on their folders and I've never heard of them needing one.
That is pretty much a good strategy, relentless combinations and forward momentum. Other strategies such as counter punching are really hard to teach to beginners.
WeAllJuggleKnives hey dude im rly lookign for a folding knife with hand protection or something 2 safe my finger while using it i have the feelings these slim knife push back into my hand and cut me first bevor is can stab someone^^
frosty3552 I think the Cold Steel Recon 1 series is probably the best overall design combining excellent finger choils, utilitarian blade designs, cost effectiveness which won't make you afraid to use the knife, and a crazy strong lock setup. This is going to be my next purchase. I think I will pick one up in the clip point setup. The mounting point for the clip looks like it sits in the beveled edge of the G10 scales but that's only a cosmetic gripe.
The 5 inch Timber Wolf Dagger is the same as Smith & Wesson's HRT 5 inch dagger. Nothing wrong with it for the price, it is thick enough, not flimsy like other cheap dagger. Not sure about those other 2 blades, I'll have to look them up.
I like my Hisshou a lot, it is a good blade. I also have a Hanwei Tactical Katana, I think they are around $150-170, but very nice sword for less than $200.
Yeah that's true, a surprise attack by a total stranger with no warning signs would be the hardest thing to defend against, luckily that it pretty rare.
Lol thanks. Well I am Filipino and I do Filipino martial arts, that is not my career, however it is why I have an interest in such knives and I train with them and with machetes.
Well, the Emerson Karambit was designed by Ernest Emerson and the Hissatsu Folder by James Williams - both have quite the list of credentials as well as video demonstrations, so writing them off unless you know what they teach seems rash.
The korambit style of blade is probably my favorite, they are great for opening packages or utility chores, particularly hard touch plastics that case more rounded tips to slide off of them, and defensively they the tips tend to sink in, and even if you don't complete the pulling motion to cut if the attacker pulls bag their arm of hand after being grabbed by the tip tends to act like a zipper and make pretty nasty cuts
Also notice the Crkt Hissatsu mine is a little more beat up using it is a main stay for a edc and defense folder. Its taking the abuse nicely even if it was not totally designed for edc chores it still can do them. And every day carrying it keeps it with me. Because what good is a tactical knife going to do me if I don't have it on me when I need it. So I forced myself to edc it as my main knife just for that instant I pray that never happens that it will be there when I need it
Assisted and flippers are key. Deployment speed is life or death when your that close. Speaking from experience I had a three inch Kershaw assisted save my life
Byrd Hawkbill 2... $20, strong, sharp and FRN gives a good grip. If you have a large hand file down the FRN choil and you are all set. The Hawkbill 2 is full spyder edge and shaving sharp! It is under 3 inches and cuts like a 4-5 inch straight blade.
I think fast deployment is a little overblown. Situations tend to escalate, so most of the time you won't have to do a spontaneous "quick draw." In the rare event that you don't see things heading badly, you'd often not have time to draw any weapon at all. So yeah I wouldn't factor deployment time in TOO heavily over other factors, both those knives would work :]
This video is very practical and useful for anyone who takes safety, readiness and preparedness seriously. Think about how often someone is assaulted. What makes you so special that you shouldnt be one of those assault victims?? Just like people have water, gas, food and ammo stored up for emergency use, so should we be trained, and practice for these unexpected but highly possible scenarios. Most of the time officers are shot, it's with their own duty weapon. I carry a blade on my weak side fo
seriously awesome collection. I love the hawkbill type blades and you've got some great ones. You should consider getting the Cold Steel Black Talon just to round it out lol.
Hi Israel I can carry my Busse Anneversary Mean Street LE just as easy as I can carry my Cold Steel vintage Talwar or Black Sable, and I can carry my Swamp Rat Rodent Solution too, but my vintage Al-Mar's are nice to conceal carry them because their more compact and slender.
Great video man. Love a straight up vid that recognizes the tactical side of knife use. Awesome descriptions and variety. +sub'd I've been carrying an 810 Contego and it has been hands down my fav tactical folder. Extremely solid and well built. High price tag but worth every penny.
i have question about the Gerber Combat Folder shown in this vid...when yours is open and locked up , is your blade tip lined up with the center axis of the handle...or does the blade rotate and lock up PAST what would be the center line down the length of the handle???.....mine is past center which bugs me a little ...i didn't notice it until i had the knife over a year but,...i was wondering if it's on purpose for cutting mechanics or a manufacture issue.............the Gerber Applegate/Fairbairn line is a real favorite of mine ..i have the large Combat Folder, the smaller 3 3/4 in blade folder Covert (which had OK build quality but i kept it), and the Auto Covert....thanks and keep up the good work
Also Starting a krav maga and karate and kick boxing mixed martial arts training from white tiger premier martial arts studio in aurora colorado. I love the physical fitness part and the training seems to make sense to me enough that I can reasonable be certain I can defend myself. Pretty much the one thing I'm getting from my teachers is whatever chance you get to take it and go all out from the start and hit whatever you can
I like the looks of both of the knives the Hissatsu fixed and the Shinbu and the hisshou but the last two are really expensive knives for crkt. And I know what 440a is and what to expect for it a decent overall steel, I really have no clue what this yk-30 steel that is in the shinbu or hisshou is.. Eventually I would love to collect everyone of the crkt hissatsu family. I honestly think I will have to get the Hissatsu fixed before the Shinbu or hisshou.
If a person has no training whatsoever with blades, but still wants to carry a blade for defensive purposes what would be better between a small or mid-size fixed blade, push dagger and a folding knife?
Unfortunately, where I live (Virginia), we don't really have any folder restrictions to speak of, and you can get your concealed carry permit pretty easily, but "bowie knives" and "daggers" are forbidden, i.e. fixed blades, unless you want to argue the definition of a bowie knife/dagger in court. You would probably be alright with a single edged knife without a guard, but nonetheless, I don't have money to burn on an attorney so I carry a folder. Collapsible batons are illegal also--you can
I already have 2 tactical folders,a jet black switch blade stilleto spear point thats 4 inches long with a pocket clip and and a 4 inch single edged drop point gravity knife razor sharp and with a cherry grip. Both blades are slinder about 1 inch in width. One is desighned for stabbing the other for slashing,I've never used them and hope I never have to. How was the movie? And your'e knives are very nice, any knife owner would be proud to have them.
So if looking for a tactical/self defense blade, you should look for a fixed blade and if that doesn't work find a decent folder like these explained in the video?
I remember reading a article somewhere Sensei Israeli that training is all good and way but does always dictate that better trained individual will win. It gives you a leg up and something that you can wield over a enemy but it is no certain that a highly trained knife fighter could beat a prison yard shank attack from a thug. Even highly knife fighters in sparring situations lost against this brutal overwhelming attack from the prison
Thanks! Yeah, there are some dangerous parts of the world, places where people will be more afraid of getting killed than of getting searched! Parts of Scotland, parts of Sweden, parts of Detroit lol. My friend in Sweden had to defend himself with some weapons, yes he got in trouble but the police also understood (they knew the gangs around there) and so he was released quickly.
Lol. Now that you mention it, I have some subscribers who live in South Bronx NYC, Malmo Sweden, and some town in Scotland that is the physical assault "capital" of Europe. They have told me some stories and I would definitely move if I was them!
at the beginning of the vid when you say you need to strongly consider..i thought you were going to say "move". that wouldve been hilarious. you need to strongly consider moving. i see some of my favorite knives in this lineup. goodstuff
I know they offer the Japanese sword and knowing you have a lot of experience in the area. Beside the wooden training sword I will need when my 6 months of basic training is up. I really got to find a actually working sword I know the kinda of katana I would love a blade shape of the hissatsu. I might even get the bigger models of the Crkt hissatsu the fixed and the hisshou i think its called. What do you think of those blades or are they cheaper and better quality ones that I can get now
Thanks. The blades on the Para and Military are at a forward angle to the handles, which makes them better slicers/slashers, but it also puts a lot more stress on the locks during a thrust. Basically, I feel the Manix2 XL is less likely to close on the user.
Oh there are some big guys out there, lots of fat and muscle over the organs, also could be wearing several layers of clothing. As a general rule, you want to have the longest blade you are able to legally have and able to conceal/carry without huge inconvenience. For folding knives, the standard "tactical" length is around for inches (Spyderco Military, Recon 1 Folder, Benchmade 710). So I'd say 4 inch blade length is the minimum a lot of tac guys would go.
I agree. A lot of people just think nothing will happen to them or that they can always talk their way out of it or out run danger. It must be great to be so lucky, clever, and fast lol

My Yojimbo 2 with an aftermarket deep carry clip is my favorite firearm backup by far
That is the best knife design, by my personal hero and youtube mentor Michael Janich.
I just bought the spyderco Pygmy Warrior, and it is the literal 'bomb diddley!!!!
Hope you never have to use yer slice or pistol for anything other then practice man.
Thanks, bro! Yeah the Spartan and Rajah 2 would definitely be in here if i added superior chopping power folders too
Emerson Karambits are sold at Knifeworks, Knifecenter, BladeHQ, and Knifeart however, often they are sold out, since they're released only in limited runs, a few times a year.

Welcome, I am glad it has helped.
This the best video intro I have ever heard. I really enjoy your videos and reviews. Thanks!
Thanks, Dave!

Serrations are good for ripping, tearing, and sawing, so it kind of depends if those fit into your training plan.
It's hard to say, without knowing the brand or which steel it's made from. But in general, hawkbills are very efficient slashers and slitters.
Beautiful collection of tactical folders. Great explanation of their capabilities.
Please keep up the great videos.
Thanks

I just picked up a Cold Steel XL Voyager Tonto folding blade ...... love it !
Thanks, Dizzle! Glad you find them useful!
Yeah a lot of places almost force people into folders because they ban fixed blades and batons, even the non-metal batons.
Yeah that's true, a surprise attack by a total stranger with no warning signs would be the hardest thing to defend against, luckily that it pretty rare.
That's true, I should have included my Blackhawk Be-Wharned in the forward tip knives, it would be a good option too.
Lol thanks. Well I am Filipino and I do Filipino martial arts, that is not my career, however it is why I have an interest in such knives and I train with them and with machetes.
this was one long and good video man, thanks for showing so many nice blades
Cold Steel for cheaper ones, Emerson or Microtech if you want to go high dollar.
Well, the Emerson Karambit was designed by Ernest Emerson and the Hissatsu Folder by James Williams - both have quite the list of credentials as well as video demonstrations, so writing them off unless you know what they teach seems rash.
Be glad you didn't refer to the CRKT as a virtual fixed blade.
Thanks, will do!
I prefer a medium fixed blade if you're allowed to carry those in your area.
Spyderco or Cold Steel's serrations are good ...
ColdSteel XL Espada, a folder that delivers maximum damage asap in a combat situation!
Assisted and flippers are key. Deployment speed is life or death when your that close. Speaking from experience I had a three inch Kershaw assisted save my life
I meant it to look like the "hazard tape" they mark off dangerous areas with.
The Microtech goes for $270. Lol well the CS handle has to fit the blade, but it can useful when closed too as an impact stick.
The 551 is shorter, the Benchmade 710 would be a better substitute, I know it is expensive but still way less expensive than the Microtech.
I think fast deployment is a little overblown. Situations tend to escalate, so most of the time you won't have to do a spontaneous "quick draw." It would, I just couldn't fit all my other tactical folders on the table lol.
Thanks for the fast response! I will check these out :)
That's a good one, I don't think they make the 2X sizes anymore :[
I believe that for the money and ease of deployment one of the best blades for backup is the spyderco resilience or the tenacious.
00:01 - 00:36
Sounds like the making of a great action film!
words of wisdom
multi items on one reviwe make it really good for understanding and comparison
ty Israel
Thanks, Scorpion.
Yes
seriously awesome collection. I love the hawkbill type blades and you've got some great ones. You should consider getting the Cold Steel Black Talon just to round it out lol.
Nice!
I lol'd for real when you talked to the crows!
Right on, Herb
Hi Israel I can carry my Busse Anneversary Mean Street LE just as easy as I can carry my Cold Steel vintage Talwar or Black Sable, and I can carry my Swamp Rat Rodent Solution too, but my vintage Al-Mar's are nice to conceal carry them because their more compact and slender.
It's like that viggo scene from Eastern Promises!
Finally a firearms subject from WeAlljuggleKnives! Are you going to expand into gun collecting soon?
Great video, and best "pointer" on you tube! thanks.
I'm surprised you didn't include the zt 0200. I feel like that would do quite well as a firearm back-up/tactical.
Man, that was brutal. Classic man.
Pretty good stuff. Been a while since I've ever considered a folder option though.
I was just kidding, I didn't really hurt the crows. (But if dirty rats had wings, they'd be crows lol).
Excellent, thanks.
Hey, thanks!
great vid! i love the large sized blades..if i could i would edc one those huge cold steel knives.
I have been EDCing my knives and I would like you to do a video on different ways of caring knives, also cool was of hiding them.
Gentle knives of peace and love. lol.
Thanks MAXX
Great video man. Love a straight up vid that recognizes the tactical side of knife use. Awesome descriptions and variety. +sub'd
I've been carrying an 810 Contego and it has been hands down my fav tactical folder. Extremely solid and well built. High price tag but worth every penny.
If you're not able to carry a fixed blade then folder is next best thing.

If I had to choose one it would be a toss up between the Cold Steel G10 Espada Medium or Spyderco Civilian
Also Starting a krav maga and karate and kick boxing mixed martial arts training from white tiger premier martial arts studio in aurora colorado. I love the physical fitness part and the training seems to make sense to me enough that I can reasonable be certain I can defend myself. Pretty much the one thing I'm getting from my teachers is whatever chance you get to take it and go all out from the start and hit whatever you can
best vid ever
That must be the reason because Spyderco has an Emerson waved version of the Delica, wich I have always looked as too short for self defense
My first 2 Benchmades... the 710 and the 551 :)
Thanks, bro!
Thanks, Squirrel!

not "allowed" being the specific thing to recognize, you ALWAYS have a natural right to defend yourself
If a person has no training whatsoever with blades, but still wants to carry a blade for defensive purposes what would be better between a small or mid-size fixed blade, push dagger and a folding knife?

When he pulled out that pointer I subbed
I got my Spyderco Civilian for like $135 from Poorfish Outdoors and a Cold Steel Black Talon for $220 from a local store.
That's what we like lol, thanks!
Great review, very sweet folders. Thanks!!
So if looking for a tactical/self defense blade, you should look for a fixed blade and if that doesn't work find a decent folder like these explained in the video?

ok thanks so much for your advice u is a real knife expert have a blessed day im going to get soon as i can

Bradley Alias I is pretty good, for around $200!
are YOU a undercover agent for DEA, huh?
nice blades! thinking of buying that profili, looks great, and nice reviews!
at the beginning of the vid when you say you need to strongly consider..i thought you were going to say "move". that wouldve been hilarious. you need to strongly consider moving. i see some of my favorite knives in this lineup. goodstuff
thanks and keep the great reviews comeing
The Spyderco civilian looks like somthing the Joker would use.

Good video. Interesting selection. Surprised you used the Spyderco Manix2 XL instead of a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 or Military..
Thanks. The blades on the Para and Military are at a forward angle to the handles, which makes them better slicers/slashers, but it also puts a lot more stress on the locks during a thrust. Basically, I feel the Manix2 XL is less likely to close on the user.

thank you! say a fixed blade isn't an option.....what company would you recommend for a good folder.
