    I eliminated a ton of clutter with one rule: when I see something on Amazon that I want, I put it in my cart then wait a minimum 24 hours before placing the order. Now I don't buy way more than I do. No more boxes to break down, no more "stuff" that needs a home, no more plastic to float on the ocean. Ahh.

    • @stampinprn
      @stampinprn Год назад +31

      I do this too. I always add to cart and then wait a few days and most of the time I don’t buy it.

    • @almmason7

      Try a year!!! I wond up putting it in save for later, since I may have to buy something else, and I add it to one of my Amazon list. If I want or need it, then I know where to find it.

      Me too! I add to cart and then wait till payday (every two weeks for us) to check out. I always end up removing a bunch of things and think "I'm so glad I didn't end up buying that!"

      Same, although some things have been in my "Saved for Later" for over 6 years. I finally ordered myself a Roomba after deliberating about it for 5 1/2 years (it's slated to come Monday) because I don't want to have to deal with another shedding season (which is no joke when you work on a horse ranch) without one.

    GROCERY LISTS: both my husband and I have the Walmart app on our phones with the same email account. Whenever we run out of something we add it to the cart in the app. We don’t even have to search for the item because if you use the scan barcode feature it automatically brings it up. Then when we go shopping, and that’s not always Walmart, we take the item out if the cart as we put it into our actual cart. The added bonus is knowing how much everything is going to cost before getting to the register. That’s saved us a lot of money by forcing us to stick to the budget.

    This is probably my germophobia at play here but I cannot imagine using a vacuum on my silverware container unless that attachment has only EVER been used on that surface (or similarly clean surfaces). The idea of using a vacuum that was used on stairs on a silverware container is so gross to me.
    If my silverware container has crumbs in it, I just empty it and dump crumbs on the floor and then vacuum them up from there. While my silverware container is empty, I wash it, dry it, and put the silverware back in.

    Wow, you just made me feel so much better! You made me feel like I am NOT a stupid piece of crap! Thank you. I do occasionally impulse buy from QVC and HSN....and I also forget about it until it arrives....yep. sometimes I think oh yeah cool, good thing I ordered this and then other times I am like..oops! But then...yes, pack it up,ship it back.
    I will say I have bought an item from Amazon that was not returnable...it was a dry erase calendar board and it was crappy....oh well...but be careful and make sure returnable, and a bug thanks for making me feel normal and worthy and really feel good actually!

    So my favorite amazon purchase so far has been the Swedish Dishcloth. (reusable paper towels)
    Reasons I switched, I have promised myself to make this household a little more eco conscious, so zero waste products and biodegradable swaps stuff like that.
    I waste sooo many paper towels daily when it comes to cleaning surfaces and counters, microfiber cloths are so pricey and bad for the enviornment when it comes to washing them they leave micro fibers in the water. So when i heard about these cloths i had found a roll of 30 sheets for $22 and each sheet lasts for a whole year!
    I have only 4 out, 2 in the kitchen and 2 for my cleaning caddy and have used them everyday everywhere. Except the restroom, i am still not comfortable there and use regular paper towels for that still lol

    i have a swiffer like duster but mine i can throw in the washer, we have a 2 story entry and i see the cobweb on the light all the time, drives me crazy but the swiffer one wasn't long enough so i found a reusable one at target and i can reach the light fixture. I also got a reusable spray mop from them and extra pads. I love it, I spot clean with it all the time, my toddler still thinks throwing food on the floor is ok. We have 2 roombas, one for upstairs and one for downstairs, we also have the mop one, ahhh love it! my floors cause me the most stress, i get overwhelmed by them so the mop roomba really helps, we use it once a week and the vacuum roomba almost daily, i have 2 cats so their tumble weed hair fluff gets sucked up quickly. I had one of those shower dispensers when I was in my late teens/early 20s, i liked it but the shampoo i have has to be shaken so it doesn't work for me. I have something similar to the oil sprayer, i love it, we use olive oil and i love that i can spray it instead of drizzling it from the bottle.

    I also can second the True Earth laundry strips - EXCELLENT and so small and such little waste!
    And I thought I was the only adult who eats chewable vitamins?! 😂
    And the shower soap dispenser is a super money saver! I have four kids 12 and under and they were using at least one bottle of each conditioner and shampoo per week. I had the dispenser in my Amazon cart for over a year before I finally ordered it and wish I had sooner! I filled it once (two bottles) at Christmas and only now am nearing needing to fill it. They finally use a normal amount of soap and shampoo! And the fact that you don't need a ton of bottles all over and some are half empty and others keep falling over trying to have them upside down so that you can get the last drops out... no more!
    And I have four pairs of those yoga pants - LOVE!! They wash up beautifully, too.

I have bought so many items from Amazon. I like to buy items that make my life easier. I work from home and it is hard to just stop what I am doing to let out the dogs, Amazon came to the rescue with a doggie door. I have blurams camera's all through my house, inside and out. I can keep an eye on my home while in the office or away from home. Amazon has everything, even car parts ( My husband found out about the car parts and now he is a Amazon fan ). And Yes! Delivery is amazingly fast.

    The wrap dress on you was the MOST ADORABLE one! Great video! Face masks? Great share! Nervous about "fishy smell," but def. keep the mom self-care suggestions coming! :D

    YES, the shower dispenser is fantastic. I love it so much that when we moved I bought a new set (left the new bottles in for the buyers cause yuck), even my kids showers have them.

    Some of my favorite Amazon products: the Nest Reed Diffusers, MCT Oil Powder and Collagen Peptides, instead of regular coffee creamer, and Rawganic Facial Wipes, because I hate washing my face at night. It’s a lazy hack - gets my face feeling clean and fresh without waking me up!

    The laundry sheets still have microplastics in them. Polyvinyl chloride doesn't fully biodegrade. So while it isn't a big jug, it's still using a plastic that ends up in the water. So if you are doing it to get away from plastic, the sheets aren't the solution.

    • @maggierose97
      @maggierose97 Год назад +3

      Well darn. I looked it up on Google and just as many people say it is a plastic as those that say it is not. "It" being poly vinyl alcohol. I found a research paper on the The National Institute of Health that concluded that PVA has a slow degration rate and due to massive amounts used is cause for concern as a pollutant. The title of the paper had to do with PVA in waste water and one of the author's is Rolsksy. Sorry I don't remember the exact title.

    • @lisafinlayson9853
      @lisafinlayson9853 Год назад +1

      @@maggierose97 you are correct. Alcohol not chloride. But the polyvinyl is the clue to "It is still plastic" and what I have read is that it doesn't disappear like people want it to. So not a bottle, or a pod which is also made of the polyvinyl, but still microplastic that ends up in the water.

      Polyvinyl alcohol doesn't contain microplastics and completely biodegrades.
