That 300 RUM rig of yours is insane. Together with these loads and the 250gr a-tips - and of course an awesome shot behind the trigger - absolutely impressive. What a show!
I notice more and more people here in the states watching this channel and talking about the videos. It's hard to find ammo or reloading supplies here right now. Even hard just to find toilet paper. It's a great escape to watch you two bang steel. Thanks for making my evening a little better.
I love the sound of that rifle. Unique. And that was some good shooting!! On a lighter side of a bad situation, I imagine you 2 don't have any problems with people keeping their "social distance". Stay safe!!
Great try at 2.2 miles, I have been waiting for this video with 300RUM. Having everything shut down and not being able to go to the range in killing me, I have heard just before the pandemic hit the range I go extended from 1 mile to 2500 yards will several other new targets set up in between and I wanting to try my load of 180eldm in my 7mm rem mag out.
Mark, do you use a ballistic app? I use Strelock Pro and ABMobile. Also on cant why not incorporate a bubble on your scope? I have one on each of my rifles. Typically the ones that flip out and allow me to look a target with one eye and with the other eye my bubble
Hi John, I use the Strelok Pro, tuned with my data on these shots, and I use the Vortex scope mounted bubble level, because I am always transferring scopes around now days, but have previously used the flip out US Optics units, but they tend to need shimming to get right, Cheers
Nice work guys so close. Starting to really like this cartridge from what I've read it has some decent performance figures. What is the recoil like? It looked fairly composed but then again you guys make a 416 Barrett look composed no doubt due to how well you set up your rifles. Thanks for sharing, loving this channel!
@@98ka76le54p I think you're probably right about the 7mm ballistics. I put down my 300RUM, and my 300 Win Mag several years ago due to the thumping it was giving me. I moved back to a project I had been working on, a 280 Remington, and limited my maximum range a little. Then, I thought about making it a 280 AI, which is just moving into the near 7 mm Mag territory. I bought 6.5 Creedmore for daughter and for picnic target popping. I'll probably be steeping that 280AI into the range we really wanted.
Just had to work it out, normal start lower and work up, I just set up 4 rounds with 2 grs different each and fired to check pressures in my combo, then use that info for starting point, Cheers
On that last one I really thought it was going to hit, but hey it was a great attempt and I definitely think you will be successful on your next try, I had to laugh when you put that comment on leaning that bolt handle without verifying the cant because I've had it happen more than a few times LOL! Loved the last .22lr BTW, you guys are a great team 👍👍!
what over all length are you shooting here? in the process of building a 300 rum and wanting to long throat it. also what is your load data and fps? thanks!
Wow, the replay at 4:08s or so, have you guys charted the drop on that thing per yard at that distance? Basically, once in its downward dive the bullet must be moving like crazy in the vertical axis. A very steep dive. Said another way what is its "danger close" impact at that distance for that sized target. At 1425y I know if I moved my windage a single .1MRAD it was like a 6" movement on target and with a 16" plate on center it was like an edge hit or a miss with a little wind. Getting that close at 2.2 is a trip!
They are actual not dropping in too step, around 10 maybe 15 degrees, but still they sure do get affected by the many small wind changes along the way, glad you liked, Cheers
@@HJPreen I think the Strelok stuff is stand alone, works well for us, and no we have support options on our webstore (link below video) for those that would like and can afford to help us, Cheers and all the best.
Sooo close. You’ve probably covered this already but what anti-cant device do you use? I’m thinking you might have said US optics but I watch a lot of videos. Also, might get laughed off of RUclips for this, but has anybody been able to build any anti-cant aid into the scope itself? Like into the reticle or something. Hope I don’t regret asking that out loud. Lol. Thanks for the video.
Where’s all this powder coming from that you use to reload to be shooting so much ?¿ I can’t find Retumbo , H1000, or N565 anywhere, so I can’t do anymore shooting atm :(
Did 9" twist work to stabilize a 250 gn A-Tip? Im just waiting for my 300 Norma Magnum with 9" twist. (I´m a Swede). I hope the Corona pandemi is over zoon so I can by a Adjustable Bag bases o you. I have waited for part from the USA for a long time caused of this corona basterd.
Hi Bumpa, yes they run fine in this 1:9 as you can see, and yes we are still shipping and largely unaffected, but some places in the world are running a little slower, Cheers
Great job you two! Sounds like you got 2 nicks on the plate or the frame. I know that didn't count in your book. That thing is extremely consistent. Stay safe.
Watching this vs the 1000 yard .22 is almost the same for me in terms of skill level but I guess in reality the longer distances are technically much harder?

Thank you . I am learning from you many things.

Nice video. With the 300 RUM, how many shots does it take before the barrel becomes too hot ?
Depends on many details, but we don't have an issue with barrel heat, Cheers
Solid effort, damn that's a long way to shoot.
