The Liverpool 4th place predictions are a reminder how much people forget/underestimated just how many injuries there were last season combined with a once in a decade finishing slump. People say it was just van djik, but ignore the gomez, matip injuries which forced fabinho and henderson out of the midfield into the backline (who both had really untimely injuries as well), which caused problems further upfield.

What people seem to forget in the 2020/21 season was that Liverpool had been in first place by Boxing day even without Van Dijk. But then, Joe and Matip both got injured and we had to play Fabinho and Hendo in the back and they started to get injured. We, then, had to play Rhys Williams, Nat Philips, and Kabak in the back. Thiago also had his injuries. We never had a healthy consistent 11 from January. So, we slipped way down to 8th at one point.

  • @tianco.moneyhouse
    @tianco.moneyhouse 2 года назад +143

Liverpool finished above Chelsea last season and 5 points behind Man Utd when they had a "really good" season, with Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips at the back. After an injury hit season, they were literally run away champions the season before that.
So it was kinda ridiculous seeing everyone predicting us to finish 4th and 5th below the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea lol.

Also bare in mind the injury record for that season was record breaking - only 1 fixture with a fully fit squad all season. 5 first teamers missed over 50% of the season and 3 more missed 25%, started the season without Alisson as well.

    - don't trust new mega signings to make quick impact. lukaku and grealish failed to deliver .
    - look at the weakness of teams and see how it could affect them. Hungary's exposing ngolo kante's affected Chelsea and put them outsiders
    - look at history of teams and managers . Liverpool and Manchester city are dominating, so it was expected that one of them will win the league.

Transfers are important but it's not the players going in that are important. It's the players staying on. Premier League starting best elevens are almost irrelevant. It's the squad depth that counts. Are the players on the bench a coin flip away from starting, or does the line up write itself every game? That's the key between putting your manager in a position to win the league or not, based on his decisions and squad management.

I agree that this should've or could in the future be a Sunday Vibes episode. I'd like to see them discuss their mistakes and try to process how they made them, like Joe did with his buying into transfers too much.

My top 5 and relegation candidates were the exact same as hamills, Liverpool disrespect solely cuz I am an Everton fan. I did have Everton 14th as well lol

As a Liverpool supporter.... think you lot underestimated us a bit 😉 Gosh you lot are probably glad we didn't win the league probably would have felt worse 😅 I get the underestimation because our team was so injury prone last season but still, we were one point from winning the league this season and could have won it if Villa had scored another 😅

the liverpool predictions aren't as bad as people think because obviously at start of season you cannot predict january signings. if liverpool didn't buy diaz in january, they wouldn't have finished near city

The biggest shock is that people watch Sunday vibes tbh. Shouts out to Hamill he absolutely carried y’all, he wasn’t wrong about Rafa being influential

Even without the takeover, i still don't understand the hatw on Newcastle, it was the same squad from the previous year, so why all of a sudden were they 19th? And also, even if Bruno G made a difference, the player of the season was Joelinton, who was already there, most of the squad Eddie used to get them to 11 was already there. They would have survived even without the takeover

Newcastle were bottom of the league for most of the first half of the season; they were terrible under Bruce and not much better under Howe to start with. Imo had they not been taken over it's not unreasonable to say Bruce would've stayed and they would've been relegated.

Nobody realised liverpool would do well (except liverpool fans)... over 4 years they literally had 2 champs finals, 1 pl, 1 cl, 2x 90+ point seasons, came 3rd with 3x central defenders out for most of the season, and everybody put them 4th.
Cohesion is vital. Teams that buy too many players do badly. It happens every season. Transfers are vital - too many of them destroy you.
Everybody will put them second next year. It's the same team!

Don't think there was a minute in this video when the Lukaku signing wasn't mentioned. Even if he wasn't absolutely appalling, discounting players such as Salah and KDB just because they aren't new signings is appalling from you guys, especially when these guys have proved themselves in the PL and Lukaku was crap during his last PL spell
