I'm swapping a 459 into an old John Deere tractor. The only criticism I have is the charge circuit doesn't put a lot out. If you have led lights and run it enough it should be fine, but the winch on there will take a toll and it will take a while to charge back up.
Agreed. But you can take the flywheel off and bolt on a second magnet pickup. But for the money this motor is AWESOME !! Tons of power for little motor. Thanks for checking out the video.
@@1620GarageAndFarm No doubt it's a beast for the money, just the only potential catch with it. And yes you can add another coil but even then it's still pretty weak. Again, for many it's fine, but if you need constant electric power like my JD swap and the electric PTO it becomes a problem. Also a lot of the 420 parts don't fit. Exhaust is different and I don't think a 420 billet flywheel fits if you're looking to go that route. The black "drain" has a screen filter in it BTW. So you get filtered pressure lube in this engine.
I'm wondering what you did about the rubber engine mount by the drive pulley. I didn't see it in the video. I'm doing the same engine swap and I plan to fab one up to fit the 459 since it doesn't have the same mount points for it as the Honda clone. I'm worried that since the 459 has more power, it will twist the lower rubber mounts too much. That upper mount is there to prevent that pull from the pulley from twisting the mounts. Thanks. PS: Was your torque converter rusted on or did you forget the bolt in the shaft end?
Hi , the clutch was frozen on just old age. Shoot me your email and I will snap a coupe of pics showing the mount , I welded it & 90 degrees, no issues in 2 years now. I was using it today on my farm
I just did this same swap. Used the rubber mounts only. Removed the studs and drilled holes through the rubber. No movement at this time and no vibration.
@@1620GarageAndFarm lol I asked because I actually have a 20hp kohler I was thinking of using in it and a 16hp kubota water cooled diesel..thanks for reply good to know it does make difference I guess it will go till clutch explodes lol
@kodiakdynasty5074 if you go bigger , you may need a bigger rear end / gear box .. you may want to check this guy out .. he makes some amazing stuff for cross karts, and some really cool custom suspension for the after person to fab up ruclips.net/video/dqRmxrrj92A/видео.htmlsi=PHvpOixvtM2hiojs
Hello, I’m halfway through my project and every time I try to use electric start my motor make the same noise yours did? Any helpful tips on where you fixed your ground?
@@donnieharmon7100 let me know if you don’t find the issue. I can give you a run down on my wiring . I have had a few people ask. I may do a video on it.

very nice
Thanks for checking it out
How did you wire up the key what wires did you use? I see the ground but what other wire did you use? Thanks
I will go back and double check the wiring. I think it was one of the black wires I spliced from the motor, into the start button on the 459
Hello, great video thanks, I just did the 459 swap as well. Did you use the rear horizontal motor mount? Wondering if it's needled.
Ray
Yes I did use the rear mount as well. So far the swap has been great. The motor is a little cold blooded .. she needs choke on almost every start
Thanks for checking out my video and channel.
The rear bracket on mine isn't even close. I'll have to fab something up. Your right about cold blooded. Love the increase in power.
Big bump in power for sure !! Really impressive for short money from harbor freight.
I did have to modify my bracket. I will get you some photos. Shoot me an email 1629garage@gmail
What did you do with the side motor mount?
It’s attached. Mine was broken and I had to weld it back on.
Does it go faster after engine swap and more power gain?i have a tired Honda on mine and am considering a bigger engine like yours
Added about 8mph, and more torque for sure. Kinda wish I went 670, but that would have been more fab work.

Do you still have the 3 slip shoes from your old clutch? I may be interestested in them.
I will look in my garage. But I think I tossed them.
Can you send me the information for the clutch replacement for the 459cc predator?? I can’t find one
No problem. It was the comet 780 found here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0B5CQ29JK/?tag=1620garage-20
