Leonidas was trained from the age of 7 to kill, a kick to the groin might stun the guy but in reality he would have won in 10 seconds. He would also be wearing either a muscled cuirass with pteruges which would cover him or a linothorax/ spolas.
Jay the Spartan Warrior of Thermopylae and Hector is a fictional warrior that according to the Illiad, was the greatest warrior in all of Troy. He too, if he were real, would have also been trained from a very young age.
@Tdan Kendros sparta wasn't properly formed i hope u know that. If the movie Helen of Troy those were some shitty Spartans of those days. Plus Leonidas is a formidable warrior who fought the immortals the greatest fighting force of all of Asia (so they say until Mongols came). Plus this is total war where... its a 50-50 chance any unit of the same class can win
@@unlimited362 The random brute you are referring to was called Ajax and he was the 2nd best warrior after Achilles. I assume that you have watched just the movie. Go read Iliad before making assumptions. Also just fyi, I am Greek, I am from Sparta and my name is Hector ;) !
I was expecting Hector to lose this fight simply because so many Leo fans out there would expect it. Hector was one of my favorite warriors of the Ancient world. He was a great fighter and seemed to be pretty decent as a person according to the accounts. I want to see Caesar in a fight. In the battle of Alesia he proved his worth as a warrior.
iplyrunescape305 yeah he was real and it was recorded by various greeks and rome claimed to be the remnants of the fleeing trojans. That might not be true but it was something that was taken as being real. Pergamon was proud to boast of this as well.
+PLAXID Videos Lots and lots and lots of dislikes for overuse of slow motion. Read the comment section lol. It usually tells you why a video has a lot of dislikes.
It seems that stamina was the only deciding factor here based on the Spartans opening of his guard(which I doubt would've happened first). Also, since the Spartan was not only trained to kill from a youths age, but to steal without getting caught, his success would depend upon his cunning speed of mind and speed of action(both of which he must have to advance). This leads me to believe that this fight was 'fixed'. I want my money back!
All the dislikes are probably from 300 Leonidas fan boys who believe he could have beaten hector. Great video though and no doubt Hector would have been the victor.
Hugh Mungus becuause a shit ton of people like leonidas and the fact that hector did this weord walk thing and then kicked him in the balls wasnt what people expected
Skyrising Plot twist: Hector played with Leonidas right from the start letting Leonidas think he had the upper hand. When Leonidas had tired himself enough Hector brought in the victory dance and ended the poor fella that was Leonidas.
gabriel ferraz Nah. Just gonna call Patrick. Also, Hector won the duel fair and square. If nobody ever used dirty tactics in combat, battles would be a lot longer and monotonous.
basically the game runs the numbers before they meet and says hector is going to win, The rest is just what the game does to make it a rts and not a dice rolling simulator.
Easily. Not because of skill, but because of weaponry. Spartans had sharpened forged iron, Troy had cast bronze weapons. One clash between swords and Hector's sword would have been rendered useless. That's my take anyway. Victory by technology.
+Pluto_Disaster What the fuck is what? It's a downright retarded comparison to begin with, due to the era difference, but in my objective opinion on both of these Hector would kick Leonidas' ass in reality just as well. Just what mralex070 said. A screaming actor two millenia later is very far from a 400 B.C. Leonidas. You don't have to be a historian to know trivia such as this. And I don't see anything wrong with that kick. That's what everybody did. It's what you do to stun your enemy when a shield bash isn't a viable option.
Spectacular effects, great videos dude! But what's with all the dislikes? I see nothing wrong in any kind of angle, except perhaps the way Leo's dressed and Hector's final kick to Leo's crotch. Leonidas probably wouldn't have let his guard down after that one. But there's absolutely nothing samesonite can do about that.
+Stan Kura the majority of the dislikes are coming from Greece according to my analytics page, this might be a blow to their heritage. A second cause is the movie 300 were Leonidas is next to undefeatable...
+samesonite I am Greek, and I don't understand why Greeks would dislike this video... Blow to our heritage? Don't think so.. It must be the second thought of yours I guess...
Teehuatua Wow, ALRIGHT, here's an Thing, If Leonidas faced Hector in Real Life , Leonidas would definitely Win, cause he Fights like Crazy as fuck , and has trained since his childhood, in the Legends, Spartans were Told to Train in age 7, so, for my opinion Leonidas should have won
Hector took the smarter move he knew he was loosing and he was more injured especially being hit in the stomach by a shield and hector decided to kick him in the spot and knew that was a weak spot so he did that so he wouldn't loose the hurried and stabbed him in the shoulder to finish him plus I know this don't matter in battle but Leonidas is way taller than hector but it didn't matter to them
If its based on the Troy and 300 movies then Leonidas wins in a hard fought battle. But if its based on historical accuracy and what actually happened based on the Illiad and Ancient spartan history then Hector slaughters leonidas easily.
I would not say easily, Hector was a cunning warrior and skilled soldier. That being said Leonidas was put through Spartan training just as any Spartan boy, which is historically thought of as one of the toughest if not the toughest training regimen for any soldier or boy. Also, Spartans are battle tested before the events of Thermoplyae, but it is mostly thought that the Trojan War was Hector's only war, and he was defeated in it with a much larger army and superb defensive positioning. Leonidas is thought to be as old as 60 when he thought at Thermopylae(pretty badass if you ask me) and was likely battle hardened. I think Leonidas in his prime vs Hector in his prime would be much closer than you think, and Leonidas would probably come out on top.
James Fitzgerald I agree that spartans were tough but i think hector has the edge because he is more battle tested. Spartans usually fight as a single unit and very few engage in one on one battles on the battlefield. Hector actually fought in the trojan-spartan wars and during the trojan greek war and according to the illiad killed abut 31000 greek soldiers. thats quite impressive. Prime vs prime i think hector dominates but leonidas fights his heart out and to the death....hector most likely would win in dominating fashion.
Optimus 292 I think its safe to say that Hector did not kill 31,000 greek soldiers and it was merely an exaggeration meant to add to the epic proportions of the Illiad. I would go further than the word "tough" to describe Spartans. They were hardcore, ruthless, and utterly dominant on the battlefield. The same cannot be said for the Trojans. The Spartans have been fighting since they were children and unlike Hector. Hector acquired his fame because of 1 battle that is not "battle tested" fighting and training since birth and being involved in several wars is battle tested. Leonidas was a great king and better warrior. He, like any Spartan, used a shield and spear to perfection and would employ that training against Hector. You probably like Hector but don't let you bias fool you, Leonidas would win, no questions asked.
Trojan -Spartan wars? what the hell are you smoking man? There is no Trojan -Spartan war dude. Homer wrote illiad in 700 bc and Spartans came from the north and occupied Greece 200years later.Stop watching Hollywood man and open a history book.Sparta did not exist in The Trojan war as Sparta it was the Mycenaean era not the Classic greek era so town states like Athens korinth Sparta Thebes and so on did not exist. And its not a Tojan -Greek war ,Trojans where Greeks-mycenaeans that settled in little Asia and became powerful and decided that they would not pay or keep relations with the motherland that is why the war happened .Hellen was just a profasis .It's just the Trojan war. Everybody that actually had a decent civilization at that era in mediteranian seas was Greek and Egyptian. So Troy was founded as a colony that went rogue.
Hector scored three swipes of the blade on ol Achilles, and from the look on his face that was something that had never happened before. He decided then to take the fight more seriously and end it quickly. Decent armour and a dip in some invincible water can carry you a long way.
Steve Gabriel Everyone thinks he is some kind of god, immortal and unbeatable but I tell you what your six pack won't stop a sword from going straight through your gut and that shield can't hold of a blunt weapon forever either.
During the fight Leonidas struck Hector in the abdomen with his shield. Instead of striking with his shield he could have brought it up to block while he thrust his sword into hector.
People actually think that the creator made Hector win, and are extremely butt hurt that Leonidus didn't win. However we could never truly know who would win because both were great warriors in their own right. But let us remember that Leonidas wasn't this god who couldn't be killed (He was) He was just some really badass king from Sparta.
Daniel Guldberg Also look at the fact that Hector is a myth while Leonidas isn't. If you look at the training Hector would've had if he were a real person, it pales in comparison to what a Spartan's training was. And Leonidas led them haha, ain't easy to get top of your class when your class is full of people who are total badass mofos. :p
ok, so the battle of Troy was around 1300-1200 BC, and the battle of Thermopylae was around 480 BC, approximately 800 years apart, yet the tools and tactics are near the same. Now compare the LAST 800 years of warfare...kinda scary.
From reading the comments it's clear alot of you guys dont know who Hector is. There is little chance for the mortal Leonidas against a God like Hector. But still, that finishing move wasnt very honourable and hector wouldn't do that if he were true to the original character.
I guess you mean Achilles. Achilles is a good and would beat Leonidas in mortal combat. Though, they both got a top notch fighting ability, Achilles would defeat him! But for Hector, I doubt if Hector could have faced Leonidas and see the light of the day😀😁
@@emekaokoh498 Both Hector and Achilles were of the golden race of men, far stronger than a mere mortal. Leonidas was simply a spartan military tactician made famous by an inaccurate Hollywood movie, he would stand no chance against the heroes of Grecian Mythology
in a real fight between those two probably hector would win without even kicking leonidas balls . .. . because hector was troy's best warrior and leonidas at the battle of Thermopylae was 61 years old even though he was a spartan . . .. in ancient greece the phalanx makes the difference not one single warrior
everyone seems to forget that spartans are not stand alone fighters, they are legendary group fighters but their specialty is not 1v1 duels. in the legends hector was a close match for a freaking unkillable warrior who was also a legendary swordsman to boot. group fighter vs a duel specialist, it's a mismatch.
Hector was a GREAT warrior during the Iliad, like fighting Achilles when it was obvious that he couldn't have won, showing him a true warrior. But, Leonidas is a lot better than Hector in the fields of one on one combat. I'm not trying to start an argument here, but I believe that Leonidas should have won this battle. Both Hector and Leonidas fought to the death when they both knew that they couldn't have won, like Hector fighting the legendary Achilles, and Leonidas fighting the entire persian empire. But, Leonidas is a much better fighter. That't my thought. :-)
TellyTubbieArmy What gives you that impression? Achilles was considered almost immortal who couldn't be killed except by being hit in his heel. Hector fought him. It was mythic. Leonidas was an actual person. He was a great warrior but his only real claim to fame was that he led the 300. What other great warrior did he actually ever fight one on one? When a mythic legendary warrior fights an actual historical character the legend will always win. It's like Hercules fighting Rocky Marciano.
WILTALK Either way, scientists have indeed proven that there could have been a fire set in ancient Troy in the Asia Minor, so Hector could have been a real person. Either way, real or fake, the way that Hector is explained, Leonidas could beat him, guaranteed. Leonidas is a much better fighter than Hector of Troy. Hector was a prince, so he didn't have 100% battle training his whole entire life. Leonidas was trained to be a warrior basically from the day that he was born. He was such a skilled fighter, that they even made him king. Sure, Hector had some training in combat, but he didn't have nearly as much training as Leonidas. An that's my opinion. Take it or leave it. (:
TellyTubbieArmy Could have been a person is not being a real person. Hector was known as a great warrior who could only be defeated by the simi god like Achillies. Training isn't everything there is also natural ability. Granted Leo was a great warrior but to say that he would positively defeat Hector is pure speculatory opinion on your part. Hector was as much the leader of his army. He was not only the best warrior in the Trojan Army but next to Achillies the best in the World. When you are a myth you can make that kind of claim. It was never established that Leo was the best during his time. He was just considered the best in the Spartan army. The Spartans actually always had two kings because one always led the army from the front and one stayed at home as a spare. That was never even mentioned in any of the 300 movies. If you are going by those they are not accurate. You see in the Hector and Trojan myths the gods were involved which gave those who where favored by the gods a distinct advantage. There is no mention of the gods in the story of the gods favoring Leo or his army. They are set in two different realities and universes.
WILTALK I respect that opinion of yours. But, the Iliad was just of a myth as the 300. Myth or fake, Leonidas was a much better and skilled warrior over Hector, period. You are right there, as the Gods may have interfered with Achilles' and Hectors' battle. Either way, Achilles probably would have won the duel. Hector was a great warrior, don't get me wrong here. He fought until he died; and so did Leonidas of Sparta. Leonidas knew that he would have died at thermopylae just as much as Hector knew that he was going to die beyond the walls of Troy. Leonidas was just more skilled and more intelligent than Hector. Like you said, Hector was the best in the world other than Achilles himself at the time. Leonidas was the best in the world at his time as well. They were from two totally different time periods, so of course, they could have never possibly fought each other. Either way, Leonidas would have most definitely beaten Hector in a one-on-one duel.
TellyTubbieArmy When I speak of god influencing outcomes it was because of Achillis mother dipping him into a certain river that made him invunerable to injury. That is why he beat Hector not because he was a better warrior. Hector blade just couldn't hut Achillies. It's like he was wearing weightless armor. That was why he knew he couldn't win. Hector was also favored by certain gods that supported Troy. The god were split and took different sides in that conflict. Leo would never have been able to beat Hector no matter how good he was. Actually Hector beat of the best fighters that Greece had offer not named Achillies in one on one combat. In Greek mythology the hero's are born not made through training which is why no matter how good non mythical warrior is they can not beat a myth.
I don't think Leonidas ever fought without armour. Spartans fought to win, not to show off their Abs. That being said Hector would probably win, be aise the Spartans learnt to fight as a unit. They were not so effective in solo fights. Hector was used to fighting duels, like the one with Telamonian Ajax.
Honestly even though this is a video game or a computer simulation it was actually a great fight to watch, a much better fight than the movie Troy itself on the scene that Hector was fighting Achilles, but I seriously believe that leonidas would have beat Hector in real life, then again it took the Greek army including the Spartans 20 years at best to finally defeat Troy, only because of the Trojan Horse, if it wasn't for that Troy would have not defeated the Greek army, but the Greek army would have eventually gave up and left.
you absolutely need to do more, theres tons of people doing this rome 2 duel shit and most suck, besides this 1 theres only 2 or 3 i find good and watch more than once ever, this was superb, no combat animation clipping or interruption until the end lol, that was a huge let down BUT it was funny as hell so u didnt lose any points just traded some from the bad ass category to the funny category lol. and i like how u slowed some of it down to better see the animations cause there was a few moves in this vid that in game or other duels that seemed kinda...well un necessary in normal speed but when slowed and the flow of the animation could be shown really made it work better. please do more
Yea make more of these fights cuz some ppl do terrible ones do like a hero and its units vs another hero and its units for example Achilles and myrmithridons vs Leonidas and his 300 or hector and his units vs immortal leader and his units

+Silver Phlash900 Ultimate fighting force doesn't mean 100% automatic win. We could say Sparta could've rule the world with their 'ultimate fighting force' but we all know it's not going to happen due to all the slaves they have.
Leonidas wasn't some unchallengable fighter. He was a king, surrounded by the greatest killers in all of Greece. His strength was simply that he commanded the greatest killers in all of Greece. It's not like he was some god of war. In fact he received a lethal blow very early on in the final battle, and it was his men that retrieved his body and guarded it to their last breath. The more you know.
@@عبدالله-ب5ج7ر Haha I know. It's just that people have taken this theatrical recreation of the guy and use it as their real world example. In real life Leonidas had 4 arrows in his belly at sunrise during that final skirmish after they got surrounded. He didn't die hurling a javelin 100 yards at a God king. The last few remaining Spartans fought for their kings body and actually got it back for a short while before they were all finally killed.

Leonidas was trained from the age of 7 to kill, a kick to the groin might stun the guy but in reality he would have won in 10 seconds. He would also be wearing either a muscled cuirass with pteruges which would cover him or a linothorax/ spolas.
Jay the Spartan Warrior of Thermopylae Thanks! Remind me; how old was Leonidas when thermopylae happened?
***** 30's
cows Are awesome off the top of my head i think he was 65 give or take a few years. he was not Gerald Butler in his 30s
Jay the Spartan Warrior of Thermopylae and Hector is a fictional warrior that according to the Illiad, was the greatest warrior in all of Troy. He too, if he were real, would have also been trained from a very young age.
39acu Edit: i just looked it up, he was about 60 when he died. i was close

Idk about you but I'm pretty sure a regular spartan could defeat Hector
@Tdan Kendros Hector almost lost to some random brute
@Tdan Kendros sparta wasn't properly formed i hope u know that.
If the movie Helen of Troy those were some shitty Spartans of those days.

Plus this is total war where... its a 50-50 chance any unit of the same class can win

Why are people disliking his video when the game decided on its own, dont hate the youtuber hate the game.
he just had to kick his children

+PLAXID Videos Lots and lots and lots of dislikes for overuse of slow motion. Read the comment section lol. It usually tells you why a video has a lot of dislikes.
It seems that stamina was the only deciding factor here based on the Spartans opening of his guard(which I doubt would've happened first). Also, since the Spartan was not only trained to kill from a youths age, but to steal without getting caught, his success would depend upon his cunning speed of mind and speed of action(both of which he must have to advance). This leads me to believe that this fight was 'fixed'. I want my money back!

Imagine actually thinking leonidas could beat hector in a one on one fight... goes to show how ignorant this comment section is
Mabe you should know how Spartans were trained since they were born lol.
Easily. Not because of skill, but because of weaponry. Spartans had sharpened forged iron, Troy had cast bronze weapons. One clash between swords and Hector's sword would have been rendered useless.
That's my take anyway. Victory by technology.

Leonidas lost?! What the fuck is that? And this Hector kick in the end... No way.
Pluto_Disaster That is what all Total War fans now call a kick in the balls. A Hector kick.
+CRAZYPARTY98 why is everyone upset about that kick to the balls, their fighting to the death.... I'd do that first chance I get.
Kharn The Betrayer I would Hector kick him the first chance I got.
It's what you do to stun your enemy when a shield bash isn't a viable option.

exactly
+Justin Mathis i know xD
+Justin Mathis lmfao
Henry Dare. nothings fair. in war the Spartans were also gay untile they got meried and would kill there children if they had somthing wrong with them
Yep Hector would destroy Leonidas in single combat. The power of the Spartans was in the Phalanx, not one on one combat.
No Leanidas would destroy him actually

Numbers don't lie, son.
Hector only won because of that cheap shot
Donald Dank exactly wtf was that
It was obvious that Hector wins, he's a mythic hero, Leonidas was just a warrior between millions
To be honest that is cheating kicking a man in his private part not a fair battle
+Aaron Timothy his right that's is a for a coward fool booooo.
Whatever Works....What, you the Marquis of Queensbury or something....?!...

No such thing as a fair fight
Teehuatua Wow, ALRIGHT, here's an Thing, If Leonidas faced Hector in Real Life , Leonidas would definitely Win, cause he Fights like Crazy as fuck , and has trained since his childhood, in the Legends, Spartans were Told to Train in age 7, so, for my opinion Leonidas should have won
Leonidas actually had the upper hand for most of the fight... Until that nutshot tho
Neal Cleaver Yea, 10/10 would not recover from that
Hector took the smarter move he knew he was loosing and he was more injured especially being hit in the stomach by a shield and hector decided to kick him in the spot and knew that was a weak spot so he did that so he wouldn't loose the hurried and stabbed him in the shoulder to finish him plus I know this don't matter in battle but Leonidas is way taller than hector but it didn't matter to them
*****
How you doing to make the 1 vs 1 ? Thx
Neal Cleaver really i thought it was till it started glitching
If its based on the Troy and 300 movies then Leonidas wins in a hard fought battle. But if its based on historical accuracy and what actually happened based on the Illiad and Ancient spartan history then Hector slaughters leonidas easily.
Very true and well put good sir
Hector almost defeated the legendary Achilles you know the Demi God.
Wasn't very close , this videos horse shit 😅
Hector scored three swipes of the blade on ol Achilles, and from the look on his face that was something that had never happened before. He decided then to take the fight more seriously and end it quickly. Decent armour and a dip in some invincible water can carry you a long way.

But let us remember that Leonidas wasn't this god who couldn't be killed (He was) He was just some really badass king from Sparta.
they lived in different times, Hector maybe lived 710 years before Leonidas was born., so we can't compare em

Sean O'Brieon y'ure Irish isnt you?
ok, so the battle of Troy was around 1300-1200 BC, and the battle of Thermopylae was around 480 BC, approximately 800 years apart, yet the tools and tactics are near the same.
Yeah
I guess you mean Achilles. Achilles is a good and would beat Leonidas in mortal combat. Though, they both got a top notch fighting ability, Achilles would defeat him! But for Hector, I doubt if Hector could have faced Leonidas and see the light of the day😀😁
@@emekaokoh498 Both Hector and Achilles were of the golden race of men, far stronger than a mere mortal. Leonidas was simply a spartan military tactician made famous by an inaccurate Hollywood movie, he would stand no chance against the heroes of Grecian Mythology
@@thewitchkingofangmar1715 yeah exactly dude hector has Homer on his damn side.
you confuse it with Achilles
in a real fight between those two probably hector would win without even kicking leonidas balls . .. . because hector was troy's best warrior and leonidas at the battle of Thermopylae was 61 years old even though he was a spartan . . .. in ancient greece the phalanx makes the difference not one single warrior
everyone seems to forget that spartans are not stand alone fighters, they are legendary group fighters but their specialty is not 1v1 duels. in the legends hector was a close match for a freaking unkillable warrior who was also a legendary swordsman to boot. group fighter vs a duel specialist, it's a mismatch.

Hector was used to fighting duels, like the one with Telamonian Ajax.
because
All these Spartan fan boys are wondering how did leonidas lose, meanwhile I'm wondering why did hector started dancing all of a sudden

@@brianeverett3767 of course you can't even tell the difference between fanboying and memeing

Ultimate fighting force doesn't mean 100% automatic win. We could say Sparta could've rule the world with their 'ultimate fighting force' but we all know it's not going to happen due to all the slaves they have.
And the fact that Rome had a more maneuverable formation. One of the reasons they stomped all over Greece

Leonidas should win and IT would be a more Interesting fight when leonidas fought Achilles(sry for my english, im german)
Not even close behind Achilles it's leonidas of sparta pound for pound the greatest fighter of the era
