ohhh great series, despite playing it for around 70 hours I still haven't finished the game... So at later episodes I will be definelitely using these to advance further haha!
It is just a matter of getting used to the game. First playthroughs are always long. Mine took me 56 hours. Second time round it took me 15-20 hour. Just keep on going on, dude. Good luck
My first like 3 characters were all 40+ hour failures. First few Builds kept getting stonewalled and needing just too much grinding to feel any stronger. Eventually I got a build through and have beat it now, but even in loss it was still fun to play.
i have beaten salt and sanctuary 3 times and i will still watch every last one. also, thanks for introducing me to the game. i had a lot of fun the whole time i played.
Since you’ve inspired so many of us to play the game, you should definitely continue this series! I just got started and I could definitely use some advice! Haha
Idk why, but I just started this game today and started as the chef. Might explain why I had a hard time starting out. I did stick with it though, and am now wielding a massive axe and wearing heavy armor (except helmet, that’s a pumpkin)
Oh man I was hoping this was being recommended to me from your backlogs (heh) and that there was more of these to watch right now, I picked this up on a sale and it's just as fantastic as you say, but you also make it seem so easy! I need more of these videos!
I have never played this game, nor XCom, or half the others on this channel. Despite that, this dude's attitude entertains me and I will continue to watch everything you release. Keep doing good work, Lemon. :)
Loving your content so far Lemon! All tour challenge vids for this game made me want to play it, so bought it on steam earlier. Nit played it yet as I needed sleep. Hope this series gets more additions over time, your wiki for this game will be like a second home for me I think. I might even try some of the challenges when I get to a decent playing level :)
Wow I was just looking for a beginners guide and a non-fextralife wiki AND I'm familiar with your channel already from souls challenge runs. Perfectly targeted video.
I'm excited for you to discuss sanctuaries and converting them. That's a mechanic I never knew existed when I played the game, and only first heard about through watching your videos
Salt and Sanctuary content is what led me to this channel. Had the physical copy of Salt and Sanctuary (for the Switch) for a while, watching your videos got me to sit down and play it after I burned myself out on DS3 waiting for Elden Ring. Fell in love with S&S and completed two full runs before picking up Elden Ring, a great sword build and a more traditional paladin build. After I had my fill of Elden Ring, I'll be trying out that pistol only run you did, as that looks like great fun too. Thanks for the content, and I look forward to further uploads.
Just finished the game several days ago. Now I am current doing a re-run with a fresh character and no blocking challenge. So far, this game got me hooked on soul-like game again after so many hours of rts and jrpg.
I only barely considered playing this game like, 5 years ago, but I seriously feel like giving it a try after reading this video. This has got to be one of THE most helpful "beginner's guide" video for a game I have ever seen. And the fact that this is only the first video is really nice, it's way less intimidating then a 5 hour long video. Thank you so much for this! I'll have to give Salt and Sanctuary a shot (As soon as I look up of gore can be toggled off cuz my word I am squeamish)
THANK YOU! I wanted to play but I didn't understand anything so this playlist will be a massive help thank you. Also I love your challenge runs and all your other videos
This game is so much fun. When I started I had no idea what I was doing. But normally on this type of game, I like to pick a caster and then level them up to be more melee, so I can use a balance of both melee and magic.
Omg! I literally bought S&S because of your videos! But I gave up on it after barely playing because it was so so difficult Really excited for this series, definitely want to give the game another try :) I know I would love it as much as I love the soulsbornes if I could just get a little better lol
Salt and Sanctuary originally kept me occupied while I waited for Dark Souls 3 to release. Now Elden Ring is keeping me occupied while I wait for Salt and Sacrifice to release.
For me it was Paladin and then pauper every run after that. The blank slate was awesome for building whatever clicked that run, and the spear heavy attack is decent for beating the prologue boss.
"If the idea of skills is confusing to you, don't worry, I'm not gonna tell you what they are" Don't get me wrong, great video, just thought that was hilarious
This series might be useful for me because I’ve never beat salt and sanctuary and I started playing it on my channel to hopefully motivate me to beat it before salt and sacrifice comes out.
well i started my furst playthrough yesterday and saw the game has guns, i did just enough research to know to pick hunter and godess of light so i can get a gun early. then your video showed the hidden effects of guns, i like guns, so i use gun, mmhh gun
The lemon avatar gets it look from the elite knight armor from Dark Souls 1 darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Elite+Knight+Set The armor in the video is from a mod, you can see it in the description
The Amber Idol is a surprisingly useless starting gift, since the only thing it does is save time. Bloated monstrosities drop them, and there's one right outside the Sanctuary where you get the earliest access to an Alchemist.
This video is the reason I got this game and I'm in love with it i started playing co-op with a buddy the day i got it and we got 30 hours in 2 days because we can't stop playing thank you lemon!
Imagine the following: you only took the job because you had no other choice. A horrible storm came out of nowhere, and now you're stranded on an island and have to do the following: Can you beat every boss in S&S as a level 1 chef, no upgrades?
Crystalmoat Ring doesn't increase your focus. It only reduce the effect of maximum stamina decreasing from fatigue. You can't cast prayers and spells more times by wearing this ring.
This game is great but a bit rough around the edges, especially some of the bosses and balance. That is what makes me most excited for the sequel, which will hopefully iron out the kinks and make it truly amazing
i bought salt and sanctuary because of your videos! Even tho Elden Ring is my main game currently, i dabble in this game on and off when i am too frustrated and need time off from Elden Ring. One question, how does dodging work in this game? Do you just phase through stuff or do you only have i frames?
When I started play salt and sanctuary I picked chef because I liked the outfit and I did good despite not having very good stuff at the beginning By the end of the game I became the iron chef
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the chef class also a reference to the character of the same name from Ska Studios previous games, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai and The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile?
Do you plan on doing elden ring challenge runs? If so... the dragon run. Only abilities you can use to deal damage are the incantations you buy with dragon hearts
Just got this game a few days ago and I chose the hunter class not really knowing what I was doing and it made the first boss ridiculously hard for some reason. I fought vordt in ds3 16 times and he didn't even come close to the level of frustration sodden knight gave me. Still fun as hell to slap a bitch with a whip and then put a crossbow bolt in em tho.
ohhh great series, despite playing it for around 70 hours I still haven't finished the game... So at later episodes I will be definelitely using these to advance further haha!
It is just a matter of getting used to the game. First playthroughs are always long. Mine took me 56 hours. Second time round it took me 15-20 hour. Just keep on going on, dude. Good luck

Still on character creation, huh?
@@ArunPandianApk what the? I beat it 100%(all bosses) in like 15 hours first go How do you stretch it that much?
My first like 3 characters were all 40+ hour failures. First few Builds kept getting stonewalled and needing just too much grinding to feel any stronger. Eventually I got a build through and have beat it now, but even in loss it was still fun to play.
i have beaten salt and sanctuary 3 times and i will still watch every last one.
also, thanks for introducing me to the game. i had a lot of fun the whole time i played.
I know these are old videos, but your challenges in this game and its sequel inspired me to get both!
really hope this series gets continued one day
Since you’ve inspired so many of us to play the game, you should definitely continue this series!
I just got started and I could definitely use some advice! Haha

I did stick with it though, and am now wielding a massive axe and wearing heavy armor (except helmet, that’s a pumpkin)
I can't wait for when I get Salt and Sanctuary, this series will be a massive help
Watching this makes me realize once more how much more there is to the game, than what I experienced in my one playthrough °-°
Same here. I think I will give a second playthrough soon.
Oh man I was hoping this was being recommended to me from your backlogs (heh) and that there was more of these to watch right now, I picked this up on a sale and it's just as fantastic as you say, but you also make it seem so easy! I need more of these videos!
I actually chose Hunter for my first, and fell in love with it.
I have never played this game, nor XCom, or half the others on this channel. Despite that, this dude's attitude entertains me and I will continue to watch everything you release. Keep doing good work, Lemon. :)
I am so thankful you cover this game still, it’s helped me find new stuff so much
Loving your content so far Lemon! All tour challenge vids for this game made me want to play it, so bought it on steam earlier. Nit played it yet as I needed sleep. Wow I was just looking for a beginners guide and a non-fextralife wiki AND I'm familiar with your channel already from souls challenge runs. Perfectly targeted video.
As a chef who hasn't played this before. I'm playing a chef
I'm excited for you to discuss sanctuaries and converting them. That's a mechanic I never knew existed when I played the game, and only first heard about through watching your videos
Your challange runs are the only reason I have ever played Salt and Sanctuary and I am so greatful!
I'm still amazed by all you know of the game to make a wiki and inform us new players what could help us get into the game easier.
I LOVE YOU BACKLOGS. But seriously man your videos are always so fun, and i can already tell im gonna like this video!
Salt and Sanctuary content is what led me to this channel.
Had the physical copy of Salt and Sanctuary (for the Switch) for a while, watching your videos got me to sit down and play it after I burned myself out on DS3 waiting for Elden Ring.

A recent update to salt1 is making gore semi-toggleable. I dont think it turns off, but it turns down now!
No matter which game, even after hundreds hours of gameplay I still happy to see beginner's instructions
huh, just realized you never really made that follow up video to this- was kinda looking forward to it to.
I started salt and sanctuary a while ago but never finished, it's a really daunting and deep game. I look forward to the series!
This is amazing! I'm so excited for episode 2
8:55
WOLOLO!
Mani, is been a long time since I love heard THAT!
Thank you so much for this and the wiki Lemon!
It's on sale right now for 4.99 on PS4. Great timing for your video. After watching, I bought it to try it out. Wish me Luck. Great vid.
THANK YOU! I wanted to play but I didn't understand anything so this playlist will be a massive help thank you. Also I love your challenge runs and all your other videos
I've never even played this game, I just love your content and learning this stuff is fun.
My god, I just subscribed to you and legit for got that this game even existed. You might convince me to put a new wishlist item on steam.
Thanks for making this. Hope to see another one about navigating the Smile Village. Might get back into it
I recently bough salt and sanctuary because of you and am enjoying it.
This game is so much fun. When I started I had no idea what I was doing. But normally on this type of game, I like to pick a caster and then level them up to be more melee, so I can use a balance of both melee and magic.
I loved those guys , my favorite was Charlie murder , i loved that game just as much as i love this channel
Hey this is cool! Handy for someone like me who keeps getting dashed against the nearest rocks every few minutes...
Omg! I literally bought S&S because of your videos! But I gave up on it after barely playing because it was so so difficult
Really excited for this series, definitely want to give the game another try :) I know I would love it as much as I love the soulsbornes if I could just get a little better lol
This game always looked fascinating to me, dark souls esque combat but 2D so the navigating the world is less confusing which I struggle with
Salt and Sanctuary originally kept me occupied while I waited for Dark Souls 3 to release.
Now Elden Ring is keeping me occupied while I wait for Salt and Sacrifice to release.
For me it was Paladin and then pauper every run after that. The blank slate was awesome for building whatever clicked that run, and the spear heavy attack is decent for beating the prologue boss.
Nice guide
"If the idea of skills is confusing to you, don't worry, I'm not gonna tell you what they are"
Don't get me wrong, great video, just thought that was hilarious
Although I already 100%ed the game, looking forward to this guide mate!
This series might be useful for me because I’ve never beat salt and sanctuary and I started playing it on my channel to hopefully motivate me to beat it before salt and sacrifice comes out.
Beyond stoked for Salt and Sacrifice.
Surviving Salt And Sanctuary lives on!
Wow didn't know about that game, i'll put it in my wish list !
well i started my furst playthrough yesterday and saw the game has guns, i did just enough research to know to pick hunter and godess of light so i can get a gun early. then your video showed the hidden effects of guns, i like guns, so i use gun, mmhh gun
I always start with the chef class
First time creating my caracter i couldnt resist that cool hat
8:55 Thanks for reawakening my need to play AoE again.
6:35 - Well now I see where the Lemon avatar gets it’s design from
The lemon avatar gets it look from the elite knight armor from Dark Souls 1 darksouls.wiki.fextralife.com/Elite+Knight+Set
The armor in the video is from a mod, you can see it in the description
New upload, let’s gooo!
The Amber Idol is a surprisingly useless starting gift, since the only thing it does is save time. Bloated monstrosities drop them, and there's one right outside the Sanctuary where you get the earliest access to an Alchemist.
You are my favorite RUclipsr the games you play are all my favorite games 😂
This video is the reason I got this game and I'm in love with it i started playing co-op with a buddy the day i got it and we got 30 hours in 2 days because we can't stop playing thank you lemon!
I look forward to more tutorials for Salt and Sanctuary, im really new to it and its really confusing haha
Imagine the following: you only took the job because you had no other choice. A horrible storm came out of nowhere, and now you're stranded on an island and have to do the following: Can you beat every boss in S&S as a level 1 chef, no upgrades?
very well done homie, looking forward to more
Crystalmoat Ring doesn't increase your focus. It only reduce the effect of maximum stamina decreasing from fatigue. You can't cast prayers and spells more times by wearing this ring.
Te quiero mucho Backlogs, gracias por hacer mis dias entretenidos
The crystal sphere is a stone Alchemist for me tbh xD
Much like real life, your starting class and items can make the early game ridiculously easy or punishingly difficult.
Oh heck ya! New vid lets go
This game is great but a bit rough around the edges, especially some of the bosses and balance. That is what makes me most excited for the sequel, which will hopefully iron out the kinks and make it truly amazing
I need the next part 😂 I still feel so lost in the game
I got S&S on sale from your recommend and bounced off it. Been looking forward to these, but Idk when I'll get back to playing it with Elden Ring out.
Honestly surprised there’s no “potato only” challenge box yet
such an awesome gem of a game. sadly some of ur videos are live videos about sas.
Once i played as a hunter i never switch to another class man its so fun to blast enemied with a gun for parry and hit with a sword whip
Lemon's life advice
Thanks for more s&s videos
i bought salt and sanctuary because of your videos! Even tho Elden Ring is my main game currently, i dabble in this game on and off when i am too frustrated and need time off from Elden Ring. One question, how does dodging work in this game? Do you just phase through stuff or do you only have i frames?
Youve got s. Theyre pretty generous, so if you dodge in Elden Ring / soulsborne games, youll find it pretty easy.
So I was thinking about playing this game after watching your challenge run videos on it I was hoping you had more information on actually playing it
Super helpful thank you.
Paladin: Deus volt! (Enough said)
When I started play salt and sanctuary I picked chef because I liked the outfit and I did good despite not having very good stuff at the beginning
By the end of the game I became the iron chef
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the chef class also a reference to the character of the same name from Ska Studios previous games, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai and The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile?
Do you plan on doing elden ring challenge runs? If so... the dragon run. Only abilities you can use to deal damage are the incantations you buy with dragon hearts
coincidentally my first build i chose the grasping ring (knowing nothing about it or the game)... but i also chose the hunter so maybe ill redo it
Hey Lemon, awesome vid as always. Can you please tell me the name of the track you are using in the background? It reminds me of Nier and I love it.
It's just the character creation soundtrack from Dark Souls 1 haha
@@TheBacklogs Oh, didn't realize. Haha, thanks.
Thank you mr backroom
I haven't played this game yet but your videos in it are fascinsting. this is going to help a lot
I wish you would do more salt and sanctuary tutorials because I cannot find anything
Nice series
The title sounds like "How not to starve during character creation"
Just got this game a few days ago and I chose the hunter class not really knowing what I was doing and it made the first boss ridiculously hard for some reason. I fought vordt in ds3 16 times and he didn't even come close to the level of frustration sodden knight gave me. Still fun as hell to slap a bitch with a whip and then put a crossbow bolt in em tho.
Do a run where you have 100%+ armor and can't use the ring at the Village of smiles to roll faster
hehe that Dark Souls music
The Goat
🙌
it has been 3 months, aren't there going to be more video for this playlist ?
Yo where is our Elden Ring - firebombs only playthrough??
Will you continue your tutorial videos? That's helpfull for a beginner like me^^
Yep! Once life calms down a bit on my end I'll make the next episode, pinky promise, no take backs.
very helpful
Finish the game 3 times in 46 hours
You created a whole wiki? damn, that's attention and compromise with your audience! More content creators should be like you.
Remember when you wanted to release these videos together with the epic games gift newcomers?
It's been 6 months! Where #2?
