Hardest teardown ever I have made. The video contains two parts.
One teardown and the second is the assembly.
Please don't start with me. First, watch the first part completely and then start the teardown otherwise you will make mistake.

Those batteries should be user replaceable, without DESTROYING whole device.
I agree, my gen 5 is dead because of battery. I am not doing this so buying another. I am good to buy a new model, but now my old one is just e-waste and I can't even give it away.

I will never buy another smart watch again, the battery died after only two years and its not feasible to be repaired. Great video by the way!

Holly Molly dude, that was awesome! You are a very smart and patience person, I admire you. I have a somewhat similar watch (Fossil Q Explorist HR 0423) with a faulty battery too but I will not do any of that massive teardown and reassembly you've done there. My eyes are not that good anymore. Anyway, I've contacted Fossil and they wanted me to send it in to them for evaluation and possible, emphasis on "possible" repair for a fee. No can do, it is an old watch anyway. I'll just keep it in case anyone wants it for parts. Again, congrats, you are a super star!

I have a Fossil Q Venture, suddenly the hue turned brown, it goes to white when I don't touch it, but as soon as I "wake" it, the colors turn into a brown hue. Any idea why? I've reset it completely, no change.

Is there any reset process needed after replacing the battery? I have one that went out completely and I figured it was a dead battery, but found it was at about 3.56V when I opened it up and measured it.
Charged it offline to 4V and plugged all the connectors back in, but it's still dead to the world, no display or anything shows up.
Reset we can do once it is switched on... I think issue is something else, maybe main board
@@diyeasy_in it may be defective, seemed to go bad once the battery was allowed to get too low, and it corrupted itself as a result.

The Gen 4 and 5 use the same battery. It's a APP00296 battery

@@diyeasy_in I was able to find an another one that looked similar but I'm not sure if the pine layout is the same. I was wondering to myself if I could cut the terminals with the board and ribbon intact of my original battery and transfer it to a better one. In power saving, I'm getting 3 hours.
Before buying, please check the dimensions that will fit in your watch. You can extract the board from old one and can put it in new one, but it highly risky, and you should have some electronic knowledge... Like soldering.
If you don't have those knowledge plz check with any guy who know....
I also cant find that battery. I found app00169, 222 and 306. Do u know any of these will do? I know i have to use the pcb from my battery but is no issue. I just cant find any info on the cell size. Im afraid it wont fit. Also 306 is the only with the exact same specs as 286
@@peabutt38 In all honesty idk if my watch battery is in the same condition as yours, but I learned that the battery is too small for the watch to have all the features on all day. I managed to getting a 1 and 14 hours before mine dies and that's because my Bluetooth is on during the time I would usually put it on using the custom power saving mode. Also my screen is off until I press a button. Things like location and wifi are off until I put it to charge. try to tune off the animations the make you processor work harder burning though that precious power. Hopefully that can be useful to you.

I have some trouble that I crack crown sensor because i try to press hrad power button (in fossil gen 3 is same power button position ) I can still scroll the crown but cannot press it .
