The best drama by far. Superb acting, superb casting, some superb cinematography, probably the best soundtrack Why it is the best is simple: the script. A genius writer who in CLOY produced more memorable scenes than the next dozen dramas combined. Her script inspired the cast, the film crews and even the investors since it must have been expensive to film. It is the subtle writing - simple words expressing deep ideas - I'm reminded of Nora Ephron, Jane Austen & Shakespeare. I've seen nothing that so rewards rewatching. Switch on at any point and you are soon captivated. Watch carefully from the beginning to the end and you keep making discoveries. A book could be written about the many bits that don't work - for example the fall from the tree into his arms - the script was great but that bit deserved re-filming. It doesn't matter since the good bits are just so good and so frequent. Read Shakespeare's great plays - they contain weak scenes (usually the humour) but his fame is deserved The quality of CLOY is seen in the detail - for example where he rows her up steam in a broad river at night; there are no words between our two leads and it lasts just a few seconds. It must have cost money to film. It merely sets the mood but the word merely is wrong - it is a genius scriptwriter at work.
