- Céline singing the Canadian national anthem to open a hockey game.
She sang "O Canada" just after singing "The star splangled banner" and before being interviewed by Jean Page. I wish I could find a video of all this and not just an extract... Hope you enjoy it anyway :)

Even though I am an Anglophone from the USA. I think the french version sounds better. I have traveled cross Canada been to 8 out of the 13 provinces/territories. Got friends in Quebec, Ontario, Nunavut, and Nova Scotia.

Of all the live versions, this one is the best I've heard: no orchestrations, no padding the mic to the crowds or other gimmicks... her vocals are the instruments!

O Canada was indeed meant to be sung in French: the French version was the original version. It was written in 1880 whilst the English translation only came around in 1906.
O Canada, was actually based on (or inspired by) Mozart's March of the Priests from "the Magic Flute".
The truth of the matter is whether or not one likes her style, she can sing the phonebook and make it sound good. Ridiculously talented.

warkaa 30,1% of people in Canada are french-Canadian (2011). it's close to 1/3 of the Canadian population. It is not true that French is not widely spoken in Canada.

Compliments to the poster of this Celine recording! Love it, and the pictures are wonderful - many of them are relatives we have never met from Canada! My Grandfather's family came from French Canada, also Tanguay's and directly related to Celine's Mom and her family. Our youngest daughter posts her voice (also great like Celine's) on RUclips - Joannalaurensings RUclips! She also is asked to Sing the National and Canadian Anthem at many large singing events including twice now for the Detroit Red Wings! Enjoy!
I've managed to ignore every song that she has sung even My Heart Goes On, this is the only song from Celine Dion that doesn't go just from one ear to the other ear

Well, it was originally written in French by Calixa Lavallée. Hence why it seems to flow better in French.

At our school everyday they play a different version of the song French or English and since we have French first we half to sing that version in French
They still use this version all the time at school
