- Flickering screen in this video is due to the camera, in real life the screen does not flicker.
Recent design changes:
- Revision 4 printed circuit board design.
- New 2 channel 600 pulse per channel incremental rotation encoder for more responsive trompette sound.
- S shaped handle.
- Smaller crank knob more in-keeping with those of regular gurdys.
- MIDI-in socket. Can be used in the future for accessories such as a pedal box.
- New logo which is identical when viewed from above or below - thank you Billy Amateo.
- All buttons user programmable from a large range of menu options including the large one.
- Blue LED that flashes with each trompette buzz.
Very impressive, never before thought that a gurdy could be midi-fied
Obsessed with hurdy-gurdy for years. This electronic version instrument is perfect and encourages me to step forward. A must-buy stuff on my wishlist.
This is exactly what I was looking for! Will have to pick one up when I visit my sister in London. Incredibly versatile hurdy gurdy!!

Some people do have them plugged into amps. I do not have any video though.
Just found out about this project and this instrument and I think it is one of the best things ever. Are you gonna add turning velocity to midi channel velocity to control sound output level? Does the velocity at which you turn matter in anyway right now? Do you plan on producing them for a bit longer? As i'm afraid I won't have money the coming year but would be glad to order one next year
Cranking speed does have a small effect on volume but we have kept it quite subtle. If too pronounced you get a strange effect as if the sound is rushing towards you and away again :) I am still making them.
Is it compatible with android ?
Yes you can use it with an app called FluidSynth MIDI from Google Play store. However, the bs-16i app on an iPad is nice as each channel is laid out for you on the screen with a volume slider control for each string or sound.
