I have personally experienced this when the clutch rusted up from moisture and sitting. Usually breaks loose after a few starts like you did in reverse or in a forward gear. Could trying having someone tow you as you hold the clutch in, stop and go try different gears.
One of the things I miss about Radio Shack not being around is if you need a resistor on the weekend you could just run up to Radio shack and grab whatever you needed.Good thing you had Nick to help with that BCM. Clutch probably got rusted up with the flood water. If you have pressure at the pedal verify the slave cylinder is moving. If so the clutch in the bell housing isn't disengaging probably from rusting from the flood water. Doubtful water got into the trans but easiest way to find out is drain the trans oil. Good luck AL!
hey Al the clutch plate and the flywheel have suck together cause of the saltwater, you can sometimes shock them apart tho if its salt water you'll probably have to have the clutch apart. I don't think its gearbox, just the clutch and flywheel. the fact that the clutch isn't releasing could also be like you say it needing a flush so try that first, tho I think its my first suggestion, which isn't too involved you just have to drop the gear box so you can access the flywheel. Oh...Also get a new camera....even if its just for filming UFO's...Amazing...oh OFO...what the hell is that...Anyway, the security light is still on which means the BCM is ok...Hilarious...Oh...there's Elvis...Anyway, I just bled the brakes and....LOL...Great as always!!
Clutch plate has fused to the flywheel and makes logical sense given its a flood vehicle. Jack up the rear of the car so the drive wheel can freely spin, and when its raised up, have someone start the car in gear so the drive wheel is spinning. Then drop the car back onto the pavement abruptly with the wheel spinning (be careful)....should break it free. I've had this happen few times with old british cars that have sat for years and this has freed up the clutch plate to flywheel.
THANKS for getting part 2 up so quick. It's a bonus weekend.. saw the Randy visit yesterday, then you post this! You were cool with Randy and the subscriber, which just proves what a nice guy you are. I luvs me the GM products, and if I had room, I'd be hoarding it up. Lol.
Had the same issue that's common with most older manual vehicles. It's either 1. Water in transmission or 2. You need a new slave cylinder. Or 3. Throw out bearing is not letting clutch disengage so the pedal is useless. Itll also move freely either way while it's off cuz the engine is not spinning so there's no resistance.
That shows the clutch is good. Just not releasing. Drive it rev match it to change gear get it some heat into it with high revs and it will start working. Done it many times over the years. I'm from a country that have mostly manual cars.
My 2002 Express 3500 had an issue like this. The ECM on those is under the hood on the driver's side, down on the inner fender. Well, road salt, it got a hole corroded in the metal case. When dry it ran fine. But after a windy, rainy day it would not run, then when it did run did all kinds of strange things. Water was getting inside the case. Solution was to replace it.

You can try pumping the clutch like you are bleeding the brakes and see if it gets better. More than likely the clutch is rusted to the flywheel though. If it’s not bad, a couple starts like you did with Anthony will pop it off there. Good luck! Sweet Blazer, esp with the manual trans!
I'm a simple man with a special place for S10 Blazer's and when BigAL uploads a video of getting one running I hit that like button without a second thought..it being a manual transmission is even better..but when it is in the red color like my S10 I had then the video is totally awesome! I only have one question..what ever happened to the GMC Yukon you bought? would be great to get an update video of all the projects growing at BIgAL's field of cars that seem to be growing like rabbits..keep up the good work AL..liking these videos you been putting out there!
Good to see the Blazer up and running Al, as others have said the issues will be clutch rather than transmission related. Although being the GM master, I'm sure you can sort it either way!
It’s 1000% a rusted clutch to flywheel from the flood. You should be able to shock it free as others have wrote without removing the transmission… 40% of the time it works every time.
Happens on this side of the pond al, a clean out lots of hammering and a good run should do it and plenty of lube on the bushings and linkages and then sell it. Easy job.
Came from randy I like what ur doing. Ide personally do all new fly wheel clutch throw out bearing slave etc lol. I mean gotta come all apart any how bro.
Get some space around you and start it in gear get some speed going and hold the clutch and stab the brakes or the gas or a combo of both and that will free up your clutch
I'm going with what others have said. Get some help and put the truck in gear, hold the clutch pedal down and have somebody pull you with a tow strap. Stop and go, hopefully it will break free
Sounds smooth Big AL 💯, vortec is extremely healthy. Your in profit with just the motor alone bro. Wish I had helpful info ( sorry) all of my blazers were auto's . I have helped with clutch replacement & it's easy to pull the transmission if need be. Easy fix & cheap parts , you will be driving in no time AL 🤞. It's a score IMO 🎬🚘👍
Last Blazer I had like this was doing the same thing. We pulled the trans down, swapped in a new clutch kit, Master & Slave Cylinder and she’s running like a champ. Knocked it out in a day as we had to take time for some cold snacks.
Not a mechanic, but it it seems like the issue is that the clutch is not disengaging. The engine starts because the clutch interlock is tied to how far you press the clutch pedal down, not the actual disengagement of the clutch. If you agree, time to look for reasons why the clutch might not disengage. Protip: on GMT325/330s, unlike some more modern manual transmission cars, the clutch switch has only a single point of contact, which implicates the cancellation of the cruise control. Tap the brakes (enough for the brake lamps to illuminate), and cruise control gets cancelled. But if you press the clutch, the cancellation won't happen until the clutch bottoms out and (normally) is completely disengaged, and the engine is screaming its guts out because the cruise control is still trying to maintain speed.
My 03 s10 pickup has made me appreciate Chevy more. I'm more of a Ford truck and SUV fan. The s10 has the same 4.3 vortec with automatic. Great vehicle with 110k miles on it
I’m not a mechanic, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night. Even though I’m not a mechanic, I’ll bet everything I own that the clutch is rust welded to the flywheel. The clutch is hydraulic, that’s why it moved. You should remove the trans and flush the fluid because FLOOD. Replace the clutch and pressure plate, clutch slave and the pilot bearing because FLOOD, have the flywheel resurfaced or replace it. You should have changed ALL of the fluids after you drug it home. It is a perfect LS swap candidate. I have a LS2 and a 6speed begging for some action!
@@bigalsbikeandauto Islamorada / Tavernier. I just bought back my grandfather's 67' Impala and am going to start a channel documenting the restoration.
Sounds like clutch plate is rusted/stuck to the flywheel.. If you have a good clear area to run it around in (obviously not on the road!) try to start it in gear, keep your foot on the clutch, let it build up some speed, and then jab on the brakes a few times... hopefully the sudden impact of the brakes being applied will break the clutch plate free from the flywheel
Clutch plate stuck, Transmission out replace clutch kit and release bearing resurface the flywheel. Then you are golden. Nothing wrong with trans only replace oil
I would say the transmission itself is not tore up because it shouldn't come in and out a neutron go into gears without an issue if you can start it in gear and it takes off then it should be just fine I would say your clutch is either stuck on the inside on the pressure plates or your clutch slave cylinder is not working right and it could have water in it if you can get it out and drive it and year and let it run around sometimes the clutch this will come free and free up from getting in the water I am going to tell you I think it will need a new throwout bearings and that could be froze on the shaft to

Slave cylinder needs to be bled and is not allowing the throw to disengage the clutch or the clutch disk is stuck to the fly wheel if it still stays in gauged while the clutch is depressed after bleeding try starting while in third gear with the clutch pedal depressed and let it roll with the clutch pedal depressed then hit the brakes keeping clutch pedal depressed throughout the whole sequence so long as the throw of the slave cylinder is disengaging the pressure plate from the clutch and flywheel it should release it may chatter in this process try this fist if this doesn't work you'll have to drop transmission and replace the clutch but remember that the clutch disk is more than likely stuck to spines on the input shaft that will in turn make it difficult to separate the transmission from the engine don't give up try these procedures and you should be able to get the disk free from the flywheel
