These are some beautiful pieces; love the cave walls and crystals...super-versatile for so many adventures from AD&D and forward to the present: “Keep on the Borderlands”, “Against the Giants”, “Rime of the Frostmaiden”, etc. Wow!
That`s a realy nifty idea, with the magnets and the way they are "distributed". So much possible combinations! And the crystal is looking really neat - good idea, with the the two-colour-approach, i dig it! Cheers Buddy!
Thanks buddy, The silicone moulds for the crystals can be found on eBay if you're interested, and CFS epoxy resin can be tinted with just normal paint 👍🏻😬
I fully agree with Jakub M. This is definitely the coolest modular cave system Ive seen. Will definitely be making a set of these!! I really enjoy your channel and look forward to each episode!!
Nice builds, love the "jigsaw" style of connection, simple but effective. From experience I can say you made the right move not spreading the texture paint with your finger, it did leave me with soft hands after mind you lol.
Very Nice! Those diagonal slashes look great. You could add some gold or silver metallic paint (lots of colors really) to simulate veins of ore running through the rock. Might distract greedy PCs while the cave bear sneaks up on them.
Alan, these are cool. I really like their modularity and your use of tiny magnets. I use them in my builds too from time to time. I like these cave pieces much better than cave tiles since they seem much more flexible. Cheers, --Bo
Thanks mate 👍🏻 I feel like caves are much more diverse (rather than dungeons) in terms of space and shape and they required a new way of creating them 🙂
@@irongryphon isn't that the truth :D probably going to use them for space ship corridors too. the crystals you made gave me an idea for doing sci-fi cloning vats too green-yellow-green cylinders with maybe flouting skellies :/ i always get inspiration from your builds :)
Fantastic way to create a cave!! A suggestion to save on magnets would be to replace one orientation of the magnest (say the south ones) and instead use thin washers or bits of baked bean cans (file/sand the edges)c
You can buy them in bulk on eBay, and since they need to be small in this project they're pretty cheap 🙂 And thank you kindly 😁 I appreciate you taking the time to watch
What a clever idea! These turned out fantastic! Those crystals 😍 I was worried for a minute there wouldn’t be moss....should’ve known better 😂 Edit : you could make various little end caps (crystals, mushrooms, oozey things) with a bit of metal on the bottom to put on the ends of any that end up not connected to another bit.
Practical indeed! Fantastic project and outcome. Highly versatile. Do you put a drop of detergent (or flow improver) in your homemade wash? One little tip ... look at the camera lens more, and less at the display screen. :)
Haha you're onto me 😅 I find it so hard to look at the camera lens. And no I don't put any detergent in the wash, I made it without and found that it was perfectly adequate, though I've heard of people doing that to improve the flow
Very cool take on cave terrain. It might not be the optimal arrangement for playing, but it looked especially impressive when stacked, as it was behind you at the end. I hope next episode you’ll find something aesthetically appropriate for the tops of each piece. There’s a ton of opportunity to take advantage of that space. Cheers! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you 🙂 I think I'll keep the tops and bottoms clear, as practical walls (whether cave or dungeon) need only to be implied and I like having the blacked out "negative space". But there's nothing stopping anyone from modifying my design to suit their own preferences 🙂
@@irongryphon I hear you-you know best, and keeping them flat allows the verticality I had just purported to ❤️. You implied there was more to come on the cave topic-I guess I’m trying to anticipate what’s on the horizon. There’s always the 98% chance I misheard you. My second hope is, of course, skulls and 🕯 🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯!! Great job-make more videos!!!!
I most certainly don't know best 😅 but thank you for thinking that. There is indeed more to come, I'll post the rest next week with a few bits and pieces to decorate the interiors of caves 😊
This is my absolute favorite channel for dungeon terrain and its creation. Every single video is presented perfectly.
That's very kind of you to say so, I'm glad you're enjoying them, and hoping getting inspired to create some cool terrain 👍🏻😀
Caves and Caverns?!!!! I love it!!!!!
Thanks stay tuned for part 2 🙂👍🏻
@@irongryphon Will do!
Clever idea for interconnecting the walls.
Thanks 😬👍🏻 it's a simple but effective Method
Very cool. Magnetizing the cavern walls is a great idea. The Crystals look so awesome.
Thanks very much 👍🏻🙂 love some magnets

Thank you 🙂 making terrain modular is key for me, and having it suitable for many different adventures just makes it even more cost effective 👍🏻
Love to see new and useful ideas like yours. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for watching 👍🏻🙂
thank you for continuing to make videos! i really enjoy them and you inspire me so much
Cheers dude, And thank you for watching them 🙂👍🏻
Magnets on terrain....yes why didn't i think of that.. very nice. Good work!
Magnets are basically magic 😅 and those ones were fairly cheap too 👍🏻😬 thanks for watching
Awesome idea for modular walls, very cool!
Cheers dude 👍🏻😀 the magnets allow for many angles and orientations
This is perfect for the cave portion of the terrain I'm currently building! Well done system for pretty much any level builder.
Thanks very much, Super easy to make and easier to store if you have little space (like me👀)

Thanks so much 🙂 they're also easy to store and you honestly won't need too many to create a convincing cave system
@@irongryphon Cheers!!
I can't stop watching your videos! I just found your channel and I love it! You're an amazing and super creative creator.
Aww thank you so much, that's very kind of you to say. Keep watching them, I appreciate it alot 😬 and I'm always grateful for the feedback
The little end cap pieces for the walls is ingenious
Haha thanks, I felt the magnets were a little unsightly 😅👍🏻
Nice builds, love the "jigsaw" style of connection, simple but effective. From experience I can say you made the right move not spreading the texture paint with your finger, it did leave me with soft hands after mind you lol.
😅 it's just an unpleasant feeling spreading gritty paste around.
Simple And effective is my jam. Thank you for watching😅
Seeing you rearrange the walls into different shapes at the end was so satisfying, and it's amazing how natural they looked
Cheers 🙂 I figured it was important to show how easily the walls could be used and how versatile they can be
Thanks for sharing your techniques!!
You're Very welcome buddy 👍🏻🙂
Looks good, and playable! nice job
Playable and modularity is key in this hobby, often at the expense of realism but for many it's a perfectly reasonable substitute 🙂👍🏻
Very Nice! Those diagonal slashes look great. You could add some gold or silver metallic paint (lots of colors really) to simulate veins of ore running through the rock. Might distract greedy PCs while the cave bear sneaks up on them.
Haha you absolutely could 😅 and leave a pickaxe lying around for some impromptu mining
Awesome stuff. Love the videos. Really inspirational.

I love the designs for your wall system. I need to try this at one stage.
Thanks dude, let me know how it turns out 🙂👍🏻
@@irongryphon No worries.
Nice! I've got some flexible walls, but they're pegged together; no magnets. Yours are super cool. The crystals also look great
Thanks very much 👍🏻🙂 yeah I'm sure there's a few decent methods for connecting walls, but I love magnets 😅 they're basically magic

best cave set by far, i'll be using your example when i get round to making my own :D

Oh I've had the same idea myself 😅 about the giant vats of weird liquid with things suspended in it 😬
That's so cool!!! :3

You could indeed, though I found that two magnets held much more securely than a magnet+washer
Thanks for the comment 👍🏻🙂 and thanks for watching

I made a couple of end caps that just finish off the wall, but yeah you're right, I could make a slightly more interesting design 🙂👍🏻
This is by far the coolest modular cave tile system I've seen so far! Also, how do you prevent the superglue from melting your foam?
The foam gets an undercoat of black paint and matte mod podge, the mod podge is the key. It seals and protects foam really well.
Practical indeed! Fantastic project and outcome. Highly versatile. Do you put a drop of detergent (or flow improver) in your homemade wash? One little tip ... look at the camera lens more, and less at the display screen. :)
