    Good lesson, thank you. I finally came to the end of the road with my old Photoshop and Lightroom non subscription versions when I changed computers this week. I hate the Adobe subscription model, it's expensive and it doesn't suit my needs any more (I'm an ex professional photographer, still like taking pics but I'm not going to pay Adobe prices). I was worried about managing and processing RAW files without Lightroom, but Darktable looks really good and not too daunting to learn. I'm now using Affinity and Darktable, both excellent programs, one free and one extremely reasonably priced. Thanks to all the people that put Darktable together and continue to improve it, you are doing a brilliant job.

      I agree, the music is distracting. I think it's because the melody is in the same frequency area as your voice. If you got some cool tones that are deeper it properly won't be distracting. It is distracting because it makes it more challenging than necessary to hear your voice :)

    Hallo Rico, Wederom dank voor deze uitleg, top!
    2 vraagjes:
    * Bij mij staat, als ik een raw-foto importeer, de "history stack" al gevuld met een 8-tal items. Deze kan ik ook niet verwijderen. Enig idee wat hieraan te doen of waardoor dit komt?
    * De 'groups' aan de rechterzijde zijn anders van inhoud dan bij jou ... moet ik deze nog zelf vullen?
    Dank alvast voor de reactie & keep up the good work!

    • @RicoResolves
      @RicoResolves  4 года назад +1

      Goede vragen! De history stack kan je niet (meer) volledig ongedaan maken. Wel kan je op orientation staan en dan op "compress history stack" drukken zodat je begint zonder base curve. De inhoud rechts kan anders zijn omdat je andere modules in je favorites hebt. Als je in de group menus kijkt dat vindt je meer modules terug. Dit kan je ook doen door rechtsonderin op: "more modules" te klikken. Daar vind je meer modules.

    I want to add watermarks on my images. I know how to add watermark in darktable, and I have SVG file prepared, but there is an issue. Watermark does not look good on every picture. Hey Rico, thanks for your videos. I'm just getting started with darktable and its a huge help to see it used before jumping in.
    One thing that's bugging me is that in my copy of Darktable (2.6.2) all the interface elements are really large.
    This includes interface text, images/icons, modules, the entire top bar including the Darktable logo.
    It makes everything feel bloated. One good example of this is the text "lighttable | darkroom | other". On your screen that all fits neatly within the space of the right column, but on my screen the text is so large that "lighttable" is in the middle section. (I hope that makes sense)
    My theories why it looks so much better on your screen are 1) my screen size is 15" perhaps on larger screens the text size is the same so it takes up a smaller percentage of space, 2) I'm using the Mac version, perhaps the Mac version just looks bloated for some reason, or 3) there may be settings that I've not found that make the interface elements smaller?
    Do you have any thoughts or ideas to reduce the interface size?

    • @RicoResolves
      @RicoResolves  5 лет назад

      Hello Benk, thank you for your question. What's the resolution of your monitor? My "view" is the same with the 15,6" laptop screen as is it with my 27" 4k monitor. Hi Rico! Amazing resource for those who wants to start using darktable.
    I'm shifting from lightroom because of their absurd subscription pricing and it seems like darktable is just as capable to do what I need.
    One question I have tho is that when I bring in photos to lightroom, the color, contrast, sharpness is all applied basically mimics the jpeg version of the photo. But when I use darktable, the raw photo imported seems flat.
    Is this because darktable imports the true raw form of the photo taken?

    • @RicoResolves
      @RicoResolves  5 лет назад +1

      Great to see you here Gabriel, and great to hear you're making the switch! I truly hope darktable will cover everything you need! Darktable imports true RAW files and adds a base curve when it recognizes your camera. Usually the layers are: 1. Original, 2. Orientation and 3. Base curve. For the RAW file in its truest form, you can click the first history. Since you're switching over from Lightroom, have a look at this video and let me know if that helped you get started too: ruclips.net/video/1FCcYbMEV0k/видео.html
