No way dude. These are one of those godly videos you came across ever so often which is just really simple but extremely helpful. I knew there was an easy way to do this. Thank you so much for this!
I will record Kevin's voice instead of music. Your voice is just so clear and easy to understand. Audacity and OBS are probably the best free apps out there that do almost everything you want it to do. The only Window that I will never close is the Windows operating system. Great video.
Lifesaver!!! Amazing. First option worked. Didn't have "voice recorder" application but I do have "audacity". Put headphones on and voila! Magnificent! Thank you!
Stunning Thumbnail Kevin! I thought this needed third-party software, to record the audio then import the audio, and trimming it to get the final result. But you've made it so easy! Enjoyed the video, thank you so much, Kevin!
Thanks Kevin. I installed Audacity on my system years ago but forgot how to use it. I was almost going to uninstall it a few months ago but thank god i waited for a bit! Seeing this your video i made my first recording with Audacity! Tnx
Configuring StereoMix on Windows 10 looks completely different on my PC than shown here. Your tutorials are excellent so I hate to ask you to do more work. While most of us are sticking with or can't upgrade to Win11 we need both the Win10 and Win11 versions when changes need to be made using Setings. Keep up the excellent tutorials, always clear and easy to follow. Thanks.
Neil Muller I was considering saying the same thing. I really appreciate Kevin's work! But ... finding these features within these two operating systems is a completely different experience for me as well, as I am also on Windows 10 still.
@@tyrant351 Well... If it's like a job for the video's creator, sure. But most of time people are doing such things just because they want/like, so in the end it's *us* that should search in another place. I'm sure there are other videos in Windows 10 or even 7 if it's the case, or even text explanation.
Many thanks, Kevin - you are a lifesaver. I downloaded a third party program which had no guidance on how to record! You made it simple to do with Windows itself!
I did try your first suggestion before but I did not get the sound. I watched your video and now IT WORKS. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Thank you for such clear explanations too. Some YTers jump around and it is hard to follow.
Opting for audacity as the sound card configuration on windows I was on at the time didnt support the first option and settled on that. Audacity is a fantastic tool as is this video a brilliant one. Thanks for your excellent contributions to the interwebs Kevin, your a star.
This is FANTASTIC!! I already had Audacity on my system and I went with that. I have videos that people have sent me where they are really just people talking. I want to be able to listen while I walk the dogs and now I can. Thank you SOOOOOOOO much!!!
Whenever I have a problem or need to accomplish something on my computer, you always come up with a solution! I really appreciate your help, Kevin, and thank you for sharing such a helpful video.
Wow, Thanks a ton. I was looking for how to record just the audio of a RUclips video other than downloading and trimming and you have given me three of the best approaches, Kevin. I know about Audacity and I have watched your tutorial but I haven't downloaded it yet. I didn't know about VB audio at all. Thanks again and I'm also wrapping up on this comment.
Thank you. Been having the worst time trying got make stereo mix work on new Windows 11 device. Installed Realtek codec which fixed the issue but this then stopped my headphones from working properly. This is a nice simple work-around.
Your voice is sick. Never heard anyone's voice more clearer and understandable. Awesome! Thank you so much for all the videos you share, especially your tutorials. You are one awesome person!
Thank you very much! i was able to resolve the problem of not recording my laptop audio. i thought i needed to troubleshoot. and your voice is very clear when i test recorded.Thank you! :)
Great video. I used the method for recording RUclips audio using Audacity and it worked perfectly. I have been looking for how to do this for a long time. Your video is easy to understand. Thanks for doing this.
I was knowing two of them but never heard of VB-Audio, it's also a good alternative. Thanks for the video + amazing thumbnail. Well, please make a video on thumbnail editing i.e, photo editing :-)
Love your work Kevin. But in this instance I still have no idea as to how to record my mobile phone call on my pc as your video suggests. Thanx for your fantastic tutorials!
Thanks so much. The steps in the first 2 minutes solved it for me. I have an old program recording (Cool Edit 2000) and it connected so easily once you told me what to do.
Finally sound recording worked just fine before. Then one nope. Thank you so much for this video. It’s always something simple but finding the on button to tech is hard for me, so yeah.
The first technique is missing an important step: 1. Go to the bottom-right corner of the icon tray. 2. Right-click the sound icon. 3. A menu will pop out. Choose Sounds 4. Go to the Recording tab 5. Right click on "Stereo Mix" and click on "Set as Default Communication Device" 6. Click on "Ok" After doing this, recording worked on my Windows 10 machine
Thanks for another great video. I have tried the first to methods. Works very well. But the volume of the sound is much lower than what I am hearing while recording the sound. I have set the stereo mix volume to 100%
None of the solutions allow you to record both other party's zoom meeting voice nor your voice at the same time if you are using headphones. Without using speakers and only with headphones, how can you record both voices?
Very disappointed with the first option (my windows 7 looks %1000.5 different. Very grateful and happy with the second option. I had audacity and even tried it before finding your video and had no idea how to use it. Thank you!! Subbed, commented and liked

Option 2 (Audacity) worked just fine. I still run Windows 10, but all that you described was there. Many thanks, again.

But if you use Obs it'll convert into a clip where sound is played so it isn't actually a recording?

With a mixer that supports ‘mix minus’ so the voices don’t repeat against each other..
