To me there's nothing like figuring out better ways of doing things. Yall realize how much safer ,faster and easier this is than trying to push mow it by hand? Hats off to this guy.
Back in the 80s there was something called the Noma flymo. Lol. I'm sure they stopped that for liability issues but would be fun. Anyone have or try those? Even remember them? (I think it had no wheels and floated like a hovercraft ,but I could be wrong. Edit: this got me down a rabbit 🐰 hole. Flymo. Huskavarna made them or acquired US rights in 90s. Didn't sell well. As a Navy Seabee, our motto is “Adapt and overcome. Can Do. “. This is brilliant. And I humbly appreciate the way you videoed it all. I can build this just because of what you showed. Thanks and happy mowing
One thing I've learned in life their haters everywhere this dude is a genius in his own things he does everyone else is just hating it should all be thumbs up I'd rather ride instead of push any day
Positively genius. THIS is what folk should be doing in their garage/shed on rainy days and wintertime. The Greatest Generation was chock full of inventors/ problem solvers. I miss them.....
Love this idea. When I was a kid, living in Ohio, we had a small 4acre farm. The front lawn was about 1 acre. Before we got a bigger riding mower, my dad rigged a 20" walk behind mower offset behind, on each side, so it cut an 80" path each trip. Sure got a lot of folks slowing down as they drove by.
I pass a house where a older guy cuts his 20 acres like this. he has 8 push mowers linked together in a line creating a 12 foot cut. I must try this method my hills are killing me mowing every 3rd day!
You could have left it natural with woods and bushes and streams and wildlife. If you aren't actively using it for growing crops, there is no reason the land needs to stay clearcut and deforested as the settlers did!
@@johnlafever3162You don't live out in the boondocks do you? If we take your suggestion we will have more mice, snakes, groundhogs, coyotes, and deer......which like to jump out in front of my car when I'm 20 feet from my driveway and totally not expecting it 😂
@@darksu6947 you sound scared to live out in the wild! Maybe you'd be better off in the suburbs with a small rock covered yard. You could even get yourself a white picket fence to help feel a little more secure marking out your boundaries! I don't understand at all how or why you call yourself a boondock boy and yet you hate it so much you clear cut it to make sure that yucky nature stuff backs off! Nobody said it wasn't reasonable to have a buffer area in most areas, for fire control, and scary wildlife control, but 40 acres, 100 acres, 160 acres? No one needs more than an acre at most. Two acres if you have a shop and yard, which is what I have.
Very ingenious!! I can't tell you how I had to bust my butt cutting hillsides alot steeper than this and all by hand when working on golf courses. BRUTAL STUFF!! Slid downhill a couple of times but never went under the mower, thank God!! I'm old now and can't do that stuff anymore. But if I ever have to cut a hillside again, I will definitely keep this in mind!! This looks like a "system" that could be, and SHOULD be patented, manufactured and sold!! Good job!👍
Great ingenuity and engineering. There must be an incredible amount of side load imposed on that riding mower though, heavy wear would logically seem to be inevitable
Awesome. Give a determined man a few minutes and some tools and he'll figure out how to do damn near anything a better, easier way. This reminds me of my folks. We were farmers. And if you've ever been around farming families you know they have to be creative, determined, resourceful and a little bit nutty to survive.
Nice job. 👍🏽👍🏽 I love the belly wheels, I’m going to try this on my set up. The wheels digging in and the stress that creates has always been a problem for me.
That's what I needed to cut really steep banks. Usually with my particular rider, I would just climb off it while in gear still moving and just walk beside it cutting the bank i.e, banks a little less steep than yours, because it would be too top heavy with me on it. My first thought with your set up was the long polls would flex too much, but I didn't see that happening.
I have a idea for you if you ever build another unit. How about making the arms adjustable. Like the legs on a pair of crutches, where you could just pull the pins out of both tug arms and slide it down to the next pin hole, the width of your deck. Nice invention! I don't call my shop a shop I call it my lab, because there is no telling what I'm gonna come up with next!
Great idea but no footage of you turning around and the extra room it would take to do so. If you have tons of space it would be useful if not, a gang mower would be a better idea.
I'm going to take a guess here and assume he backs up and adjust his next pass by moving a bit further out into the driveway and continue on repeating.
Beautiful! I love it! Not only a great idea, excellent execution! congratulations! ❤️. if I can ever finish my other thousand projects I would like to build one of these myself.
Don't forget you need your basic aluminum mig welder spool gun and aluminum gas bottle for your Miller wire feed to weld the aluminum bracketry and booms.
I did notice he used aluminum it looked like. That being said, there's nothing he did with aluminum that I couldn't do with steel, and using a regular arc welder and welding rods is pretty cheap.
Forgot to mention “X” cables but hey this is great! My grandma back in the day just tied rope to the handle bar mounts at the deck and just lowered it over the bank and pull it back up. You’d want to keep it short all the time with that method.
That is a good idea! Except, my dad mowed a hill in front of house and buried up , I don’t remember how many mowers. A tilted mower will not oil properly!
To me there's nothing like figuring out better ways of doing things. Yall realize how much safer ,faster and easier this is than trying to push mow it by hand? Hats off to this guy.
more like seeing someone else do it and copying
Dam dude , whoever you are, your a nice old CHEVY , good lookin profile pic lol
Great job!!!
Easier on your feet and ankles also .

This man is a genius he just might be saving your back and making life a little easier. Thank you sir for sharing your video.
The beauty in this is the simplicity. He didn’t overthink it or add unnecessary components.
Necessity is the mother of invention, and you sir, are the father. Amazing! 👏👏👏👏👍
Creativity and common sense at it's best.

American ingenuity at its finest all in the name to make my life easier 😆
I like the carby is angled so it runs OK on a slope.

Well thought out solution. Most folks forget about thud oil pickup, and carb.
Invention is the mother of necessity, quick patent that thing 👍
Other way around….Necessity is the mother of invention ….but yeah 👍
He didn't invent that.
@@drink15 . I see industrial versions mowing along the freeways all the time
@@drink15 I think he did. I've never seen one exactly like it. Have you ?
@@BAAcic yup, that’s how they mow grass on the side of the highway if there is a hill. Just a more refined industrial style.
Whoever built this for him did well.

Make the tuggers telescopic so you can mow ditches also. Very cool. 👌
Excellent job fella!! Work smarter not harder at its finest!!
That thing is mad mechanic cool, well done. Thanks

Correct. The steering gears get replaced at the end of every season.
Good old American ingenuity. Nice work!
Also, keep the bank mower as light as possible! That's why the angle brackets are made out of aluminum.
That's so cool! great idea for more safer mowing.
Wonderful idea. My compliments to "Mr. Scott" ha ha.
You sir are an engineer, im a small engine mechanic and all I can give you is a standing slow clap.
Awesome idea ! Love it !!!!!! Just might try to upgrade it a tad . Will let you know the outcome !
That's awesome. Congrats on creating something that makes your life easier.

I like the chains on the tractor. This project is cool. The upgrade is an electric lawnmower.
Good engineering.
very good thinking and it also would weigh less

Remarkable way at solving an old problem.
Necessity is the mother of Invention. Great way to get the job done.
Hank Hill would shed a tear if he bore witness to your ingenuity good sir
I gotta say this is a genius work...anything to make your life easier
I'm just glad my ditch isn't banked like that
Wow! Ingenuity....something fading away.
Looks good, works well, and more cheaper than what DOTs across America buy as attachments to their expensive tractors
Built the whole dang carriage from scratch. Quite the machine 👍🙂
this is great - so much better than getting a different mower just for one bank or having to string trim or walk that bank
That’s pretty smart angling the tank! Great video!
I'd love to watch this process being done rather than 1 pass being cut. Pretty neat idea 💡 👌
You are a genius! I bet mowing it any other way is a pain.
Good idea,I was thinking about putting an outrigger on my riding mower.
So simple, but yet ingenious! Great job!👍👍👍
Thank you for the tips. Love it gonna make one. Tired of weed eating
That’s just freaking awesome just shows anyone can do anything they set their mind too I’d have never thought of anything like this lol

You’d have to come up with a way of taking the slack out of the cables too or the unit would not stay ridged.
Simple but effective very good use of the brain 😊😊
Beautiful engineering Sir !! Love it !!
My dad would have made something like this, LOVE IT !
Keep Up Your OUTSTANDING Videos Miss Cheers 👌👌😇😇👍👍🍻🍻
Heroes come in all forms!bravo sir!
Use a Lawnboy mower. Two strokes will run at any angle and lighter than a Briggs.
Love those lil green bastards. I have a 21" one like from the 80s maintenance on it is simple and it's a work horse best mower I've had
@Ronnie Johnson He didn't have a Lawn Boy mower. He had the one you see in the video, and it STILL worked out just fine
This made me smile....great job!!
Great idea but no footage of you turning around and the extra room it would take to do so. If you have tons of space it would be useful if not, a gang mower would be a better idea.
Who says he turns around? I have seen riding mowers with reverse.
can use different length arms.
I would back up
I'm going to take a guess here and assume he backs up and adjust his next pass by moving a bit further out into the driveway and continue on repeating.
Get to the bottom of the driveway, turn right, back up, turn right, done.
Absolutely brilliant. Laziness is the mother of invention.
good idea, i need this! Pushing it by hand sucks!
Man I hate weed eating a hill. Awesome idea
Very creative. Great job !
American Ingenuity.

Nice R&R designe thanks for sharing
Excellent solution!
Figuring out how to do it is more than half the fun.
LOL! The fun is being able to cut the stupid grass as quickly and easily as possible, and then get back to things I actually enjoy doing.
Oh the great lengths people are willing to go, to escape the haunting horrors of long grass, colorful weeds and wild flowers.
Great work BIG 👍
Nice work!
